Will 4.0 fix this steaming pile of shit?
Or does the game have to die before SE does something about their golden goose and that fraud Yoshi-P gets fired ?
Will 4.0 fix this steaming pile of shit?
Or does the game have to die before SE does something about their golden goose and that fraud Yoshi-P gets fired ?
Whats wrong with it?
Extremely shallow casual disposable content that boils down to pretty hallways that you get bored of running in the first day.
Capped everything capped tomes capped scrips capped raid drops and a restrictive penalty system that makes it extremely difficult to raid without being lucky enough to have a static.
Heavy vertical progression that makes content obsolete sometimes on release.
It's shit.
Literally nothing, it's just OP having no taste whatsoever.
>Will 4.0 fix this steaming pile of shit?
No. It will just be more of the same shit. The devs have zero creativity.
Oh boy another 2 dungeons that is completely linear, has 3 faceroll bosses with faceroll trash in between. AMAZING!
I'm curious to see how much WORSE they will make crafting and gathering in future updates. They fucked it over completely in HW
That "fraud" helped save Square Enix when they were going through rough times, as well as redeemed Final Fantasy's good name. Show some respect.
>redeemed Final Fantasy's good name.
Final Fantasy is and always will be a complete joke after 2001
Have they done anything about the mass exodus to gilgamesh yet?
>implemented all the good shit Tanaka had been working on to improve 1.0
>now is out of ideas
And it shows. Not even sure why casuals keep subbing to this game seen as their end-game is housing and they can't even get that feature right.
Gilgamesh is losing players to other servers last I checked.
3.5 will have cross-realm chatrooms
was gilgamesh where all da hardcore raiders went?
I wish there were any houses available. I just want to decorate shit.
Can't wait for a spicy census in 3.4
Let's see if it's fallen below the 200k player mark yet.
The playerbase needs to change. Steps of Faith was a duty in the right direction, but everyone balks at any originality so we'll keep getting our 3 boss trash mob faceroll garbage.
I really really wanna play this game. Should I buy a ps4 or can I build a pc that can run it for about the same price? Pls respond
Totally depends at the end of the day if you want more exclusives on PC or PS4. You can make a console killer at the same price as a PS4.
PC has a fuckhuge library though and is eating up console exclusives as time goes on
All he did was shit out another themepark MMO using ideas shamelessly taken from other games. He and his team were creatively bankrupt from the start. All of the time, money and man power he had at his disposal, and ARR was the result; how pitiful.
Play on a fucking PC with a fucking keyboard like a proper human being.
>4.0
>ever happening
Heavensward will go as far as 3.8555 I swear
I would prefer pc but can I really build one for around 400 that can run it good?
I want too but I don't know how much a pc that can run it would cost
They already confirmed HW will only go to 3.55 like ARR did.
>time, money, and manpower
>MMO developed in 3 years when most take 10
>extremely tight budget because 1.0 spent all the profits from FFXI
>so little available manpower they had to outsource artwork to china
They have a set release schedule for patches and expansions. 4.0 will come after 3.55, about 9 months from now.
>they think we'll drop PS3 version for the next expansion
>The devs have zero creativity.
I wanna say from the little things they do get to deviate from I wanna say they have plenty of creativity. The problem is that the game's mission is to pander to literally the lowest common denominator when it comes to most of the content.
Zero meaningful customization with boring, safe abilities so that everyone gets a pretty toy to play with but doesn't have to put any real thought into it.
Only gays play MMOs anymore
>doesn't have to put any real thought into it
>most parties were unable to complete easy as fuck DPS check in Final Steps of Faith on release day
kek
you can play with mouse+keyboard on ps4
You'll still be subject to PSN outages, being unable to parse your performance, among other things.
>people crying Ozma is too hard
>all you have to do is move one meteor to the left and one to the back
My FX6300 HD 7790 runs it just fine.
Thanks for trying to help but I think I'll just buy a ps4. I'm way to retarded to try and build a pc
Wiping City of Mhach is funny, it's like an apology for how god awful and boring Void Ark was, and the response is funny
>UGH, MECHANICS
>Why can't I facerooooooll
Don't be too hard on yourself, user, you'd have to be literally retarded to not being able to build a pc.
