Depends a lot on what game you play and where you play. Even then you can enjoy a fighting game fine without bothering with the FGC.

Playing fighting games makes me stress sweat. It's the only genre other than 1v1 rts that does that.

1v1 is much better than team games. People always whine about their team sucking but they never just pick up a 1v1 game.

I actually don't. I play video games for my enjoyment, and competitive settings suck every last bit of enjoyment out of video games for me.

i agree that you only get the thrill of a manly 1on1 in fighting games and RTS games.
it's just to see who of the 2 is the better player.
the sad thing is that you can't play fighting games with friends really.
and it's not fun to fight your friends if the skill levels are too uneven

KOF has some pretty rough inputs that i would want noone to do on a pad.
DOA is fine too yes.
Hell i even played blazblue on pad before getting a stick.
pads really aren't that bad.
i was also doing fine with Ken during the SFV Beta.
it really depends on the character you pick.

I also have the reflexes of a dead cat and crack under pressure. So even if I did put the research work in I would hit a wall mechanically after awhile.

I always win at the reads and exchanges but I hate the idea of the combos and don't learn any of them.

I had that issue as well, but honestly it's easier to learn just playing online. You'll quickly learn how to combo break

after three days of playing sfv with a friend i can consistently kick his ass now
he doesnt want to play that much anymore though because he owns the game along with all past street fighters and plays consistently while i just walked in and started fuckin him after 3 days

PC has SF V and KI but that's like it.
