If you ask me it's a huge mistake because now they have to take responsibility that their game isn't working.
Look at say Warframe. It's making tons of money and they're charging like $40 for every new item that comes out. If anyone has a problem with the way the game works or how every viable farming strategy is nerfed without caring how it affects those game modes or characters in other areas, they can always claim "it's just a beta". Four magic words that are impossible to argue against.

Yes. When I played the Unstable build, there were mini biomes and such. Greener planets had stretches of forests, rolling hills, swamps, and so on. Desert planets had areas of crag, stretches of sand, giant boneyards, and the like. There's also more overall planet biomes like toxic planets and such.

It does actually, sometimes lags like an MMO having server issues which is weird for a game you can play singleplayer.

terraria is a game about building and fight

>boss gives you a weapon

while instead starbound is more based on exploration

so if you like the slaying side of terraria you might not like starbound,because all of the people who enjoy starbound are also the same ones who are not going to get mad because they didn't got a worthy reward for killing a boss

in conclusion: you like slaying everything that it moves ? play terraria,you prefer a more relaxed experience and more based on exploration ? play starbound

why should I bother to continue, I already know each phase is behind a grind session with artificial difficulty to grind my playtime while I don't have any feeling of progression

i can recall a few games that "left early access" mostly because the devs didn't wanna work on it anymore since nobody was dishing money out for it (DF9 comes to mind)

Boy you are way behind on Tiy's capricious rewrites. See this Except Earth and the Protectorates all get blown up immediately and you're the only one left. You can be the one man rebuilding the organisation if you want but there doesn't seem to be any drive in the story for that. Honestly a bit puzzling why they even kept the concept if they're doing literally nothing with it.

There will always be idiots that will fall for shit like this, that's why it keeps happening.

The first planet should have a mine where you can fight a miniboss the drops 10 Core Fragments and overall should have many fragments spread out across containers inside the mine. If you can't find enough there, there it's easy to go to the bottom of the mine and get really close to where you need to be to start finding more Core Fragments.

I can't see how it'd be hard. Even on Survival, you can make bucko amounts of healing salve and the simple combos you can pull off with the beginner sword and its special attack should be enough to keep any creature you find locked in damage to take them out.

They axed the armor requirement. As soon as you get to the Outpost you can head straight to the Erchius Mining Facility with any gear you have. Same goes for the Dreadwing quest, which can now actually be done anytime you want, even before Erchius Mining facility.

Anyone who owns Starbound can play this last beta update before it goes live. I didn't see any of this shit as Hylotl, Novakid or Human. It's just wake up go get your matter manipulator, oh noes tentacles!

Early access should be the time that devs most listen to criticism. It's the only time they can actually fix shit save for minor patches.

Yeah that stuff is gone baby. Placeholder story for placeholder gameplay. The racial stories survive in a mild form of you going to each race and doing a themed dungeon and boss for their not-spiritual stone so you can open a magic door to go fight the reapers.

Looks like I'll give it another shot then. I give that game a lot of shit but I actually hope they finally do something decent with it, even if those fucks could have worked faster than that. Back when I played it like two years ago it oozed with missed opportunities and it was depressing. The very beginning of the game in the spaceship and when you take your first steps on the first planet were comfy as fuck and it legitimately felt like I was going to enjoy the fuck out of the game. Then it all came crashing down in record speeds and I wondered how the fuck so many people (including the friend that made me play it in the first place) fell for the shills that were shitting out all those starbound threads during that time.
I'm still very cautiously optimistic about this but if it's still bad they can go fuck themselves for good.

I don't think armor tiers are bad I just think "WARNING YOU CANNOT FIGHT THIS BOSS WITHOUT [X METAL] ARMOR. PLEASE MAKE [X METAL ARMOR]" is complete shit.

No need to farm armor to unlock harder planets, but now you have to farm to craft some oxygen-device thing to survive in harder planets (Or suffer severe DoT debuffs).

The main quest themselves have no armor/oxygen requirement.

it's something like rpg games,you can fight a boss at any level you want,but the higher your level the easier will it be,the reason why the game tell you that you need that armor is because people might complain that bosses are too hard,but i also agree that they shoudn't force grinding

I didn't really like the harder planet requirements since I felt that also limited freedom. Then again when I played it, it practically instakilled you if you didn't have the requirements. I thought it'd be better if it just made the planet a slough to get through without it but not impossible if you were well prepared

The damage you deal to monsters was fixed in a way that I actually kinda like, every (non-cosmetic) piece of armor improves your % of damage with all weapons, I got a drop from a main boss early on, and I managed to use it until I finished the game.

Enemy monsters hit like a truck on the first planet, but armor sets improve both max. HP and defense, so it ends up getting easier.
