For those who have been following this game since 2006, is your hype on the same level it's been since it was first revealed? Did your hype die down some when Nomura was no longer director? Are you still going to buy the game?
For those who have been following this game since 2006...
I was more hyped for the game when Nomura was in charge but I'm still going to buy it day one. Invested too much time in it
It's hard to believe that final fantasy versus XIII is finally going to come out.
I'm honestly not interested in it though.
This honestly. Nomura's vision was more interesting but Tabata is actually making the game come out.
I'm just thinking about WHERE'S THE FUCKING BUNDLE SQUARE GOD FUCKING DAMN GIMME BUNDURU GIMME CONSOLE BUNDURU ALREADY
Yeah it's surreal. I figured Square would outright cancel it but it's actually releasing. I remember when I was 15 and saw the first trailer and shitted myself in hype
>For those who have been following this game since 2006, is your hype on the same level it's been since it was first revealed?
Haven't been hyped for it that long, but not necessarily. This isn't because I think it looks worse than it did way back when, I'm just lowering my expectations so it doesn't disappoint me when it comes out.
>Did your hype die down some when Nomura was no longer director?
Somewhat, but looking back I realize there wasn't that much concrete info to be hyped about.
>Are you still going to buy the game?
Yeah.
didn't it sell out in like a hour?
That was the collector's edition, he's talking about a console bundle which I think is up to Sony and not SE.
Console bundle. There is none.
there's one coming out in august
>still
is there any story for those things in the sky? are they gods?
Why is this game so comfy
My hype has fluctated but i believe that this game is a labour of love and i think itll translate to the game.
The issue i think is more poor marketting, i appreciate the transparency but they showed the game in way too much an unfinished state at the wrong times. As of now the current build looks great graphically and mechanically which makes me question why they showed that godawful looking gameinformer footage
sauce
My hype probably peaked at E3 2013. Versus had been quiet since early 2011. There were rumors of it getting cancelled in 2012 and leading up to E3 2013, rumors of it becoming XV and being cross-gen, I think. After the 1st Production event in 2011, shit looked good. Real good. The rumors of a cancelled game were devastating. And aside from being assured those rumors were false, we didn't get much else. Until E3 2013.
Then we were completely surprised and blown away by what they showed off. Something that looked next-gen, polished, and very much in line with what we had seen for Versus all those years. Then XV went quiet again until TGS 2014 where we found out Nomura was out and Tabata had taken the lead. From there, news kept coming out about the changes and the differences in XV. Even if Duscae's demo was a great taste of XV after waiting all these years, the changes kept coming.
Now, what we're gonna get from XV is fairly different from what Versus had been showing for years. A lot of what was Versus is now in the movie. But even with those changes, XV retains a lot of Versus. And so as the release date nears, it feels like there's still a lot of questions in the air. What made Versus so attractive years ago may not quite be left in XV, but XV may be able to stand out on its own.
Over three years since E3 2013 and almost six since we saw Versus in something other than CGI cutscenes at the 2011 1st Production event, it's not so much hype as a finality of things.
I hope Tetsuya Nomura doesn't get moved again now that he's working on KH3 and FF7R at the moment.
More like past kings of Lucis, not sure.
Those are the two biggest games of his entire career. Square wants him to complete them. They know they will make so much fucking money from them
I can kind of agree.
At this point I just want them to release the game so I can play it, I have no other expectations aside from a good OST.

TOO BIG TO FAIL
>tfw Final Fantasy XV will save both Square Enix and Sony
Versus XIII was for a very long time my most anticipated game but since Tabata took over and turn it into shit I don't care about it anymore. Such a shame really because it had so much potential.
youtube.com
We will never get this.
I remember when Sup Forums first saw this trailer back in 2011. This place exploded in hype. Those were the good ol days
>What made Versus so attractive years ago may not quite be left in XV, but XV may be able to stand out on its own.
This is why I've never agreed so much with people who get upset about all the things that changed from Versus to XV. Sure the gameplay might've looked better than what we have now or you might prefer a certain design over another, but a lot of what's been changed, added or removed for better or worse is still a mystery. Besides that, things change all the time in video game development if you look at concept art of pretty much anything, the general public just doesn't know about in most cases.
