Isn't it a roguelike?

sandbox metroidvania 2D action game

what
only if you think minecraft is a roguelike

Why is fishing progression so RNG?

name 3 (THREE) games with fishing that is not extremely RNG

Use the fishing glitch.

Appeal to shittiness.

Tell me more

>dude what if we made a 2D minecraft instead of making something new and inventive
>dude you're a genius lmao
Fuck off

Autism simulator.

>Cast a line
>turn autopause on

>go to inventory, right click on your stack and then right click to drop the picked up item
>press esc twice
>watch as you vomit out new additional lines
>repeat
>reel in when there's a ton of bites

every thread
every time

Thanks.

Resident Evil 4
ARK
Monster Hunter (use baits to get fish you want)

Unless you can rebuke it then shut the fuck up. I love terraria but he is completely right

>dude what if we decided to hate a game we've never played
>dude you're a retard lmao

Link's Awakening was the first game I've ever played that had fishing, and it wasn't RNG-based.

Genre:
Side-Scrolling Moldable-Sandbox Platform game.

>he is completely right
He isn't though. If you think Terraria is just 2D Minecraft then you might as well stop playing videogames

So who's gonna host the server?

As true as that it, Terraria's character and build variety is a lot nicer than DUDE DIAMOND ARMOR LMAO. Using different trinkets for better spelunking or fighting needs, finding cool synergies with magic or melee weapons that have neat effects. Much nicer art direction too.

Minecraft is built around building 3D blocky structures, and exploration. Combat (even with the 1.9+ updates) isn't Minecraft's Strong point.

Terraria has a clear progression system. Where Minecraft is open to interpretation as to what to do next, Terraria has a set path of armor and weapon tiers you go through, to tackle said boss of each tier. The games play rascally different. Not every moldable-terrain sandbox game is fucking MineShit.

Yes its called worse then starbound

>implying irl fishing isn't RNG

Minecraft is garbage compared to this, you actually get rewards for exploring. Meanwhile you explore in minecraft your find a cave, some coal, and if your lucky, diamonds. Otherwise there is shit for all. Ohh a spooky abandon mineshaft. Even terraria did that better with its underground bunkers and minecart tracks. Also no tedious hunger system to worry about and cooking fish is optional.

Next week it'll belong to the vaunted "inferior to Starbound" genre

I'm not trying to rush a Reaver Shark IRL. I'm not trying to get fishing gear and a strong line. All of that is well into the game. What's supposed to be fun about fishing 1800 Bass without any option to actually progress the gameplay?

Highly functioning autistic simulator.

>fishing
>Resident Evil 4
you wot user

>"rascally different"

You need to have brain damage to not realize in the context he meant "radically different", only to be autocorrected by the phone.
Good job on looking more retarded than usual.

>mfw theyve been saying this for 136 consecutive weeks

itll be different this time

>the feel that the guy who wore all this gold got beaten to death today

BULLSHIT i dont believe it

But the other one's the retarded one, user. He's defending 2d Minecraft game.

Fishing with a gun is still fishing.

oh wait you mean the shirt guy, not the guy in that image

Which game is better?

Stardew Valley, Terraria, or that fucking Starbound game?

bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-36804209

Terraria without hesitation.

Terraria, tons of content over years.

You clearly have not played the game because not only is it a 2D Mincecraft, it has actual gameplay elements and progression. Not simply run around and build shit. Terraria is an actual, legit game.

Stardew Valley isn't even similar to those games ya fuck. That's like comparing Animal Crossing to Megaman.

Anyway, Terraria.

Breath of Fire had pretty good fishing.

I'm taking hook line and sinker

>Minecraft is built around cubes, everything looks squared and cubey, 3D environment, focus on survival due to breaking tools, food meters and constant danger of being stalked by creepers or sniped outta nowhere by skellingtons
>Terraria is all 2D sprites, focus on combat since there is a far greater variety of enemies and weapons/armor to use, focus on grind and battles, possibly could be described as castlevania meets sandbox

I understand if you prefer one over the other, or play them both, but saying one is superior to another is just fanboyish circlejerking. Open your eyes next time. Owait I'm on Sup Forums.

Stardew has combat in it it though.

Harvest Moon doesn't.

OK, Rune Factory then.

>tfw no good terraria porn

>he faps to 2d minecraft men

user...

other guy here, and saying i agree with your, just, your arguments stupid. if minecraft had more enemies, and more combat, had more grind, is it suddenly not minecraft? because theres mods that LITERALLY do that

Everything Minecraft does can be accomplished in Terraria, and the game has the added benefit of being not a boring piece of shit.

