Overwatch

The new update suck ass
What Overwatch really needs is a new map
but not like the shitty ones it has (some are so bad it even worth removing them from the game)
i am talking about something iconic
like "Two Fort" or "Dust 2" simple yet complex map that everyone recognizes

i like the update a ton, but the stale maps are absolutely killing this game

>soldier is better than Mccree
>buff mccree
>for some reason, nerf Soldier 76
blizzard is really weird when it comes to balancing.

I'm pretty sure the S76 nerf was more of a bug. You could set up macros to burst-fire in such a way that you never lost accuracy but fired at almost the same speed as normal firing

more of a bug fix****
fuck

I kinda want a deathmatch mode where everyone has the powers from every hero in the game.

that's what weakly brawl is for

I think overwatch would benefit from better maps but 2fort is probably the worst valve map in TF2 and is much worse than anything in overwatch.

"Two forts" is a neat idea but the implementation is horrible: few health packs and little variety of areas make for very passive, boring play with lots of walking to health/ the enemy base and little actual fighting.

How would controlling that work

the whole update feels like one big bug fix

>NOW ENTERING HANAMURA
And that's when I alt+f4

And yes, numerous maps are horribly designed. You have ones like Anubis where it's just a giant choke point in the beginning, and either you break that chokepoint or lose, or you have shit like Hanamura where it's 9 minutes of defending point B

I want capture the fucking flag in Overwatch, I'm tired of king of the hill and payload.

Hanamura or Watchpoint

I'll agree that the maps are fucking awful but you're calling Anubis's first point too hard to breach? It's infamously easy. Sudden death coin flips on Anubis might as well just be "win/lose" instead of "attack/defend"

I've always had way more trouble with point A on Hanamura than point B.

They said they don't plan on CTF. They tested it out and it ended up being just a bunch of tracers and genjis because of their move speed.

>it's infamously easy
It's infamously unfun and poor design. There's other maps with the exact same early chokepoint design where you breach it quickly or lose. It's shit.

When can we have some good, well designed maps that don't feel intentionally stupid?

>Playing competitive

>it's 9 minutes of defending point B
this is basically how all capture maps in ow work

Something about Hanamura makes it feel much worse and more boring. The map is very confined outside of the giant mansion room

All the maps are basically the same
spawn>chokepoint>objective>right/left turn>chokepoint>objective

There's little point in attempting to defend further out, since it is too easily overrun.

Blizzard needs to make maps with multiple choke points to a final goal, rather than just one major one.

when will Overwatch get their version of tc_hydro?

tc is the best game mode.

>tc
>not dead since around 2010

I just want a symmetrical map for Deathmatch, it'd be fun as fuck
So would a Tug-of-War type map

Are you kidding?

When they revived hydro before deciding to re-kill it with the removal of quickplay, it was fucking hell.

The entire map is one massive choke point.

I'd really love to be able to pick KotH instead of shitty capture points. Does anybody actually like fucking Temple of Anubis? Everybody in the group chat always groans when that shit pops up because it's virtually impossible to lose on defense unless the skill difference is retarded.

the best part of it was that you could be attacking from different sides in the map based on how you did in the previous one, it's a great concept!

They need to overhaul all the Control Point maps.
Fix the lanes and make it actually aesthetically pleasing

I want a game mode similar to saxton hale: a very huge omnic with weapons and powers from most of the heroes, insanely high armor, health, and shields, etc.

Thats like 2% of the map.

vsh has more thought put into it than most of the offical modes valve has made after launch.

no, stop
co-op game modes is what ruined TF2

I keep thinking a 16 vs 16 overwatch map of appropriate size to be super fun.

16v16 is way too much
8v8 is the max they should ever have

Overwatch proves itself as long as the game is fun, it doesn't matter if it has barebones content. Literally League of Legends, 2 months for a character.

TF2 was ruined but it wasn't the co-op game modes that did it.

doesn't mean they can't have a bullshit mode for 16v16 for a weekly, but I would say 10v10

it was one of the nails in the coffin anyway

Game needs a map and game mode like Tc_Hydro please I want an exact copy of Tc_Hydro

>2fort
Haha no
It needs new maps, but not to take notes from maps like that, they honestly need to make more maps on the level of Gibraltar and King's Row. Maybe take notes from some of the better Tf2 maps like Badlands and Gravelpit.

