No Man's Sky btw

>things you can do

Absolutely not, even devs don't claim that. The game is purely based around exploration and observation which is why it will fail.

Remember the 18 billion billion!

Well, what can you do in it?

>it will fail

are you sure?

>this game launching in a month has more preorders than games launching at the end of the year
Woooooow who'd have thunk?

anything you want basically

>game with miniscule budget has enough preorders to be profitable

nice job missing the point though.

>in terms of things you can do

>see space dinosaur
>tag it
>go to new planet
>see green space dinosaur
>tag it
>get a steam refund

this
the game was made on a shoestring budget, the publisher (Sony) is a small minuscule company that has like 10 us dollars in the bank

haters btfo

Hell no, did you even consider the core gameplay loop?

>Explore planet
>Tag things undiscovered
>Gather materials
>Upgrade ship

That's it. That's all you do. It's just made in a way that you can continue doing so for pretty much forever.

this game isn't for you just move along
you know that not every game needs to be catered to you right?

"It's not for you" is not an excuse to being wrong

No, you can already to nearly infinite movent combinations in any crappy game wherey you move. That doesn't mean that's fun though.

There are more things to do with larger variations in Minecraft.

But you can't do anything you want
You can just explore around and upgrade your ship
You can't *do* ( in terms of action) almost anything
Why are you lying

No people will pick it up for a week. Realize they arent in a jap anime or a Modern military shooter and drop it once one of those release.

tons of people will enjoy the game and it will be the shit

go enjoy the latest Ubisoft offering, kid, this is not a thread for you

But you can do ANYTHING

Yea, that's pretty much the point of the game. Not much different from Skyrim(for its lack of things to do).

I'd say that a year after its launch it will be filled with mods adding thicc space babes to the procedural gen. Imagine a game containing billion variations of gyberwimmin roaming various planets.

THICCOPALYPSE IMMINENT!!!!!!

are there AI that roam the universe as the player does, can you trade/fight/diplomacy with them?
or is it just 18billionbillion different planets with different terrain/plants/animals on them and that's it really

Literally
Forum Dad: The Game

>the ultimate porn game
didn't think about No Man's Sky from that angle before, desu

All you can do is walk around and shoot stuff, hop in your space ship and shoot stuff, and go to a different planet and repeat. It might've been interesting if there was actual gameplay like hunting the different monsters and making weapons/clothing out of their body parts but you can't.

>underrated post

I would rather play a game similar to Kotor but with more than 100 planets and less than a 1000 planets.

With careful use of procedural generation and a good mix with handcrafted parts.

Or an Elder Scrolls game that has the entire Tamriel in Morrowinds engine.

>mind blown

will No Man's Sky even have mod support?

sounds like someone could easily write an AI to play the game.
wowwwwwww

I don't think the cyberfap growd would go that far. W-would they?

plz go back to /edg/ your people need you

Is OP serious right now? Game of the decade? Things you can do?
It's a game where you observe procedurally generated planets where the only differences will be differently colored animals and atmosphere.
At most, the first ,say, 100 planets will be unique but after that you'll start seeing the same patterns in every planet.

Well, porn has been the single most important thing when it comes to possibilities in internet. Revolutionary things that porn did first to sell porn.

>pretty web interfaces
>watching videos in browser
>secure online transactions
>non static advertisments

no, you can't do much, the game is very passive. and unless you have weird mutant power to memorize colors by RGB values you will see things the same after maybe 30 planets.

This game is not for you. Stop posting and get out of this thread.

Its decent if you like to explore but for low IQ morons that need constant action and quest its a bad game.

I think I will develop a binomial classification system for each planet.

>200K sales is a lot!
>mighty blunder 9 4th in the list
>kowashitai in top 10 with more preorder than what the chink leaker pretend it sold in retail

So, is the game a persistent universe? Is there a chance I'll fly to one planet and find another player has already set up a little industrial site? Will players eventually start congregating at certain popular planets, leading to the formation of alliances and wars over the most attractive planets?

Or is it just me, alone, in a universe that may as well be infinite?

>Is this Game of the Eternity?
>No, this is why
>Nah it's just not for you, get out
Really?