Potions in terraria; 40+ turn gravity upside down, heal hearts, restore mana, flame shield, armour, enemy spawn increase, enemy spawn decrease, featherfall, water breathing, water walking, etc.

Minecraft; Less than half. none of which affect game mechanics in any way.

>tfw terraria has shit art direction and sprites

Tfw minecraft doesn't even have magic.

Not even sure why i'm responding.

Wtf i hate minecraft now

you can move in 3 dimensions?

No, but you can place blocks in three dimensions.

>MC combat
Where?

I've got some decent Terraria porn. Including a futa dryad with mechanic and party girl slobbering on her dong.

Sharing is caring

Also have a shark attack to go along with it.

it's an RTS

...

Well, that was awesome. Thanks you handsome bastard.

I've also got lihzahrd asses.

...

Please calm your autism, please.
I like both, but Terraria is basically better than Minecraft in every way except mulitplayer and, well, 3D.
>3D adds depth (no shit), making the game far more expansive, make houses, towers, EVERYTHING in 3D space, play in, out and around. Basically, more immersion.
>Multiplayer Minecraft makes it more alive, making co-oping more fun and rememberable, while Terraria; "I need help beat x boss, *beats boss*, ok thanks, you can go off and do your thing now".
If Terraria was Terraria, but in 3D via Minecraft and have everything else Minecraft hade, it would be 100% better than Minecraft.

i really want to master the art of simple b8 like this

You know the drill.

hey

how do i find a server to play on long term?

preferably a new large expert world

Get friends

I'd invite you to my server but Sup Forums is cancerous

imgur.com/a/OvlE8
There you go.

The only thing cancerous about me is that I tend to spend more time building than actually wanting to progress and do events.

>It's inherently better because it's 3D
Not how it works. No amount of 3D space to work with changes the fact that minecraft has shit-tier combat compared to Terraria and that Terraria is significantly more aesthetically pleasing in every way. Sailing on a boat out in the middle of the ocean at the night is the closest I've gotten to Minecraft bringing me more immersion in the world than Terraria. And if your multi-player experience was that bad in Terraria, you're doing it with shitty friends. Not like you don't just go off on your own in Minecraft anyway.

Based

Oh shit you're the terraria porn guy? Add the french Griffinwing on steam

Glorious

Nah, I just saved those over time.

>Lack of comprehension; the post
Fucking. READ.

>but Terraria is basically better than Minecraft
Is literally the first thing I said. And yes you fuckwad, 3D is realistically better than 2D because it's not as limited as 2D is. Logically, you'd know this. It's how it would be handled is what determines how good it is over 2D. Which most games fail at.

>Still hasn't added me

I'm not the guy you're looking for though.

3D also has certain limitations that 2D does not. It's much harder to make certain optical illusions, and furthermore you have a much, MUCH smaller area of awareness when it comes to your environment and enemies around you.

Plus not only is 3D far more demanding of your machine, but it's also a lot harder to implement certain things, like layers where certain things can exist in the foreground, background, or midground, plus several things that can be done on their own layers that you'd need a larger space for in 3D settings unless you wanted to make processing slower, memory issues more common, filesizes bigger, and so on.

I like builders dude come on don't be shy I love shyfags

>3D is less limited
Except that has no basis in reality. An extra dimension is only less limiting space wise, in reality adding that extra dimension puts variables into play that will limit everything else about the game.
>Fucking. READ.
I CAPITALIZE for EMPHASIS. EMPHASIS!

whos this?

Starbound got better with the new devs but is not quite as good as terraria (still fun though)
Stardew isn't even in the same genre, but it a nice edition to the harvest moon style game and the dev is a cool guy
Terraria has semi-asshole devs but they care somewhat about their game and it shows in the end, also it had the most time to grow.

A character from a lacklustre anime about highschooler crystal magic cancer jesus.

>semi-asshole devs
Wait
What?

In what way? I can't remember much in the way from assholery from them.

i remember something like one of the devs through a shit fit about hacking using the dev items in single player.
But i don't have any proof right now so ignore what i said about them.

I'm having a hard time imagining that, to be honest, especially given that you can acquire most dev items legitimately now, and one dev being a semi-asshole doesn't necessarily mean they all are.

Terraria is a sandbox game built around being linear, Minecraft is a sandbox game built around being non-linear. They are both very good at what they do.

yeah bad wording on my part

Don't mind me, I'm just a moth.

Or am I a harpy?

>place blocks in three dimensions
>terraria

I might just be a demon.

It's not entirely wrong. You can have both foreground and background blocks, just not in front of each other, and through clever use of teleporters you could have a building consist of more than just two dimensions.

...

Did they fix getting the same item in every chest while digging?

I don't know but it sure as hell doesn't have an Apache

shut up you autist jesus christ
