Competition is both sides having the same playing field and having to, y'know, convince you why you should get their version instead of the other guy's. Better graphics, lower prices, good extras, etc.

Not comparable, movies are video files, can be played and converted easily anywhere, videogames run on specific hardware, software, and controls, porting isn't cheap and only the devs can do it, whereas anyone can convert a video file to a different format