Ay this guy gets it

Sounds sorta like the dumb fag with a shitty mic running his suck the whole game about everyone else but isn't doing fuckall himself.

You mean Ilios and Lijang Tower (Garden/Night Market)

Gibraltar is shit

Overwatch definitely needs more maps and game modes before anything else. I am not even counting skins in that equation, those are the absolute bare minimum that doesn't even need to be mentioned.

There needs to be a constant influx of skins, there needs to be more maps, better matchmaking, maybe new modes, and then after all those some more characters. We already got one for some strange reason.

So can someone explain this to me?

>pay $60
>get 12 maps and 22 heroes
>no singleplayer
>no story of any kind
>still have to pay for skins

This is possibly the worst value proposition since Evolve came out. I like Blizz as much as the next guy but what the fuck?

>>still have to pay for skins
no? Anyone who has spent even a single cent on loot boxes is retarded.

Gibraltar is the best map in the game. Long, varied, forces switches, doesn't have a strong advantage either side.

Lijiang is good, Ilios is good aside from Ruins.

SF5 is worse desu.

>it's another Sup Forums tries to value a game by the amount of some specific content episode

It's 40 bucks. Story is outside the game. Don't have to pay for skins.

I already got 120 hours out of it, for the £30 base game, so that's 4 hours of enjoyable gameplay for every pound. Having a single player would be cute, but it would be basically an extra 10 hours of gameplay that I'd never replay, and not the kind of gameplay I bought the game for anyway.

She was originally intended to be released with the game but she played too similar to Widowmaker at the time so they changed her to what she is now.

It's a good thing that there isn't a singleplayer, and you don't have to pay for skins.
And the game is 40 bucks, not 60.
Bait harder.

Not to mention Blizzard has said Overwatch the game is separate from Overwatch's story. That's why you have Zenyatta delivering a bomb made to kill omnics, 76 and Reaper on the same team killing Pharahs and Winstons, etc. The game isn't meant to reflect what the story is about

What does Winston say when he kills Tracer? I've never successfully done it. Has anyone?

I actually like the story. Though I wonder how and when they decided "Superheroes, but they ALL use guns."

>dust 2 as an example of a good map
Consider suicide OP

Pretty much, the story is there to contextualize the characters and locations, and that's it. It does a fine job of it, people clearly love the characters, but it really don't need to be anything more than it is. Having both single and multiplayer isn't really necessary for a game, if anything very few games do both well. There's amazing examples where the two are integrated together like Dark Souls, but a lot of the time it's a symptom of a game which doesn't know what it wants to be.

>Ana's seiyuu is integra
>Pharah's seiyuu is Hamy

SO MUCH GOOD TASTE HOLY FUCK ABSOLUTELY FUCKING BASED

what overwatch need is simple tdm or ctf maps
fuck push the carts and control points
i just wanna kill shit not try coordinating with five retards

Here you can see an example of a faggot that didn't even play it yet will keep hating on it.

>its 40 not 60
>there is lore outside the game but there was absolutely no reason to include it
>You don't have to pay for shit, you can buy boxes that drop after level anyway and you need to be a fucking 12yr old to buy them

So the game forces you to have good teamwork in a team game? OMG BLIZZ

...

You obviously didn't pay attention to launch SFV. And Capcom is nickle and diming the fucking shit out of everyone with their "premium" costumes.

>seiyuu
wat

Before Saxton hale mode, it was hinted that Saxton Hale was merely a braggart, who could not back up what he boasts. Couldn't do that after the mode, though.

I also dislike the general direction the story went. So the makeshift weapons most classes use, especially the Pyro, turns out it's just intentionally badly designed weapons, instead ingenious tinkering.

So the nine guys, who could single handedly win any wars, no matter how large the opposition is, turns out they are low class assassin and mercenary scum?

The two holding corporations that secretly control every government on the planet (and both being subsidiaries of TF industries) was retconned into a slapstick fight by two twin brothers who control shit.

Fuck the direction, the story went, seriously, if it was up to me I would retcon everything.

B-bu-but user, I have more money than time.

>ome are so bad it even worth removing them from the game)

Fucking. ILIOS.

