Should I get it, is the port any good? what am I in for?
What class should I go? what are the differences between classes? is the game hard? I want a bit of a challenge in later levels

Heard there are some people that have crashes with amd cpus.
Only played around 1h runs at stable 60fps even with loads of enemies. Seems pretty solid so far imho.
Can´t really talk about the game but im sure other anons that played the game on ps4 can be of service.

In your case, slog through the missions, picking up green crates and every red crate you see. Once you hit mission 14. Learn how to run to the back and hide, then once things clear out. Book it to every green crate.
Once you are done, increase the difficulty and keep farming that mission endlessly. I was able to farm all the mid-range weapons. Shooting 20 homing missiles into the air to kill everything is pretty nice.
I sometimes wish they let me decide when the mission is over, like PRESS A TO CONTINUE or something

Normal is so easy even your grandma can play it, and you'll get very few weapon unlocks on that difficulty.
Maybe you'll run into some missions that are too difficult on Hard, and that should be the only time when you lower the difficulty.
It's a jap port. I should be getting better fps that that. Shinovi versus also used integrated by default.

This. There are some really fucky missions that can be almost impossible to complete on hard with the armor amount you get on the first playthrough, but they are rare and most missions should be just about the right difficulty on hard.

Mission design in IA is more like modern linear shooters where there is gated progression, you can't access this part of the level until you finish this objective, enemy spawns are isolated to a small part of the level. In the mainline EDF games, there is freedom in the way you traverse the level, you fight much more enemies at once and they're spread out over larger spaces

That one mission in the beginning with the mothership above the park shitting out hordes of flying drones is probably the worst, it's just ridiculously hard to survive when you have barely any HP and the drones just come and swarm you no matter where you are. We had to switch to normal for that, but after that it was perfectly possible to survive even on hard.

I liked it, my only issue was that the bigger enemies were bullet-spongey. I miss having a sprint and dedicated dodge button though. Getting weapons and armor seems more annoying in 4.1.

i7 actually does have an impact on some games, plus I've seen the 6700k on sale quite a bit.
On harder difficulties everything in IA is bullet spongy. The worst part is that unlike real EDF games, there's no stagger in IA, even smallest enemies just keep on coming when you shoot them.
So is this worth the $35?

3300 people playing at this very moment. Much more than 2k copies.
You get almost 100 missions, each will take from 5 to 30 minutes to complete. Tons of weapons, 4 different classes. If you don't mind games where gameplay stays the same the entire time, it's well worth it.
You can always refund it anyway.
Those weapons are also incredibly powerful. They're useful on missions where there is only boss so you don't have to worry about running out too much because the mission is over by then.

Weapons that can't be rearmed deal stupid amounts of damage, they're very good in certain missions. And weapons like Ranger's laser cannon can be turned off by switching weapons, so you don't need to waste ammo.

The only EDF games I've played are the re-make one for the PSP and Insect Armageddon. I thought IA was ok but the PSP game really blew me out of the water. It was an emotional rollercoaster and I actually cried at the last mission due to how epic it felt.
This game is the sequel to the psp one, yes? Is it as much as an emotional roller coaster as the first? When the Wing Divers first came in I teared up a bit in happiness.