I'll build your pc for blowjobs
There is literally no reason to play FF14 on a keyboard/mouse unless you're a monk or a healer.
>and the response is funny
But the overall reception for Weeping City has been overwhelmingly positive.
>There is literally no reason to play FF14
Agreed.
The majority of players keep paying and subbing for that content, so that's why the game keeps going that direction.
It may sound crazy, but not everything is intended for everyone, and it seems like XIV isn't for you, my friend.
I share your frustration, but there doesn't seem to be much on the MM market these days. Trying to get back into EVE after years of not playing, but even EVE is buckling under current MMO trends
Controller players always underperform compared to M&KB players.
FFXI came out in 2002 and invalidated the argument with how brutal it was, where having devs that hate their playerbase was a feature
>Controller players always underperform compared to M&KB players.
Not doubting you, but curious as to where the stats are for that
>Controller players always underperform
Do you have a single fact to back that up?
Controllers are a crutch. You may have convinced yourself that pressing 40% more buttons on average to do same things isn't a problem, but it is.
Objectively, Targeting on a gamepad is terrible, especially when many multiple targets are present. The interface is still Windows widget-based, and while they did do a good job of adapting it for a gamepad, it's still merely a crutch.
Subjectively, MCH, DRG, SMN openers on a gamepad are literally cancer.
Everyone getting excited for Tuesday's Deep Dungeon? Any planned party compositions?
Console players are the bulk of controller users, and they tend to have lower clear rates on higher content, and in many cases, will fill the role of shitter in groups.
I've observed this due to running three FCs across the span of the game, and anecdotal evidence from other players, though it tends to be more of a mindset of "I'm going to have fun and relax!" versus "Time to play seriously like I'm motherfucking Mozart"
>We'll never get Chemist
>They'll never make a magical trap/zone class like ACN was supposed to be or give us whips as a flayer
>GEO, RDM, BLU, DNC will never be properly implemented because of holy trinity bullshit and 4 man dungeon limitations
>PLD will always be boring to play
have they even confirmed anything for 4.0 yet? like ps3 dro, new level cap, the gimmick(flying mounts), or if they are dropping ps3 ?
No. Wait until fanfest in October.
there is not a better game for erp out there
>still no proper AA
>still no 50-60 traits
>still no 6th cross class skill slot for level 60's or cross classing from any of the new classes
I love the game but these seem like very minor things that should have been implemented in 3.0
What the fuck are you gonna cross-class? Some jobs struggle to fill up five slots.
>Everyone getting excited for Tuesday's Deep Dungeon? Any planned party compositions?
Solo. Not having to rely on shitters for your own progression is going to be the nicest thing ever.
GW2
cross classing and branchinf classes were both basically dropped concepts.
pretty sure theres some interview out there stating that they want to rework that system
>GEO, RDM, BLU, DNC will never be properly implemented because of holy trinity bullshit and 4 man dungeon limitations
kill me senpai
>Solo. Not having to rely on shitters for your own progression is going to be the nicest thing ever.
Cancer that killed MMOs right here.
ps3 limitations
Only thing confirmed so far that I'm aware of is increased inventory is being considered, since it sounds like expansion launches are the only time SE really signs paychecks for XIV anymore.
>remembers whips being discussed in 1.0 by Tanaka and team
>was prepared to go full Belmont
>made it to Ishgard before whipping the world, with no future in sight for my desired weapon
Cross-Class seemed to be neglected since Yoshi hates the base class system, and has ranted about how he would prefer jobs instead.
Really wouldn't be surprised if they go Cataclysm route years down the road and end up reworking base designs after players are beyond the point of really being affected by drastic changes.
>no marriage
>no housing
>sjw bullshit
>no catgirls (furshit dont count)
and from my experience ffxiv just has better rpers. gw2 was pretty shit
The games set up should have been tank -damage - healer - support. Would have been more interesting.
what classes are good on a controller then, currently i have little choice in the matter
>Not wanting to play with people that can't grasp simple mechanics and get everyone killed, thus hindering everyone else's progression
>is somehow cancer
Stop sucking and maybe people will want to play with you.
anything but sch smn nin and mnk
tank probably easiest
>what classes are good on a controller then, currently i have little choice in the matter
Not monk, I can tell you that much.
