Games that have aged poorly
whenever you're ready.
the only game that aged badly is your sexlife OP
so fuck you GS is still great
...
Remove sex and this is right. Games are code art and sound, it always stays the same. The things that change are you and societal trends.
This is now a Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal appreciation thread. youtube.com
Pic not related?
I think you meant Gen 1 m80.
Should I emulate or mod a cheap DS? I want to play SS/HG so bad.
This. Looking back Ho-Oh was just a generic bird. I mean, how do you weigh that against Rayquaza or Dialga?
What are the pros/cons between the DS versions and the GBC versions? Here's what I know
Pros for DS version:
>Pokemon follow you
>Updated graphics
>Updated mechanics
>New Pokemon
Cons for DS version:
>Easier trainers/gyms
>Gambling system removed
I prefer the emulated experience. I like the drayano hacks more than the original hg/ss though. I like emulation as you can get better resolution and the games play perfectly considering pokemon is turn based. Ds is fine also.
Heart gold and Soul Silver, based.
Aged fantastic, none of those shitty EV's or natures to deal with either. I also still think that pokemon music hasn't improved since gen 2.
There was a pokemon thread a few minutes ago that got deleted for some reason.
Anyway, I agree, the games are extremely slow and tedious.
Ho-oh was teased in the anime gen1 and then showed up as the rainbow flaming bird. Still a good set up. Lugia still better.
Pic not related? Red/Blue and Gold/Silver are still great games and their pokemon aren't nearly as shit as what Nintendo has been peddling in the games that come afterwards.
best in series
I am so disappointed in the music of the new games. Everything lacks soul. Both art and music are so generic and boring.
I wonder why they always speedrun R/B at GDQ but never these.
>Lugia still better.
i always disagreed 2bh. hoho looked like a pokemon, lugia just looks like a goofy cartoon
>those arms/wings
>some reason
Maybe because pokemon has an entire board for shitposting?
R/B is to cash in on maximum nostalgia for people old enough to donate themselves. It helps that the games have much more hilariously fucked glitches compared to G/S
You are incorrect OP
RBY aged much worse than GS did, but they both still hold up very well
Is BW2 the best to date?
Gen 1 was good
Gen 2 was even better
Gen 3 was all right
Gen 4 started to get weird but put up with it
Gen 5 sucked dick
Didn't even bother with 6
Is Sugimori even still involved?
Any JRPG for the NES/Famicom
Most games of early 3D modeling, specifically fighting games
I thought it made him really unique in the early 00s for a couple of reasons. Then pokemon design went to shit and everything started looking that way, and it wasn't special anymore.
>le ebin "games age" maiz maiz
Code does not age fucktard
MAKE IT LEWDER
*worst
They didn't age poorly, they were shit on release day.
>Hey! Do you know what you just did? You took your first step into KANTO.
Yep
Posting the worlds biggest cucks shit cartoons
Gen 2 had EVs.
and natures only make each pokemon you catch unique so i don't see the problem
Codes don't ages, graphics and mechanics do
>Any JRPG for the NES/Famicom
I don't agree. Mother (Earthbound Beginnings) holds up very well.
Sweet Home is a decent proto-Resident Evil meets Final Fantasy.
And Dragon Quest IV is decent.
I just looked at the graphics. They look exactly how they did when the game released. Where is the aging?
nope, just checked Gold and Silver, they're exactly the same as back on release, still great
let me try Castlevania... nope, still one of my favorite games of all time
sorry my man
Honestly It really didn't phase me. I do remember getting pissed the Celadon Mall got rid of all their good shit
OP is retard
Gen II did age well
Gen I on the other hand
Actually, Gen II proves how Gen I did aged bad.
>these are the most fun and classic Pokemon games I've played
with the exception of Pokemon Pinball
But nowhere near as cancerous, you can just max your EV's for all stats. And natures were terrible because it's just an added hastle on top of IV's that doesn't add anything but inconvenience.
>Still no ROMhacks that incorporate proper gen2 sprite aesthetic, heightened pokemon variety and accessibility, maintaining the superb art direction and atmosphere within a completely new region
I guess I'm too picky.
