The difficulty of that game was so mindblowingly simple and trivial that it might have fared better by not even having a game component at all.

Did you not pay attention how junctioning worked at all? Did you not get the Lionheart? That game is bafflingly easy, I think it's the only Final Fantasy in existence where you can beat almost every boss with a single character (Squall).

This fucking faggit. Fucking gay ass coercion, having AGL pre boss to completely fuck up your near full str team, and the need for super seals when all them are weak af. Oh and not to mention he will fucking attack you at least 2 out of 4 times to deal about half of your health, while the other half of the time he's charging a blast that will literally one shot you if you don't seal his super attack. Fuck that event and his D's draining ass

I encountered some sort of bug where Ciri retained all of her damage and stats from a normal new game and this guy had all his stats at NG+, so any hit I took with health below 3/4th was an instant death, but it took an unreasonably large amount of hits to kill him.

It's a weird difficulty spike because everything before and after this boss is pretty easy. Eye of Valmar really catches you off-guard and can wipe your team pretty quickly if you're not careful.

White moves do more damage to black-aligned characters and vice versa. His big ass signature nuke as shown in the OP pic is white . On top of turning your dudes black sometimes, the MC is black-aligned at that point in the game so at least 1/3 of your party members naturally gets one-shot by that move. He likes to use that move a lot. Also the start of the fight is a long ass cutscene and theres depressing music everywhere
Its also supposed to be a sad and depressing moment cuz hes your childhood friend's dad and you're currently inhabiting your own dad's transformed body.

He doesn't need to turn your party black, you're forced to have two black innate characters and the only other decent party member you have at that point is also a black innate.

There are a few of them, but this is the first real monster that requires you to be competent at the mechanics of the game. The other monsters can be bested by just getting better equipment and bashing your head against them.

Guess it is because I played FU, but Barroth was easy.

3 has some status effect bosses that can be kind of tough and 4 has some enemy encounters that'll mess you up real good. Persona has never really been difficult on the whole, I got through 2 under leveled using the defaults, but there are always some difficult encounters.

Barroth *is* easy. But not if you don't know what you are doing.
