"Let's be real here. Smash 4 was terribly ran at EVO. Worst tournament I've ever been to. Here's why. Please RT. No projector for most of the smash 4 tournament. People crowding to watch anything. Awful schedule. Matches being as early as 8 am, then having to play past midnight to then play at 8 am the next day. At the end of day 1, evo, (not the smash TOs) decided to use HALF of the setups (32 of them) for friendlies while we were trying to finish before midnight. Evo literally enforced this. Nothing Smash TOs could do about it despite wanting to. Evo randomly imposing only '32 moves' to fix their completely wrong brackets. (A bracket were ally wasn't even seeded...). They refused to communicate with the people making the brackets and limited their moves to fix the bracket and only allowed 32 people to be seeded. It's impossible to make a good bracket with this. It's evos fault for being so stingy for no reason that we had bad brackets. Despite being the second biggest event at evo we had the worst schedule of any other game, no projector when other games had them, and weren't on the stage at all until late top 32. We were also pushed into the corner of the room and it kinda felt like a neglected event. Some setups didn't even have all stages or rules. I personally found some evo staff to be very rude and stingy for no real reason. Bear tried his absolute best to run the event and without him.the event simply wouldn't have finished. We can't thank him enough. He did what he could with evos stupid decisions and conditions which made so many things much harder. EVO apparently didn't even compensate travel costs for key members of staff and commentators. Also heard the compensation they got was way below standard."

There's a clear difference between a community based tournament and a tournament run by an organisation. Years back you used what you had to try to run a tournament smoothly. Also he didn't complain so much about not having enough systems, but not being able to use them to finish the tournament in orderly time. Not having rules etc unlocked is a reasonable complaint too.

This would have happened to SF too, big venues have very strict fire codes and they don't fuck around. In fact last year they stopped a match from starting because people wouldn't clear the path around the stage.