Is this blue's sprite art? I distinctly remember machamp looking different in red. Either way man these look fantastic. Not a fan of the anime style they adapted later on.
First post best post as always
Mother has definitely aged
>Alakazam has a jew star on his head
Enlight me.
Putting Kanto was in following manner:
- Hey we've finished with Johto, but it would be fun to put as much Kanto we can
- Johto is small, let us push Kanto inside, so we won't hear people complaining
Blews mind. Then going out from after ship cruise and listening to re-arranged music of Gen1 music is a good experience:

I like how some of the drawings has 90s anime style of drawing.
lol
in no way is b2w2 worse than xy or oras
Whoever drew Hitmonchan should have been fired.
wtf is this shit? That's not what MEW looks like on gen 1
Gen 2 sprites are so fucking good. Especially gold and crystal sprites.
Damn right it is. Gen 2 is my favorite after Gen 5.
Rate my Pokemon Stadium 2 Poke Cup team, niggers. Finished the leveling yesterday and I've had the itch to finally beat R-2 mode.
Are these the japanese sprites?
no its the shit jap version sprites that are like 15% different.
it's from green
>using sprites of early game boy games to try prove his points
>not game boy color most westerners had
This sure is Sup Forums
makes sense these are the sprites I remember.
The DS version is better in just about every single way except the music, but I'm pretty sure there's a ROM patch to replace the music with the original.
+1 for using based Marowak, -10 for using legendaries
>legendaries
Kill yourself my man
yeah that's the mew I remember
basically every n64 game
Gen 1 mew aged well.
You also unlock the option to listen to the original music later on in the game, don't you?
Still, not much better
Golbat for example
looks like an aborted fetus
>Except the music
What? Music's pretty good.

If you do I didn't know about it.
golbat is epic m80
Fallout 4
>pure bait thread
>71 replies
Good job OP.
Read the thread fucktard this is a Gold/Silver appreciation thread dumbshit
I can't play a pokemon game more than once. They're fun as fuck the first time around, but I've never done a replay without getting bored halfway through.
>TFW Pokemon games will never do this again
Now let's compare gen II sprites
Much better
>original Cloyster sprite has him open horizontally
This still triggers the fuck out of me for some reason
Whatever excuse you can make for falling for the bait.
>Obviously no one fell for the bait
>instead derailed OP thread and turned it into an appreciation thread
>"lol you guys feel for bait"
How come nobody on here will admit they were wrong sometimes? Instead they say something that makes themselves look more retarded
4>5>3>2>6>1
I just realized there were only 3 ghost type Pokemon in this entire game
too much saturated color 2bh
...
don't forget the OP psychic type that rekts everything
Not him but its just a taste thing, some of the songs are a bit too "overdone" imo, national park is the perfect example of this, compare both versions
There were only 3 types of dragons as well
It's supposed to look like a fetus.
>Ghastly literally doesn't have a form or shape
I kind of wish they would have stuck with that.
> Hating on Elder God Lugi
Please acquire better taste my man.
>Obviously no one fell for the bait
>thread got replies
I don't think you understand how it works. You must be new here.
>How come nobody on here will admit they were wrong sometimes?
That's a good question.
I always found it funny how Nintendo made Stadium for live tournament events, even though Gen I Pokemon wasn't balanced for competitive, probably because PvP wasn't originally intended.
Dragon was supposed to be the final boss type, ghosts are supposed to be rare, bugs are weak and made to fill out the forests, Mewtwo is a strong reward for beating the game, etc. The game was designed around the journey.
The old games while superior in many ways have inferior gameplay. Hence the saying that they have aged poorly because they have.
The perfect Pokemon game would take the asethetics of the old games while incorporating the new gameplay into the older games. Perhaps with the gen 3 sprite work for maximum perfection.
Thanks for reminding me of a childhood I'll never get back, fuckface
So was it true that the 100 Pokemon in G/S were originally suppose to be in R/B/G/Y but because of space limitations they cut them?
Yes, like at the very end
>inferior gameplay
In what way?
...
Yes
