When is the SNES Classic Edition coming?

When is the SNES Classic Edition coming?

>$60
>30 games
>no storage for extra games
>if you want to play any other NES games you'll have to buy $60 NES Mini vol 2

Considering Nintendo fucked this up real bad, there's no reason to expect a SNES Mini.

Nah, next we'll get the SNES mini and eventually the N64 mini. These things are basically just a glorified Raspberry Pi booting to an emulator anyway, and since N64 emulation is doable on an ARM processor it seems likely that that's where this is heading. If that's 2 years from now the tech will be cheap enough.

I would fucking kill for new official SNES controllers. I got the Buffalo usb controller but I'm finding the d-pad to be slightly inferior when it comes to diagonals.

Should have just released a cheap 50 dollar HD wii shaped like an old nes with built in nes snes and 64 games.
To ensure sales they should have built it around nostalgia and frequent nostalgia bomb sales and indie title sales.
Then sold limited numbers of their old controllers on their site to really push it home.
Then built it around streaming and media playback to basically destroy the tiny nich apple and the roku people thought they had.

November

tbqh I wasn't really looking forward to it, but my dad actually brought it up to me and seems to be pretty excited for it.

I'm gonna play Mario Bros with him.

Not that it really matters since everybody jsut uses their laptop or phone to emulate this shit anyways. This thing is aimed towards grandpas and collectors rather than people like the ones that go on Sup Forums.

>N64 mini
Without Rare's games that's literally just going to be a Mario and Zelda box.

Shit, that's a good point. Rare is pretty much what kept the N64 alive and without their games, a mini system would pretty much be nothing worthwhile but Mario, Zelda and Smash and a few other 1st party games.

The NES Classic Edition does have a lot of 3rd party games like Ninja Gaiden and Double Dragon, but that's a lot different than actually working out a deal with one of their competitors. I'm sure Microsoft would go along with it for the right price, but on principle Nintendo does not like making deals with their competition, and they never have.

Are you sure its an emulator and not the original one?

Did you think you were the audience for this?

I'm just gonna grab one of the controllers for (un)comfy NES VC on the wii/U

why would they do that when normies eat up buying their retro games at $5-10 a pop

>Wii has TV based UI and controllers
>Channel store, online downloads and payment system
>Ability to watch YouTube, Netflix, Crunchyroll, browse Internet, Weather, News
>Nintendo didn't make a smaller Wii TV with a dedication towards streaming services and an enhanced App/Game store

Nintendo could have ruled casual gaming and the Roku/Apple TV market but they treated it as a fad instead of making an actual casual gaming device

>30 games in a small Nintendo like console, 100 dollarydoos
>Emulator with over 700 games, free as fuck
Why is anyone buying this shit when you can emulate?

Because some people don't want to emulate.

>Mario 64
>OoT
>Majora's Mask
>Mario Kart 64
>Star Fox 64
>Turok series?
>Excitebike 64
>Pokemon Snap
>Wave Race 64
>Pilotwings 64
>F-Zero X
>Any of the Mario Partys
>FUCKING GLOVER

Off the top of my head. Not much but, I'd buy it

>$100 dollarydoos
your fault for living in kangoo land. also, I'm gonna pick one up for $30 once they start showing up on ebay.

>Considering Nintendo fucked this up real bad, there's no reason to expect a SNES Mini.
You're implying that Nintendo fucked up at all. The vast majority of those 30 games are the games everyone wants for the NES, and the NES Classic provides that to those people in a convenient, affordable package.

This isn't a piece of hardware targeted to you. It's targeted to 30-somethings who grew up with the NES and have children now.

You do realize that the NES mini is emulating, right?

>I'm gonna pick one up for $30 once they start showing up on ebay.

Wew lad, thanks, but I can play all NES and SNES games on my PlayStation 2

>original NES included two controllers
>all those Atari Flashback consoles came with two controllers as well
>NES classic edition includes multiplayer games yet no extra controller

>no zapper games
booshit

It's basically an ARM processor running Virtual Console, not an NES on a chip.

>realistic 3-D images

?

I'm surprised they didn't include some blackbox sports games as filler.
>Baseball
>Tennis
>Golf
>Pro Wrestling
>F1 Grand Prix or Rad Racer

>he didn't play 3D world runner

>Mario 64
>OoT
>Majora's Mask
>Mario Party
>Mario Kart 64
>Mario Golf
>Smash Bros
>Sin & Punishment
>Wave Race 64
>Star Fox 64
>1080 Snowboarding
>Paper Mario
>Yoshi Story
>Pokemon Snap
>Kirby Crystal Shards
>F-Zero X
>Cruis'n USA
>Ogre Battle 64
>Bomberman Hero
>all this was on the Wii VC and 3rd party games are on the NES mini too
Honestly if this was $60 for all these games, I'd probably pick it up. Especially if they had some gems like Mischief Makers and Gomemon too.

