Not the 8.8
FFXII. Easily.
since FF12 needed IZJS to be any good, gotta go with TP
are they even remotely comparable
XII was fantastic. Fuck the haters.
One plays itself, the other doesn't. Is this supposed to be a hard decision?
Both are shit.
I gave up on FFXII after like four hours, it was poorly-written garbage with an awful combat system
TP was pretty decent and it gave us tons of Midna porn so there's that
I was a big Zelda fan in 2006. Not a huge fan of FF.
TP is one of my biggest disappointments. FFXII is in my top 10.
A lot of perception of quality comes from expectation.
Twilight Princess got a 9.5/10 from Toonami. What did FF get?
Tom has good tastes.

I was a big fan of both.
FF12 put me to sleep and TP had me depressed.
The best 2006 game was Okami.
>way more Midna porn than there is Fran porn
it's not fucking fair bros
>FF12 put me to sleep
>Okami didn't
>tp was released a decade ago
what the fuck
Why do people hate Twilight Princess again? I always thought it was one of the better 3D Zeldas.
This
Both were low points in their respective franchises and both of had even worse sequels.
I marathon'd it, had a blast. Celestial drawing is still one of the coolest things in video games.
It wasn't finished, the story and characters sucked dick, the start is super boring, it's the easiest 3D Zelda, Link has no personality at all and people talk to him like he's a total blank slate for no apparent reason, Midna is annoying, the wolf sections at god awful, there's no fun mechanic like music or sailing, items have very little use outside of their respective dungeons, the big open field is a drag, and more reasons I'm sure.
Like an average summer blockbuster, it is competent, but utterly safe. It's a boring game that takes no risks, which is saying a lot considering the series it comes from. It's silly to hate it, but there's not much to love either.
ff12. hands down. twilight princess was overhyped garbage falsely marketed as a spiritual successor to ocarina of time.
FFXII is one of the very best games the RPG genre has to offer. TP is another samey Zelda.
Yeah I shitpost about it all the time but it's not a game that you can -hate- since it's not that bad. But it is a bad Zelda game with a ton of flaws and very few high points.
>FFXII is one of the very best games the RPG genre has to offer.
t. someone who has not played JRPGs.
It was a shallow retread of Ocarina of Time elements, while doing many things worse.
FF12 was an offline MMORPG falsely marketed as a single player game.
FF11 and FF12 are literally the best combat systems to come out of a final fantasy game and even Dragon Quest knew it was true.
TP was just retarded.
>FF11 and FF12 are literally the best combat systems to come out of a final fantasy game
this thread is giving me cancer
trick question
MMORPG combat is just an annoyance created to give people time to type on PC while in the middle of combat. It is one of the most inferior combat systems to have ever existed, and only becomes playable at best.
agree
Tera's combat is better than pretty much all action RPGs.

heres hoping Breath of the Wild doesn't end up another turd to be flushed.
Not every game needs to be action oriented it's fine enough to just watch the action while having full control of the camera angles and still moderate control of the battle. the free movement and in-world battling really added a lot to the standard final fantasy gameplay.
if you want devil may cry then go play devil may cry lol.
>FFXII
>set up gambits
>game plays itself
>other FFs
>mash X and use magic/summons when you're bored
I really don't see how one of these is significantly better than the other.
The other FFs had a challenge.
That has nothing to do with the gameplay system. They are both brainless, and almost every challenge in every game can be overcome by leveling a bit.
12 has one of the hardest super-bosses in all of FF
you don't see how intentionally doing mindless mashing is worse than sitting back and enjoying a show?
gambits were a cool idea but they really did give way too many gambit slots to wholly automate gameplay.
think of it like sailing in Wind Waker compared to flying in Skyward Sword. One you can just enjoy and divide your attention for moment if needed, the other actively requires you to make inputs despite there being nothing of interest to explore and you're mostly just flying in a straight line from point A to point B for 90% of the game.
or think about having a calculator in your pocket but you choose to do a formula of long division and square rooting and exponential numbers via pen and paper.
may as well just save time and energy.
That is an MMO, but the combat looks to be of a ARPG, not a typical MMORPG. I'm not saying all MMO's have bad combat, but that the style of combat that was initially designed for MMO's is shitty.
>Not every game needs to be action oriented
True, but half assed mechanics are not good in any type of game. Half assed movement mechanics in a battle are just an annoyance. If you want my position in combat to matter, then fucking make it matter. AoE attacks just make the matter worse. Now you need to move, but unless you are an idiot, the way you move isn't going to change the outcome of the fight.
Do you mean in IZJS? I beat everything in XII and don't recall anything being particularly hard.
ay FF isn't for you its okay to just admit that.
FF12 was still a better FF game than TP was a Zelda game.
Also, Elder Wyrm is one of the worst main-story roadblocks in the series. Especially considering how unceremonial its presentation is.
>you don't see how intentionally doing mindless mashing is worse than sitting back and enjoying a show?
Well, holding a control stick is required in XII, and it is more mindless than any other FF game, so you don't get the joy of watching a "movie". It's like saying that having to hold the play button down to watch movies is superior to *insert absolutely anything here*.
holding the play button down to watch a movie is literally better than having to press the play button each time you want to advance a single frame and that is the literal analog of what we're talking about.
fuck that piece of shit
FF is probably my favorite game series. Especially since FFT is my GOAT. Hell, I could look past the flaws of the combat if they didn't go and add in 2 fucking losers that don't help the plot in any way.