Players spawn at random points in the Milky Way you will never ever see another person user.Heck every single planet in the trailers YOU WILL NEVER EVER SEE THEM.

well, many players will head towards the center of the galaxy. I quess that the closer you are to the center, the more players you are gonna see.

>People keep falling for the same shitpost OP every day

You people are dumb

So what if a thousand players agree to meet at one planet at a certain set of coordinates? Or is there no way to do that?

>this is how nu man's buy fags convince themselves that their gayme isn't dead
lol

Does this game have any teleporting technology that gets you to planets you have already charted in seconds?

but you'll see the exact same trees and monsters though

I struggle to understand people who enjoy playing something that's single player with no definite endgame or a reward system.

Game sounds like the ultimate grind fest of explore and upgrade with no one to share it with.

Having so many different possibilities doesn't mean you won't get bored after 10, 50 or 100 planets.
Borderlands 2 had 17.750.000 possible guns, if you count a difference in reload speed by 0,1 seconds as a different gun it's easy to get a lot.

My point is that this number means absolutely nothing until you've seen at least ten planets and you can tell how much actual difference there is.

I am not entirely sure on specifics, but as far as I know, there is no frame of reference feature in the game. In other words, it seems that NMS doesn't display coordinates. You would have to navigate in alternative ways.

However, it is totally possible for 1000 players to agree to meet at some place. Those people would just have to find a way to do that without knowing coordinates.

IMO it seems a pretty interesting multiplayer project. Everyone in the forum tries to go to the same planet. First they would try to find iconic landmarks to see who else is nearby. And over time develop a database to direct newby players to the community area.

Okay, now I am actually probably gonna get that game. This kind of project seems very interesting for me.

>shitposting aside, how about this shitpost

Here's how to get numbers like that
>grass has a random rbg value for color
255*256*256 = 16 777 216
>we have 5 meshes
16 777 216 * 5 = 83 886 080

Did I just come up with amazing discovery or or shit, repetitive content?

they did state that their procedural gen is set up in a way that you start around pretty boring planets, but as you approach the center of the galaxy shit gets more and more alien and strange.

But is it worth to go all that way to see that is another question?

But there's only one thing you can do.

Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead

If you're hard enough

>MILLIONS OF GUNS

Can someone sum up what you do in this game that makes it interesting?

Space Engineers is a buggy mess but you get to mine resources, build spaceships, stations and contraptions with a great degree of freedom and dick around with physics. Minecraft is Minecraft. No Man's Sky looks like you fly a pre-made spaceship from planet to planet just to... look at the wildlife, I guess.

There's only a couple things you can do.
Collect resources, upgrade equipment, name discoveries, travel.

Also those 18 billion billion planets.
Hate to say but most variety will be in the height map for each planet's surface. They'll all rotate through the same handful of colors and basic materials and in the end the creatures all have a finite pool of components, so be ready for a lot of pallet swaps with slightly varying horn and neck lengths. Its like you fuckers never played Minecraft and don't know what procedurally generated really means.

And before anyone goes this will be like minecraft, no, it really won't, minecraft became crazy popular because of how much you could do thanks to the community, skin packs, adventure modes, expansion mods, it was a solid idea that was able to grow thanks to countless shit that community coded in for it.f

This? this is a console game, you're not getting shit beyond the original crap.

And tell me how fucking far minecraft would have gotten if you couldn't build and teraform those biomes and there was nothing you could do past gathering materials and building better swords.
Fuck off.

>Sean Murray

Can I build and run a space bar where npcs and player characters can come take a load off?

No, but you can build and run a space bar where npcs and players can take a load and come.

In b4 day-1 glitch that lets people instantly warp to the center of the universe.

>sony game
>mod support

lol you got me

...

yes its possible this game will have multiplayer

Why would anyone preorder a game with so much confusion surrounding it? Why not wait for it to come out and actually know what you're buying? You'd only have to wait like 2 weeks

Bro this game is a steal, 67 bucks for a game that you can literally play forever

anything?

This game will be boring as fuck. Every planet will look the same. It's a gigantic empty world with nothing to do in it. I really can't understand how is anyone thinking otherwise. Would be a good screensaver.

>"If Mario Paint has 41,664 dots available

>shitposting aside
impossible

How stupid do you have to be to be looking forward to this shit? srsly... You will play 25 minutes of this and realize your life is a lie.