>if you want to play any other NES games you'll have to buy $60 NES Mini vol 2

or like... I could use my laptop? maybe...

cant have turok, too graphical for kids, which its stupid because only nostalgiafags and hipsters(whose are almost always +18) will buy it.

Do you not get how zappers worked on analogue tvs?

Bundling a sensor remote and a zapper just for Duck Hunt is pointless, especially given Nintendo is clearly trying to make the NES mini a stocking stuffer.

>Ogre Battle

As much as I want it, it wouldn't be on the list. Not even most of Sup Forums seems to even be aware of this god tier game

>Shit talking OB
Son one of my favourite games was Tactics Ogre which takes place after Ogre Battle 7 March of the Black Queen.

If they sold it for $70 with 2 controllers would you feel better?

Did you even read my post? I said it was a great game but it was not even remotely popular and went under the radar. It most likely wouldn't be on the N64 mini if they made one.

i can buy a chinese bootleg for a fraction of that.

>multiplayer games
??

yes, because nostalgiafags who won't buy the console are going to buy up all of those controllers

>double dragon ii
>super c
>dr mario
>balloon fight
>ice climber
probably more i forgot

I probably should have put People shit talking Ogre Battle.
I was not calling you out just saying in my sleep deprived way that its a good series and would be cool on a mini 64.
Rares games would be nice as well but I think Microsoft owns their ass now, shame I liked Goldeneye 64 and Perfect Dark.

This. It would be a normie box and feature games with better remakes, or unplayable (aged like milk) 3D trash. I would fucking love to see OB on the list if it was real but it just seems too unknown and wouldn't really be appreciated.

I would totally buy a N64 mini.
Still, something feels wrong about Nintendo today. Mobile games, bootleg 30-in-1 consoles and a console unannounced less than a year out from expected release don't sit right with me coming from them.

They don't want to illegitimately emulate. Believe it or not, some people feel bad for doing it.

Kids can be hipsters too, I had one of these when I was around 12-13 and I loved it.

If they made it I'd hope they would sell it with an improved n64 controller. I can't remember the name but I bought a third party one that just feels like heaven compared to the original thumb killer.

An N64 mini would be nice, just for the reproduced controllers with (hopefully) less shitty joysticks.

Mario Bros

Technically SMB, but that's more of a pass and play than actual multiplayer

Nintendo is the last of the old guard-- the once mighty Atari and Sega both fell, and only Nintendo managed to survive. Unfortunately, they've had a very hard time adapting to changes in the market, particularly with the Wii U. Their new president seems to be a very no-nonsense type and his primary goal is to get Nintendo back to being profitable. Iwata ignored things like phone gaming and plug and play games which make lots of money, because in his mind those kinds of products go against Nintendo's principles-- you buy a game system so Nintendo can sell you more games, and you need to buy a Nintendo system to play Nintendo games. That's how it always was, and both the NES Mini and Pokemon Go both break those "rules" that Nintendo has long lived by.

Kimishima has his own way of doing things, and I think Nintendo appointed him because the company needs to start doing things that Iwata was unwilling to.

The Atari Flashback made me happy just because so many kids were playing Atari games again. It showed that a good game is always a good game even if it's old and primitive.

I hope they open the NES thing up and someone puts every NES rom on it

It depends on how permanently attached the source of the ROMs is. If it's something silly like the Neo Geo X where they just soldered in an SD card then hacking it should be quite doable, but if they took more extreme anti-tampering measures we might be SOL.

Don't buy a Neo Geo X, by the way. There's a reason SNK revoked the license for it.

>Don't buy a Neo Geo X
why? what happened?

It's just an underpowered android device with really disappointing emulation quality. Robert Broglia's Neo.emu emulator works much, much better and you can run it on an android device. They also thought it would be a great idea to slap a 16:9 screen on the damn thing even though Neo Geo games run in 4:3.

On paper it was a great product idea-- basically what Nintendo is doing with the NES Mini, except it's also a handheld. However, in execution it was just a very poorly put together product. SNK was so displeased with the quality that they ordered the manufacturer to stop making them. Ironically this has made it somewhat of a collector's item, but not because people actually want to use it.

Ashens and Gamesack both tore the thing a new one when it came out. Everyone was expecting great things from it but it was just plain not well made. It was designed for pretty publicity photos more than it was for actual gaming.

Never released in the EU, people have never heard of it here.