>We will never get this.
It wouldn't be as good as you imagine.
My hype has increased.
Nomura would have never been able to get it out and ever since 2012 Tabata is the one who's been co-director on it, and ever since he was announced as part of the team is when we've been seeing the game regularly. Tabata joining was the best thing to happen to it.
Want to know why?
That was before the TOR threads where people realized acting like morons from the Bioware forums and in a "What if?" Scenario of them coming to Sup Forums to defend their game with the assbackwards opinions.
People then realized that acting like a retard gets more replies than acting normal.
There's also the other side of those threads that wants every game to be the next TOR. They are just as annoying and bad as the shitposters.
>inb4 XV-kun
>inb4 shill
>inb4 FFXV drone
SO FUCKING COMFY. I don't even care about the story, I just wanna go camping and fish with my bros all game
>Besides that, things change all the time in video game development if you look at concept art of pretty much anything, the general public just doesn't know about in most cases.
Yea, we basically saw game development in action and it was awful. I really hope SE has learned from this and waits before showing off shit if it's not close to release. On the plus side, XV may do well even despite all its troubles. Hopefully, it does, because despite all the issues over the years, it sounds like Tabata and co. have worked out an efficient, modern development process the past 4 years. If XV's successful, that validates all that work and lets SE move right into the next FF instead of having to start from scratch.
>youtu.be
That trailer alone looks far better than everything XV showed us so far.
It's been 10 years since it was announced/
what the fuck am I doing with my life
Other than character switching there isn't any real difference between that combat. Even that Insomnia area is still in the game, only difference is it's at the end of the game instead of the beginning.
Most of that trailer is just them doing the set piece battle in Insomnia, then some random clips of them fighting in the grass plains spliced in.
I've read all the spoilers of Kingsglaive and there is noway that what Kingsglaive is for it's invasion is exactly what Versus was doing, like what we knew of the invasion as it was in Versus is like a 3/10 compared to how the invasion is handled in Kingsglaive which is 9/10, Kingsglaive added so much more devesation and destruction to it that just wouldn't have been feasible for a start game intro. Like seriously THREE DIAMOND WEAPONS FIGHTING AGAINST GIANT KOTR STATUES, No fucking way was that going to be how Versus invasion was. Versus invasion was just you running through streets fighting soldiers, behemoth, iron giants then ending with you fighting Aranea.
Nothing. Same as me
>THREE DIAMOND WEAPONS FIGHTING AGAINST GIANT KOTR STATUES
Holy shit.
>Other than character switching there isn't any real difference between that combat.
Yeah right because FF XV let's us control mechs, tanks airships etc.
I had no real faith when Nomura was at the helm and I definitely have no faith in a Tabata game.
I think the only thing that really excites me is that once 15 is out they can finally start something new. Maybe 16 wont take ten years either.
You do control the tank guns and airships in XV and mechs are still there.
Goddamn the combat was so close to Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix. FUCK why couldn't we get that combat? Nomura knows how to make combat the definition of fun.
>Goddamn the combat was so close to Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix.
How? It's the same exact animations, speed and combo structure as the game is now.
Combat is amazing in Platinum Demo.
What am I supposed to see in that video? He is just controlling one static turret nothing else. Just because mechs and tanks are still there doesn't mean they are controllable.
>is your hype on the same level it's been since it was first revealed
2008 here, nowhere fucking near it.
Hype is now just mild anticipation.
Also that cover is terrible.
Combat is shit in platinum demo. Tabata will never make good and fun action combat like Nomura can.
>He is just controlling one static turret nothing else
Which is the same thing we saw him doing in Versus, operating a static turret.
>Just because mechs and tanks are still there doesn't mean they are controllable.
There was never controllable tanks, the fuck are you even on about?
And they haven't said anything about mechs not being controllable.
>You do control the tank guns and airships in XV and mechs are still there.
Those aren't the same as riding around in a mech though.
No it is actually good, maybe you should get gud, there is more input required in XV than any KH game ever has needed.
>Those aren't the same as riding around in a mech though.