Depends how much source material the procedural generation will have to work with.

>>>>>>morrowind's engine
they've used the same engine for every game since, the horrible mess that is Morrowind offers literally no advantage

I'm cool with No Man's Sky because it's basically a team of idea guys getting to go fuckin bonkers with sony's money

Whether it turns out to be a flop or a success I'm looking forward to seeing what happens

>idea guys getting to go fuckin bonkers
>Let's make universe with nothing to do in it.
WOW.

>sales mean anything

Sure Destiny is an amazing game

For a game totally based around observing procedurally generated objects? Nowhere near enough.

I think you missed the point

I think it'll be fun to discover the galaxy at first. I am 100% certain that it'll become boring and repetitive though.
If the actual minute-to-minute gameplay is fun I can see myself playing this for hundreds of hours to be honest. I don't expect good gameplay though.

>point
What crazy things they done in this game m8?

The most common argument is
>muh 18 million million

The universe has stuff to do in it but because they're idea guys and not people with any expertise it'll be a disjointed mess

So either by some miracle it'll all work well together and be amazing or it'll fail and still be fun to see what they tried to do.

This guy get's it

>All these 'what if Junko loaded an AI into Kirigiri/Naegi' theories
But they were never in the vulnerable state that DR2 established was required for this to happen.

>has stuff to do
Yep, you can walk, swim, fly.
Nice.
Not even planet with strange gravity, dimension, time anomalies or something like that. Just different grass colors.

From Wikipedia:
>Players participate in a shared universe, with the ability to exchange planet coordinates with friends,

>People think endlessly exploring the same fucking planets but with different colors is fun
The game has very little pure gameplay or replayability.
Exploring gets boring fast.

He was saying it was funny that Sony basically gave a bunch of money to a bunch of idea autists and given permission to blow it all on their childhood fantasies.

>Not even planet with strange gravity, dimension, time anomalies or something like that.
Source?
They'd be insane not to at least dick around with gravity.

gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2014/12/10/stop-thinking-of-no-man-s-sky-as-a-multiplayer-game.aspx

>The only answer that I can think of for this is a really technical one. If we were to make a game where we synchronized every player, what they were doing with every other player, then that would be impossible and no one has ever done that. What we can do is, like many games that you have at the moment, where you are flying around with an open lobby. People are coming into that lobby and leaving it – like if you play Watch Dogs or something like that. Effectively, we have players joining your discrete space. We're not trying to make an MMO where you can play with literally 60,000 people on screen. We handle the case like where other people can fly past in your game or that you can bump into other players in the game.

>But that's okay for us because it will never happen. I guess the whole of the entire community could organize to go to one specific spot and then they would find that they weren't all there at the same time. That would be ridiculous.

>They'd be insane not to at least dick around with gravity.
They said so in the "70 questions about nms" video, look it up.

I do not talking about different g variable. But about weird stuff Interstellar style.

>their childhood fantasies.
It is fucking nothing. This game fucking nothing.
Ultimate walking simulator and gamedesign impotency.

How hard are you samefagging this thread

Where did the NMS devs touch you

>Infinite planets to visit
>Weird looking aliens everywhere
>Upgrade your spaceship with trash you find lying around
>Do stuff for science
>Omnipresent space police chase you

Is this game trying to be a Rick and Morty simulator?

They could make the game way more interesting if you were allowed to build shit on the planets.
Leave a mark other than it being named.

But no, we can't have that, otherwise every 3rd planet would be cock & bollocks.

>18 billion billion
Go back to reddirt, it's quintillion

This is gonna be one of those overhyped games, isnt it?

From what I've seen, its simplified Elite Dangerous with planet landings and exploration. And Elite was dull as hell.

>unique explorable planets

Yes, a blue planet with red animals is completely different then the same planets and animals, only different colors.

Or something else

People are stupid if they think this is going to be anything but a nice niche for a week or two.
Remember how Borderlands was supposed to have billions of guns? Remember when you actually played it and realized there were only 15 guns with slightly varying stats? Yeah, this will be the same. Once you've seen a few biomes and a few creatures you'll quickly notice the repeating base patterns the algorithms are based on.
