Mimikyu is actually really cool. First pokemon in a while that caught my attention through it's pokedex entry and design.

Every god dam generation of pokemon there's like 100 or more new ones added and only about 15 of them are ever actually decent. Mimikkyu being one of them this time round.

Most of them look fine aside from that fish full of colors, and that bear. The pikaclone looks like crap too, but pikaclones are always crap. And Mimikkyu is one of the best designs I've seen in the entire Pokemon franchise.

Honestly, if you look at the direction of Pokemon designs from Gen 2 onwards, you'll see that the aesthetic went more cartoony a long time ago. More vibrant and saturated colors, body patterns (stripes, zigzags, spots, lines, squares, etc), and less realistic limbs/extremities have been a thing forever. Gen 1 Pokemon designs are clearly an outlier in context with every other Gen.

You could change out Bruxish with something like Ariados or Umbreon or Poltoed and wouldn't feel out of place whatsoever.

My personal opinion is that Gen 6 finally got too out-there with their designs, and that Gen 7 is looking REALLY good so far.

As someone who played safire and was unimpressed, I realized the game wasn't my taste but also saw it never had any inherent flaws to design serious enough to rewok its structure or majorly affect balance.

Scrap every generation except the first one. Diversify the battle rules, with up to 3vs3 pokemon at one time.

The designs are visual though. You literally don't have to do anything other than look at them to judge them accurately.

personally I think bug is the last typing to get a pseudo legendary.
Also all pseudos untill now are dragons or dragonic well except for metagross since gen 3 had two pseudos for some reason and having 2 dragon pseudos in one gen is more than redundant.

Agreed, XY was not a good transition into a 3D Pokemon experience. The chateaus were nice but most of the region looked the same and therefore bland, they pushed the Pokemon design philosophy too far and we got some really ugly ones, and the post-main story content was extremely lacking.

I think that everything we've seen of Sun and Moon tells me that were extremely aware of all these issues and we're gonna get a much better Gen this time around.

I didn't play kalos, because I lost my preorder receit and the store didn't register me for some reason.
I didn't pay for it fortunately, but I figured that I should just wait for Z which never came.
Also if it is as bad as you say that is all the more reason for it to have a third version to fix that shit I mean look at platinum and emerald.

XY had some great designs though like Hawlucha and Tyrantrum. Same with Gen 5.

Each gen has some good designs and some bad ones.
