>a bunch of amateurs from Sweden make a better horror game than all AAA developers in last years
How is this possible?
>a bunch of amateurs from Sweden make a better horror game than all AAA developers in last years
How is this possible?
It's not the game stopped being scary right after the apartments.
Dedication, and it was a "throwback" and tribute to old survival horror titles on purpose.
In fact, most of the best games ever are usually made by small teams, where the innovation and freedom bloom.
Fuck you. The entire forest section and Sanitarium were way more brick-shitting.
The atmosphere was admirable only to be forgotten by its shitty corner scares and poor story.
Shut up Sven Kukven, son of Betabjorn your meme game HL mod sucks.
>jump scares: the game
Gewnuinely the most frustrating game I ever played, especially with awful combat and boss fights
>calling me a swe-fag
oh, the ironing.
It's not my fault that my homosexual country neighbors make better horror games than modern western devs.
Cry of Fear wasn't that great you fucking hipster
This is false. The game relies much more on the atmosphere and disturbing audio work than jump scares. Way too many people have just jumped that "JUMPSCARESSS!" -bashing bandwagon thanks to the beginning part with a camera.
It's just ironic that at the same time, these fuckers tend to praise shit like Dead-Space, that's nothing BUT jumpscare fest.
Afraid of Monters was better
There is only one jump scare in the begnning
it's still better than any other wannabe "survival horror" game we've got since 2004.
Shut up Bjorn Niggerson, son of Olaf Islamenabler
Afraid of monsters was the creator's Magnum Opus
Cry of Fear was an attempt at recapturing the spirit of AoM, but it failed miserably due to the shitty voice acting, poor as fuck story line and overreliance of jump scares.
Is there any other FPS that has you play a guy in a wheelchair? That secret finale sure was something.
the VA job was pretty OK, IMO. Definitely sounded like what typical emo kids do. The plot was nothing unusual, but definitely kept you second guessing all the way to the end.
And what's with the jumpscare whining? If you could stomach AoM, you should not have any problems with CoF.
Wheels!
And no, I didn't finish it. After the 4th jumpscare, in the office buildings after the floating babbyman boss, I couldn't be assed to continue.
One thing I will give CoF was its monsterdesigns. There were some genuinely creepy looking motherfuckers in that game.
Afraid of Monsters had, as far as I remember it, a better focus on atmosphere.
I dunno, its been like 8 years since I last played AoM, so there might be some jumpspooks that I don't remember.
AoM had quite a few. Cry of Fear had more.
I replayed both AoM:DC and CoF just couple years ago. The overall style is very similar in both mods, and the amount of jumpscares is greatly exaggerated in both.
Bitches just remember the CoF's camera section so well, because that's where they tend to uninstall the game.
>wearing a hoodie when it isn't raining
>cutting his wrists
>is insane
CRAAAAAWLING IN MY SKIIIN
Nice memes
here
I gotta admit, the camera section wasn't what bothered me. If anything, it was the reason why I gave it a chance in the first case. It executed a jumpscare with perfection, building the tension unlike anything I'd ever seen. The reason I uninstalled it was the reasons I listed in my original post.
It was fucking impressive for a Gold Source engine game, though.
>JUMPSCARE
>WOOOOOGAAAABOOOOGA JUMPSCARE
>DUDE IT'S SO SCARY BRO
>JUMPSCARE
>WOWOWOWOWOWOWO
>JUMPSCARE
>YOU SCARED BRO?!?
>JUMPSCARE
Love neo-Sup Forums and their shit opinions. What's next? Runner up is FNAF right?
What a garbage game
Just know that this game is eons better than your edgy hoodie memelord
Afraid of Monsters was so much better. Practically no story, no hilarious voice acting, simple and effective. Just a dark as fuck game with a tiny flashlight, and enemies that are so fast that they'll be right next to you in your face when you turn.
I would try out Afraid of Monsters if not the shit graphics.
forest and sanitarium were far scarier
>tfw that chainsaw dude hunting you down in the forest
cant remember, but i think you had to find a key to get away from him, and man those fuckers ran fast
That's a Half Life mod for you, it's unfortunate how badly the graphics have aged. It's a really good simple horror game, doesn't try to be anything but a panic inducing FPS. The enemies are their own jumpscares without being too cheap and scripted.
they lost my respect when they put a jump scare 2 mins in. Really bad fucking design decision on their part.
It is a shame the rest of the game is decent. i would have given it a chance
More like with this laughable voice acting and edgy as fuck ending
>better horror game than X
How is this possible? Somebody tell me they agree the voice acting and plot are just awful.
SOMA is the best horror game in my opinion.
CoF looks better than vanilla HL despite being a mod.
Yeah, it was the guy who made AoMs second game and he put a lot more time into it. It's the only thing that CoF has over AoM though, it'd be cool if he went back and redid AoM like CoF
>swedish game
A resounding 'nope'. Not going to even bother researching what is undoubtedly just another social politics sermon.
