ITT: Well-optimized games

ITT: Well-optimized games

I'm surprised it never gets below 30fps on my 560ti

People say this is one of the worst console ports of all time, with issues ranging from a 30FPS soft lock to Denuvo being used to missing visual effects to abysmal memory issues. It still is hard to run to this day.

...and then Black Ops 3 came out, and made this look like Devil May Cry 4.

...

>not even 60 fps in an empty and devoid of life street

>1440p on what is effectively a 5 year old GPU

RIP FOX ENGINE

I had zero problem with AK after the first day-one patch that removed the 30 FPS lock. Granted I have a pretty good machine (i7 @ 4.2 ghz, 980 ti, 16 gb RAM, SSD), so maybe I'm just lucky.

>16 gb RAM

That's pretty much it right there.

you would enjoy the game more at a higher fps. it's science

I'm thinking of getting this from Walmart once I get enough money from my job
What are the best settings for a 290X?

on pc launch I got some terrible stuttering/ freezing no matter what the graphical settings I used. Not sure if they've adressed this since.

...

>no rain effects for PC version
>PS4 puts them indoors

Man,that picture looks so artificial and fake

You need at least 8GB of RAM to run it properly, that's probably it.

That was patched in shortly after launch. It looks like it's a JUST situation on every platform, ironically it looks like the Xbone had it best.

That's probably because it's a screenshot of a video game and video games don't look like real life

You know this is a video game board, right?

blizzards engine for overwatch.
anything source
MT framework or whatever it's called for DMC4 that shits amazing.

I'm pretty sure MT Framework was backed by witchcraft.

I ran Just Cause 2 on my shit laptop and it played great, to my amazement, especially with all the shit happening in that game.

i get random dips in overwatch

And then you go online and it all goes to shit, even in solo lobbies.

Metal gear solid Sup Forums

You blind m8?

does source count when you have to spend one minute every ten minutes to load a new level

Quality bait. Thanks for the kek

>drive by some trees
>drop from 60fps to 30

That's strange, I get 3,3GB peaks for no reason. What are your settings? HDD or SSD?

You're missing the point user

>tfw you're on a 3-series CPU, you cheaped out 3-4 years ago on the non-OC version, and you're not sure if you're bottlenecking

Nah, MT Framework is what happens when Sony doesn't hold a monopoly all around the world. Capcom had second thoughts about being PS3 exclusive, especially with the 360 kicking its shit in so bad in the beginning.

The downside of being a graphics whore. I love having everything turned up when playing a game. It's just how the game is supposed to look like. Too bad framerate has to suffer for it.

The most optimized game I ever played was just cause 2. Never had any dips with everything turned up.

You are.

>tfw they fucked up DMC4 SE

it's nowhere near as smooth as DMC4 for some reason

>those specs

You don't get to talk about >Well-optimized games senpai. Just continue upgrading.

Everything on very high except post FX (high).
Extended shadow distance maxed out, long shadows on, and high detail streaming on.
Granted, I also have 16 GB of RAM.

There's some back to the future shit going on here in this image

As someone with a i3 540 I can tell you that Sleeping Dogs and Mad Max are probably the most optimized games I've played.

wolverine is looking good

should i get a 6600K or wait until whatever comes out next month and shits all over it?

You are mistaken my friend.

Pffft, mad max barely had anything going for it.

Is there still nothing but hackers?

Well, it was a WB game on PC, so it had that working against it.

Did you post the wrong image?

I got 16 too. I'm starting to think it's the HDD bottlenecking it. Damn, I really didn't want to turn paranoid with write and read cycles or whatever you call the SSD equivalent.

Pic unrelated?

Nah, just had abysmally bad, low resolution textures and no real demanding technical features.

Wow that looks very real. Too bad it was a bit of a cluster fuck

guaranteedreplies.jpg

>a thick line separating the blurred out road and the car
>no reflections
>that PS2 mountain and foliage
???

Probably not, I'm running an HDD from like 2007 and it functions fine.
Game just eats up more memory the more you alt-tab out of it.

Lol I hadn't realized. I barely played the game. Got bored within a few hours and thought I'd finish it some other time. Unfortunately mgsv was right around the corner... I don't think I'll ever get back to it. Waste of 15 bucks.

Is your power plan set to High Performance?