Black mage seems like it would lend itself fairly well to controller.
>trash dungeon
>mechanics
ayyyy
Is this a meme? How is monk hard on a gamepad? They have six buttons.
It's going to be Ala Migho, that much is already obvious. As for what the gimmick will be my bet is that the expansion will have a focus on building an army to fight against the Garleans. We already have heard about the Grand Company Mercenary system they want to implement where you'll be able to train your squad of NPC mercs and i'm expecting that will come in play now that liberating Ala Migho will be our next priority.
That would've been mint
I understand why they don't do that, but it still tans my rawhide that it wasn't that way
2x support (counting things like heals and tank as support too) and 2x DPS would have been pretty awesome and true to the console games too desu
Shitters never fail to surprise, my friend.
Deep Dungeon is just trash mobs retard.
Also it's just another type of content that ruins MMOs. NOTHING happens in the world of FFXIV. You only see people gathering or doing those lame HUNTS.
just sit in town, queue for shit on DF and that's it. Boring.
positioning
Deep Dungeon has a boss every 10 floors.
You also can't enter it through duty finder.
>They have six buttons.
Is THIS a meme? You either have never played a level 60 monk or you're shit. Or possibly even both.
Speaking of shitty DPS, any word on DPS meters so we can pick out people like this?
And? Lock on, sit by the diagonal split and do your shit.
youu must have been playing with some casual shitters on controllers then, which wouldn't be surprising given console users are often casual. still, with proper customization and optimization, a controller user playing seriously shouldn't have much difficulty at all keeping up, especially after muscle memory does half the job for you.
>pretty sure theres some interview out there stating that they want to rework that system
By "rework" they mean "act like it never existed so hopefully players will forget about it eventually", like base classes for new jobs, elemental/status resists, discipline-specific gear, the pointless options on character creation, etc.
XIV's development direction is as terrible as Wakfu's, but at least frogs have enough courage to rework the damn thing (multiple times if required) instead of leaving it behind and hoping for it to be forgotten forever (though XIV will probably never reach Wakfu's levels of unfinished/cut content, shit is pretty much french Sonic 2).
still same policy
no meters but you can parse
just dont mention it in game
NO BULLYING
I play MCH and SMN. Last week I spent five hours trying to make up a good palette and relearn the openers on a gamepad. After a hundred tries I just said nope and went back to keyboard.
I just don't see a single positive about using a gamepad other than muh couch gaming.
they wont ever do it because they dont want to turn the community against itself. The community is already against itself when it comes to getting raid shit done. Think of the fucking autism that would come out of the game if everybody was riding eachother's cock during shitty dungeon runs.
FF14 is for fags. If you play this game you're a shit lord. Name one redeeming factor about ff14 as far as gameplay goes. Go.
But you can from what I remember, since people will be able to play with pugs across servers, unless I'm mistaken.
Wait, you can solo deep dungeon? So any party comp is fine? They finally added combat content that isn't "praise the holy trinity or get out" shit? Time to resub.
Endgame boss dances are really fun with a good party of friends
They've had those since day 1, called fates. Aquapolis to a lesser extent too.
>They finally added combat content that isn't "praise the holy trinity or get out" shit?
You realize that in case of this game it means "It's so easy it can be cleared by four healers out of cleric stance"?
They explicitly stated you have to enter through Quarrymill.
Someone explain dps rotations to me.
Problem is the $$$ bottom line, that's why the genre has fallen into stagnation. I feel what you're tossing out there, but gotta take baby steps. Having a dedicated support role that buff/debuff/CC'd would have been enough of a change to separate ARR from the rest of the mold. Even make them over powered out the gates just to inject people's interest into this lost play style.
Ultimately 1.0 failing is what caused cookie cutter shit that the game is now. If people want things to change, unsub. I haven't been back since month 2 of HW and enjoy keeping tabs on the situation. Hasn't improved any sadly.
>3/240
They mentioned them being possible to solo, What this means exactly is uncertain but as they've never mentioned things like this being possible to solo before then yeah, I think there's a good chance you can hope for that.
Here's hoping user.