Which no one has said isn't there or not. If they still have us controlling turret guns then why not the mechs which we know are still there too?
Nomura said that we will be able to control various forms of vehicles in Versus including tanks, airships and mechs.
Nope. Its pretty much died down.
He never said you could drive tanks, stop making shit up. He said that you could operate the turret guns, one of which we saw on top of a tank, and we know that you can still operate turret guns. Airship is still there too as the car turns into one, you can also warp into enemy airships which we never saw ever during Versus. And they haven't said anything about not being able to use mechs.
>There was never controllable tanks, the fuck are you even on about?
>He never said you could drive tanks, stop making shit up.
youtu.be
More isn't always better.
>then why not the mechs which we know are still there too?
>we know
Then why haven't we seen any footage of them since that trailer?
Man, it really worries me that in every recent trailer and screenshots, they have been showing the game running on a Dev PC and not on the consoles that is coming out. All of the game probably runs and looks like shit on consoles and they have no idea what to do. I hope I'm wrong though.
Maybe you should actually watch closely becaues he's not driving a tank you fucking idiot, he's using the turret gun on top of one which is in a static position just like the one we see in XV.
The console version was playable at E3 with DF confirming it is 30FPS with performance and visual increase from both previous demos.
yes, but that's just a demo. They have been probably optimizing that demo for months since E3 was around the corner (the same with ED). In contrast, PD ran and didn't look too good since it was a something that they probably decided to had like 3 months ago.
user...
Same animations =/= same gameplay
>just a demo
Yet whenever it came to PD you always had faggots arguing otherwise....
>yes, but that's just a demo
And Tabata specifically said it reflects the current state of the console build.
I was more excited about it 5 years ago. I thought the PS3 would get a worthy jrpg.
The art direction they presented at 2013 was astounding, a trilogy woudn't have been a bad idea.
I lament at the difference of FFxv & Versus, Versus had real potential to save ff, it could have been the evolution to No.7. A real mature rpg, dealing with adult problems, and a modern setting. I was looking foward to a fully explorable city and an open world.
Yes it does because it's the same combos, same animations, same speed, same input and hits, it's the same base combat in both of those.
I hope
Animations speed influnces swords strikes in the gameplay. Whats your point?
And don't actually tell me with a straight face that the UI in the Versus side was functioning. It wasn't.
Only element that looked different was magic.
>A real mature rpg, dealing with adult problems, and a modern setting. I was looking foward to a fully explorable city and an open world.
All of this is in XV, in fact multiple fully explorable cities.
Also Insomnia was never anything but a battlefield even in Versus, and it still is a battlefield now.
>Versus had real potential to save ff, it could have been the evolution to No.7. A real mature rpg, dealing with adult problems, and a modern setting. I was looking foward to a fully explorable city and an open world.
I don't anything against wishful thinking and speculation but you went too far man.
If Tabata wouldn't have said he would keep Nomura's vision alive and not change anything I would still be hyped as fuck. But he shot himself in the fuck and just shit all over everything Nomura created.
My hype with Nomura was a 10/10
With Tabata it's a 8/10
>I lament at the difference of FFxv & Versus, Versus had real potential to save ff, it could have been the evolution to No.7. A real mature rpg, dealing with adult problems, and a modern setting. I was looking foward to a fully explorable city and an open world.
It can still be based on Nomura's vision without being the exact same thing.
I was more hyped the less info I knew. Tabata seemed like he just didn't know what he was doing and it killed my hype.
>And don't actually tell me with a straight face that the UI in the Versus side was functioning. It wasn't.
I never implied it was.
That was my younger self way back, no big deal it would come out by 2012/3. Then Tabata took control, and now another 5 years, with a more restricted view.
Nomura's was just too ambitious, it could have worked with mass support (maybe).
I'm more hyped for it actually coming out and playing it instead of making headcanons on what it was 'supposed' to be like many of the Versus brigade seem to fell for.
Yes, I am still hype for the game. It's the only game I'm looking forward to. And I meant to ask are they going to make more of the collectora editions or are they all gone now forever?