>Hey, let's make a KOTH map where the capture zone is the size of the fucking sun and is about 10 steps away from the spawn!

voice actress

>lijiang
Probably the best set of maps in the game. It feels like OW was built with koth in mind, so all the koth maps are a tier above the rest with Lijiang right on top

>its ok because Capcom does it

>good thing that there isn't a singleplayer

>already got 120 hours out of it

>Don't have to pay for skins

>Overwatch the game is separate from Overwatch's story

And to think people were giving the HotS guys shit for defending awful games because Blizzard

Saxton Hale mode is unofficial

>Sudden death coin flips on Anubis might as well just be "win/lose" instead of "attack/defend"

That goes for every map though

Gibraltar is a good and fun map and at almost every checkpoint, except the very first it's possible to win as the defenders, while the attackers also have a good chance of winning
The nature of the fighting chances with every major point as well

Lijang Tower is good as well

Yeah, but it established him as a badass.

What Overwatch REALLY needs is levolution.

>like "Two Fort" or "Dust 2" simple yet complex map that everyone recognizes

You can really tell how shit someone's video game tastes are by their posts

You don't reference good maps like Overgrown, Terminal, Blood Gulch or Bridge 2 Far?

You reference Valve's abortions? The only good game they made was L4D1.

Street Fighter 5 functions well in it genre though. Overwatch does not. The headshot boxes alone need fixing before it can even be considered a worthwhile shooter.

I'm not defending Capcom you fucking illiterate waste of oxygen.

it really does need custom servers. One thing tf2 had was that you could join a game that would last upwards of half an hour or more, and experiment with every class and build you wanted.
there was time to relax and prepare setups and everything.
overwatch kinda lacks this.
Im hesitant to swap classes to what we need because of the fact that i dont know all their ins and outs and havent been able to play around with them at minor risk. Im pretty much stuck with Roadhog/Lucio for fear of pissing off the team. In tf2, i could join a server with some retard build and have time to make the retard build useful.

Which maps should be removed then user?

Dark Souls story is just "EVERYONE IS CRRRRAAAAAAZZZZYYYY because the world is shit forever." That's not amazing that's hand-waving.

Is HotS that bad?

A Facing Worlds-type map would be interesting as a KOTH map. Control point in the middle in full view of the towers, leading to sniper duels with everyone else trying to keep their heads down.

anubis
hanamura
route 66

The story is more or less the same each game, ur some cursed dude trying to relite a fire. The setting is pretty great but people can't tell the two apart.

It a good MOBA, its just worse than the vast majority of the other ones. The objectives are only interesting until you learn the "right" way to play them. Afterwards they all become just a more annoying version of fighting for buffs/Rosh/Baron.

IMO the only reason it has a decent playerbase is because being able to play Arthas or Illidan is more important than mechanics to people who only play a handful of matches a month.

It's fanfiction, and doesn't actually change the character at all. You may as well be complaining about all the porn that shows all the cast as gay

>hanamura
>66
I didn't think it was possible to have such shit taste, user, good job

these maps are both fucking impossible to lose on attack
basically every point control map is "fuck around for a while until the attacking team has their ults, then they go in and wpaoefvunwbeapfoviunea gg go next"

route 66 has the spawn areas for defense way too fucking far away from the action; unless you have some mobility skill, it takes almost 15 seconds just to get from first spawn to the other side of the big door

>its just worse than the vast majority of the other ones
no ir isn't, the only thing that's a bummer is the price model.

Reaper needs a fixed spread on his shotgun to stop his gameplay from being a die roll.

And no headshots. Headshots don't go on shotguns

I wasn't talking about the story, I was talking about singleplayer/multiplayer integration. Which Dark Souls does well. Also the story is fine and the setting is amazing, anything can be dismissed with one sentence if you tried.

> the story is fine and the setting is amazing,
False.
> anything can be dismissed with one sentence if you tried.
Muh posting on Sup Forums

HEY YOUR RIGHT IT CAN.

>your right

RUSH THAT SHIT DOWN. RASHIDOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Went down from rank 56 to 47 today. Is this blizzard straightening out my winratio? It was 60% if you dont count the placements (3-7)

fuck you, he said its MY right

Sorry
your're right
fixed now.

You're basically wrong and have bad taste but don't worry about it.

>You're

>got to 59
>Shit team after shit team
>55

I don't understand how to carry my team sometimes. It's obscene

There are so many crazy things in the setting that they need of make maps of.
>Korea map with giant omnic attack in background
>gorilla moon colony
>mad max outback