Nobody except shitters who think they're actually good cares about parsing
I play with a group of PS4 players who are better than most braindead PC shitters
Not saying they're all that way, but parsing hardly matters and FFlogs is a fucking cesspool of garbage and inflated parses
Yes and no. It's possible to do so, but one has to level their character up with gear and such from Deep Dungeon first.
Everyone starts out at level 1 in that mode, which will be hectic.
What stated is what the end result will be, since SE stated they balanced it around to where x4 DPS can even clear the content, as well as solo play.
The only thing it really has going for it is different gameplay mechanics than the norm, a new type of glowy weapon that gets powered up inside the dungeon and can be used outside after a point, and probably glamour options, with a pinch of new exp options.
Huh. Means I need to correct some previous misinformation I spread to my FC members.
>dont have to queue
>have to enter through quarrymill
>quarry is just another word for queue
cant even keep a single promise
I haven't played in a year since HW came out but I'm about to resubscribe to get caught up on the main story content.
Have I really missed out on much? Last thing I did was try regular Alex when it first came out.
>Nobody except shitters who think they're actually good cares about parsing
Parsing is used for problem identification and self-improvement, I don't know what kind of stick is there up your ass.
>I play with a group of PS4 players who are better than most braindead PC shitters
You have 10 seconds to tell me how you identify the platform of the player at a glance. Go on. I'm waiting.
> parsing hardly matters
If it was widely available it would at least inform that bard who does 500 dps at level 60 that he's not doing good enough to even clear a main story boss fight.
>FFlogs is a fucking cesspool of garbage and inflated parses
You sound like someone whose ego got hurt by somebody better at the game. FFlogs is a great tool to see how other players' performance stacks against yours and learn rotations and tricks other people use to adapt to particular fights. I'm sorry you're too retarded to actually use it the intended way.
>Working on Steps 1, 3, and 4 at the same time
>Have half of the crystals from 1,
>70/80 from 3 with none of the crafted parts,
>Have enough to do 40 upgrades in 4
>Still using 210 weapon because no one will take me to do primal exs until I have a relic weapon.
Difficulty needs to be toned down
I was a heroic raider in Mists of Pandaria but even story content in FFXIV is more difficult, it's absurd
it's a bunch of bullshit user, play whatever you want. i main mnk, and also play regularly smn, blm and wtm, and maybe i'll pick up war and mch as well and i do just fine on controller. and monk is easy as hell once you understand the class and get used to moving around, locking on helps a ton too.
the one problem i've come accross so far is that smn takes a lot of space because of pet micromanaging eating bar space, but otherwise the class itself is easy to use (but also easy to misuse, ala ruin spamming) and very versatile. macros for stuff like pet buffs help conserve space though, which is always nice.
blm is plain easy, it's the kind of class where the mechanics and the juggling of buffs while finding optimal spots to turret are more likely to be a problem than the use of abilities itself is. it also seems to be one of the less space-consumming jobs.
whm i'm in the process of levelling but much like with blm button pressing and ability usage as well as space usage are easy, it's stance dancing and watching everyone's health, your mp and avoiding tunnel vision while dpsing that can get you.
tips for controller users:
-r2+l2 hotbars (think they're called dynamic), learn to use them if you haven't, they are life and space savers. depending on class you might not even need to use both and can stick to a single one for both button combos for ease of use.
-macros are nice to save space, just don't use them for rotations, better use them for buffs/debuffs only
-customize your hotbars and which ones you share or don't. use hotbar change when drawing weapon, that way you don't need to keep any non-combat skill on your combat hotbars.
-set up your abilities in actual patterns or easy-to remember sequences, like putting combo moves together or separating single target and aoe actions. with muscle memory to help after playing enough it'll flow naturally.
good luck user.
>You have 10 seconds to tell me how you identify the platform of the player at a glance. Go on. I'm waiting.
Not him, but PS4 and especially PS3 players take longer to load past cutscene skipping.
That's not true, my current PC is worse than what I used to have and I can feel the longer load times, especially in populated zones. I actually think my PS4 account may be loading faster at times.
Or you could just play the game and not waste hours looking through parsing logs for a 0.5% improvement, or watching someone else play a game.