Oh look it's this again
boards.fireden.net
None of that is mutually exclusive and even when he said it's not versus he was talking about the fact it's not a spinoff any more and isn't treated like one because it's mainline, and then went on to say it's still has the things important to versus in it while being a bigger and expanded game.
I wouldn't expect you to do any actual research Nomura-kun.
Why don't you post all the lies Nomura made like it being a PS3 exclusive even though they later confirmed Versus was going to get a 360 release too? Or how Nomura said Stella and Noctis only meet for the first time at the party, when they are already adults yet the 2013 trailer shows a little blonde girl with kid Noctis? What about all the times Nomura changed the character designs during Versus days? Fuck even the world structure Nomura changed from being giant Noctis on an SD map to a 1:1 scale open world map like it is now.
Saying the game is not Versus XIII anymore is an obvious statement of fact, because it is now Final Fantasy XV, that is what Tabata is saying in that second article, and in the first one he is saying that he and Nomura discussed extensively about the changes from Versus to XV and that his vision is being kept, which if you had actually been paying attention to the game it has. If it wasn't then nothing in XV would share any resemblance to anything in Versus, yet there is barely any difference between a single character being replaced with another one, and some minor character design changes which isn't anything different to what Nomura already did during the Versus days.
My hype died with old Regis.
FFXIII killed my hype for basically any new FF stuff, but its built back up at least a little bit.
I'd say I'm at "cautious optimism" now. I might not pick it up right away, but I'm at least interested in playing it and think it mitebcool.
I also think World of FF looks fun.
no more shipments for ce.
I wasn't hyped for it in 2006. Everything I've seen so far made me less interested in it.
I'm actually waiting for something to become interesting. Which about the only thing that could interest me is if the open world was done well. And what they've said so far about the game just makes it sound like hunts and espers like in FFXII. So the exact opposite of what I want.
I had no hype for this game at its initial announcement. I had no hype once Nomura was dropped as director. What I saw of Episode Duscae peeked my interest but no hype. I played the Platinum Demo and enjoyed it. All in all I have no hype for this game but I will probably try it out as it looks like its going to be on par with X and XII which is fine.
Damn I hate this world. I hope its not too much from scalpers
>he liked X and XII
>360 release
Where was this?
Have you played X or XII recently? Have you played any of XIII? after the shitshow that was those 3 games X and XII are fucking masterpieces.
In one of the ATRs they mentioned it was going to get a 360 release too before they moved it to 8th gen.
after playing X-2, it only showed how flawed X is
wait you thought X-2 was good?
I stopped caring once Nomura was removed from the project. Now it's just "Final Fantasy product #15," not Nomura's Final Fantasy. Kingdom Hearts III and VIIR are the games to look forward to now.
>boy band design
>riding around in a car
>homosexual jokes
Still seems like the game Nomura was planning to make.
Nomura's vision was classier and operatic. At one point he even wanted it to be a musical. Tabata's XV just looks like an action game.
>Kingdom hearts III
Osake-ridden garbage cranked up to 11. As if BBS and DDD weren't horribly designed enough.
>VIIR
Episodic trash with Crisis Core-tier combat
Fuck off Nomurafag
>muh memey words and shitty opinions .eXD
>muh episodic is bad maymay and retarded observations
I don't believe FFXV or 7 remake will ever come out until the game is actually available to play. Hype shouldn't last a fucking decade plus, even Dr.Dre gave up on the Chronic hype. Square crying wolf too much, so I'm done till the stores actually selling it
My hype has gone down only a very small amount and that is based purely on the Tech Demo Platinum after my hype reaching top levels during Duscae Demo 2.0
The main things that have changed are the cutscenes, environmental graphics, and gameplay. All for the worse.
Hype is zero. Especially since the gameplay is garbage compared to Versus.
I think they're the Crusaders from FFVI
>in fact multiple fully explorable cities.
Except for the fact it's linear? This isn't GTA or Assassins Creed, the cities aren't affairs you can fully explore.
>you can't swim
>you can't climb
>the cities are small
>your character runs and looks like a sperg
My hype has gone down. But its not the game's fault. I just don't get hyped anymore liked I used to. I'm a fullblown adult now, not a teenager like back then.
>oh look
sup xv-kun
