TR1 through Chronicles are great. Every gamer should at least play TR 1 and TR 2.

AoD was shit thanks to development rushing.

The Legend trilogy was pretty good for a reboot but I personally feel that its comvat focus really took away from what Tomb Raider was initially.

Anniversary is a wild card. It is great for what it tries to do and is a worthy remake of TR 1. My only gripe is that again, like the Legend trilogy, it focuses on combat and quick actions too much and not enough on exploring. It just didn't feel like Tomb Raider. But that is maybe just a personal gripe...

New Tomb Raider is shit and a complete sellout "Uncharted with a girl character" wannabe. Lara Croft already had a back story and there was no need to chage it to accomodate butthurt SJWs who don't even play games.

Pic related is my favorite. Had a perfect balance between exploring and fighting and the Venice and Tibet levels will always be in my memory.

I and II are godlike
III is a bit more creepy but still good
IV is different both setting wise and level wise it's OK
V hits supernatural alley but it wasn't that bad at all
Angel of darkness try something new and I like curtis dude but the game isn't really as good as ps1 ones

Underworld is the continuation to the shitty ps2 games. Story is ridiculous and barely add anything. why bother with it.

1, 2, and 3 are all great. IV was decent and is the end of Lara, as far as I'm concerned. Legend was okay, but it was the first game I can remember that used QTEs. Anniversary is great, but it's a reboot of the first so that's to be expected. The feminist reboot is an abortion and not even remotely a TR game

Honestly it's not that bad just very flawed/unfinished but still fun if you install the patch which fix the controls and have patience to slog through the first two areas which are the worst parts but once you leave the Parisian Ghetto it improves alot, and the plot is hands down the best of any of the TR games imo.

Last Revelation is the best, most polished and most fun of the old Tomb Raider games.

Avoid everything after that except the Guardian of Light for coop fun.

What do you think I'm talking about? The atrocious shitpile that came out a few years ago. You know, the one where Lara was a meek lesbian instead of an adventurer. The one where she hated tombs (which was good, considering there were only like 4 in the game). The one where 99.8% of the enemies in the game were generic male mercenaries instead of animals or mythical creatures. You know, the one where she doesn't get her trademark dual pistols until the last 15 seconds of the game, which is ended by a QTE. Surely you remember that game?

Age has likely crippled the first generation of games. The movement--while nimble in their day--is tanky and unnatural. Angel of Darkness was a shit show on its release and hasn't been viewed with any favor since. Legend/Anniversary/Underworld are generally well praised around these parts and should be modern enough to be easy to slip into. Never played the Guardian of Light spin-off; heard good things on release. It's multiplayer co-op focused, so plan accordingly. I didn't despise the TR 2013 but its just another cinematic cover-shooter with some hand holding platforming sections a la Uncharted. Some nice R34 exists of it tho.
