What went wrong was they didn't have a G rank and that they shoved excavation and infection for two games then dropped it. Otherwise they corrected the power creep and made hunting all about style and skills, it's pretty damn good.

Armor skills were nerfed, so in order to make up for it the hunter styles were added, which can sometimes allow you to cheese bosses. It was easy for Japs too.

Hunter styles add a huge ton of variety to each weapon without needing to create new ones, it was a much needed refreshment for the series, especially after the failure of underwater combat.

Why does everyone complain about the camera? I don't understand, it's easy to use target lock to keep track of the monster.

The camera is perfectly fine without accessories or the touchscreen.