Always made me giggle how so much detail was put into cars for racing games, yet the environment is always garbage. Not like it matters since cars are the only things that matter for those games.

>low res jpeg mountains

Real life has never looked so beautiful.

Mad Max and MGSV came out the same day.

Yes

I always hope for a game that has both aspects well detailed. You'd think by now they could do that given all the advancements in tech we have. Guess when you're going fayst it doesn't matter.

That only makes it worse. Do you update Windows? Are you on 7?

Does that make a difference? It's on balanced. I assumed Windows would just pump out more power to the CPU as required.

Had it not been for the filename, you would not have guessed this is a video game.

LOL that explains a lot then. Now I'm wondering why I bothered playing mad max first then.

The camera would be shaking a hell of a lot more in a real car.

No GTA is not well optimized tbqh

In the city sure I get 60FPS all the time with drops to 55 sometimes with a 970 and everything set to max except shadows (high, very soft) and MSAA (2x).

when i go drive to the desert part of the map or the mountains then rip framerate and best i can get is 40

>Do you update Windows?
I haven't updated my install of Windows 7 in nearly 3 years.

I run a fucking toasted but Metro: Last Light still looks gorgeous on it. I don't know how they did it.

The only realistic thing about that is the lighting inside the car.

Garbage driving physics tho. Just wait for Assetto Corsa to come to the PS4.

I get the same with drops in the desert. It's something to do with grass, I think.

>laptop with nvidyer 750m
>consistently over 60 fps with mixed high/medium settings
imo it looked good too

Turn the grass down. It fucks the fps up.

physics do not work like that

What resolution?
Also what CPU?
Your performance is worse than what I get on my 280x at 1440p, and most of my settings are on max (aside from grass, post FX, and reflections).

Speaking of WB, the PC port is a damn shame. NOW it looks and runs just fine, but the fact WB literally wouldn't OK any of the fixes until people were mass returning it is especially terrible. And why was the PC version given such little care? All because of "muh console DLC," of course. Even the footage they were showing at E3 (which, of course, was the PC version) stuttered every now and again, WB clearly was prioritizing DLC. It's (((just a coincidence))) that the PS4 version was marketed to hell and back, had tons of exclusive DLC, and Rocksteady is now working on a PSVR exclusive Arkham game.

Damn shame. Even the keyboard shortcuts are great, sure is nice to scroll through the wheel (or press numbers) for gadgets instead of bringing up a separate menu. I am able to get 50+FPS at the lowest with all settings maxed out, 70-80FPS on average with an i5, 970, and 16GB of RAM. There's a micro stutter here and there when the game loads up a new portion of the game, but it's a night and day difference from then and now.

I was on a potato-tier computer for about ten years. The best-optimized game I ever played was Just Cause 2, easily

Honestly, this is the worst part of Konami going to pachinko. The Fox engine was the smoothest shit, and easily their greatest achievement.

HAHAHA

keep posting em nigga, I'm dying here

Ayyyy looks like just cause 2 is winning.

MAD MAX is optimized like FUCK

Might be worth looking into. Thanks.

No point having grass set to high. The game was not designed around it and it really shows on desert missions.

Fuck, I meant to add that I was talking about Arkham Knight.

>their

Fox engine was written by one American

>that fov

>an empty desert is easy to render
Who'da thunk

Flip this around, what are some of the worst optimized games?

GTA V

People with Titan X fail to get 30fps in DayZ cities at 1080p

GTA 4
Metro 2033 Vanilla
APB Reloaded

I don't know why it took me so long to realize why it's so optimized

It's a fucking desert, there is nothing in it

GTA IV, Saints Row 2

I dunno, my performance doesn't take too much of a hit in the desert.
I'd suggest turning grass down a notch to very high instead of ultra.

...

Nah-samefag?

Arma 3

Hiring that motherfucker was their greatest achievement, then.

>forgot about this game during the steam sale

Sometimes I wish I didn't buy a PS4, I don't want to be in the same group as this retard.

Batman. Watchdogs. Other ubishit games.
Those are the biggest ones I can remember. The ones that made me just want to quit gaming altogether. I already barely play games. Getting hyped up for a game and then having it completely disappoint you is one if the worst feelings.
P.S fuck fallout 4

No.

God forbid someone uses the same common as fuck word.
