what is Sup Forums's opinion on assassins creed unity? I played it on PC with a better frame rate than console and I really enjoyed it
What is Sup Forums's opinion on assassins creed unity...
shallow game. terrible co-op despite the game being marketed as an actual co-op game. ran like shit and was full of bugs. terrible game
It's looks absolutely amazing and I actually love the running and climbing. Sword play is mediocre and so is the story.
>7.5/10
Had damn good looking graphics at launch
Stealth and fail conditions were greatly improved. The added challenge was very much welcome.
Couldn't save the game from having a horribly written story, terrible characters and wasting a setting as potentially awesome as the French Revolution.
Shit story and characters, microtransaction and mobile game chests in the game, and the absolutely inexcusable amount of bugs and glitches ruined it.
Yet, somehow, Ubisoft found a way to make Syndicate worse.
one of the best looking open world games.
also liked the heavy armor.
I used to dress my guy with heavy armor, two handed axe on the back, and a musket, gave me an Arcanum feel to the game.
that's all the good I can say really, still one of the better AssCreed games.
Terrible performance marred an average game.
A fucking 1080 has issues with keeping a constant 60fps
I thought that it was fairly well optimized. You couldn't get a smooth 60, but (besides the cutscenes) overall it ran pretty good.
>bought day1
>attended might release and took day off
>played until first assassin mission with the "kill him in confession booth for massive damage"
>at confession booth waiting for him undetected
>time and space fracture and a door of light appears
>"come on the brotherhood needs us"
>walk towards the light and got into a multiplayer game
>escort mission
>bug where escortee walked at a snails pace
>stick with it
>almost finish
>escortee fell off the map before she reached checkpoint
>game never ends
>turned it off
never finished first assassin mission
>ok game
>bad performance
>mobile stuff plastered on
I'm fine with it being considered terrible. Ultimately it forced Ubisoft's hand and I'm getting the setting I wanted with a 4 year dev cycle
You've mixed like 3 things from the game
Before I got my xbone I played it for a little at my best buds house. This is when it just first came out, all the bugs, and frame rate issues where pretty bad. Also trying to get the outfit from the first assaians creed was fucking stupid.
Eventually got my own xbone and found the game for 15 bucks, they fixed some of the bugs, story was pretty good up until the end, and had a feeling the chick with the red hair was gonna die. Beat the game in a few days so was able to return it. Bud said the coop was shit and got rid of his also. >7/10
Forgot to add that I noticed they changed the way you get the first assaians creed outfit, did it all and it said it was still locked. Did also push me more to return it and not give a fuck.
I've enjoyed it for the most part however the co-op shit has nearly made me drop the game several times. The co-op missions you have to do if you want upgrade points and doing them solo is a headache as they were built around multiple people, and the heists are a fucking drag to slog through.
Everything else has been enjoyable and I'm not really getting the complaints about bad characters. Arno and Elise are decent, marquis de sade is pretty great to name a few.
Yet to complete it and I got it in the summer sale so take my impression as you will but Unity so far is certainly better than Revelations, 3, and those side games.
Copied from another non-AC thread:
Black Flag, Syndicate, and Unity are the best examples of how shit AC has become.
Black Flag
>barely an AC game
>a metric fuckton of tailing and eavesdropping missions
>too many naval missions, even for a pirate game
>shitty, unrelatable characters
>MC is easily the worst Kenway - in fact, you wouldn't even know he was one if Ubisoft didn't cram that shit down your throat at every opportunity
Unity
>terrible Ezio clone with Templar love interest (ripped off from Altair and Maria)
>like Black Flag, there's no believable explanation for the MC having Assassin abilities
>microtransactions
>extremely buggy launch
>so bad that Ubisoft gave away DLC
Syndicate
>nearly every character is a bad cliche
>Evie is a unlikable cunt
>more microtransactions
>loading screens are long as fuck
>worst combat in the series
>Jacob has terrible outfit variety - tons of fucking top hats
>"progressive" Victorian London - female gang members, no prostitutes in the main game, "transgender" character especially written for the game
Oh, and Unity and Syndicate both have "easy mode" eagle vision. You can see and mark enemies through walls.
Also, once fully upgraded, Evie can turn invisible while standing still.
It was nice to see ubisoft having balls for a change, even though it didn't end the best way.
Is Syndicate good on PC?
I've only played 2 and Black Flag, kind of interested in playing another asscreed and Syndicate has a cool aesthetic like Black Flag
What are the requirements for Legacy Outfits now?
Don't forget the DESIGNATED romance between Pajeet and Evie. That shit felt so forced.
Black Flag was great except for the assassin-related shit. Pirate games > Any Assassins Creed game
but black flag is the best AC game after the original one dude.
Syndicate is shit. If you liked Black Flag, you should play Rogue. It's better
I have a few issues with the game.
>very few actual story missions
>leveling up your abilities isn't fun when they're abilities that have been usable from the start since AC2
>opening the entire map from the begining of the game is pointless when half of the chests are locked until sequence 9 and half of the side missions are locked until you meet characters in regular missions
>arno is an idiot who does everything wrong
>co-op missions aren't good and the present day voiceover is dumb
You can unlock every previous assasins outfit except altairs from going around the city and find the golden box icons. Altairs is you have to beat the game to do all the helix riff missions supposedly and that's it. 100% all of those missions and didn't do jack shit for me.
Please drink bleach. You're a casual even among casuals.
I haven't played it but I guarantee it's bad because the combat in that series is awful.
Oh, I forgot
>arno can inexplicably see the memories of the people he kills without the use of precursor technology
so which one is better? that AC2 dlc one?
hang youself
m8
Syndicate was my favorite AssCreed since Brotherhood. I loved Black Flag too but for the pirate stuff.
Fuck, man.
You know what bugs me? I haven't actually played Unity, btw. That OC Donut Steel Assassin outfit that's just a recolor of Altair's.
Brotherhood better than Black Flag? Definitely.
Even III, with it's hours-long tutorial, is better than Black Flag.
2 > Brotherhood > Black Flag > Syndicate > 1 > Revelations > Unity > a steaming pile of dog shit > 3
Jesus, user.
The only things Syndicate has going for it are The Dreadful Crimes, The Huntsman outfit for Jacob, and the Shao Jun outfit for Evie. Occasionally, the game looks nice but not as good as Unity.
guess you don't like pirates
No it isnt you stupid faggot
2 and Brotherhood are the only ones better than Black Flag
Everyone who posts these dumbass, subjective rankings should kill themselves.
Assassins Creed 3 is by far the worst game in the series though.
>Original Character witnesses the boston massacre and tries to stop it, takes part in the boston tea party, literally rides the horse on paul revere's ride and attends the signing of the declaration of independence
Killing a bunch of historical figures I can live with, being friends with Leonardo da Vinci I can accept, but being involved in every major event in the American revolution (none of which involve assassination in any form) is the straw that broke the camel's back.
I thoroughly enjoyed The Pirates of the Caribbean movies, despite the awful romance.
read through again. It's shit.
Better than IV's meaningless relationships and plot.
>Meaningless relationships and plot
Nigga that game had more meaningful sidecharacters and templars than Revelations, Unity and Syndicate.
Only slightly matched with Rogue for that.
>"Black Flag is good"
>that's it
>no points as to why
>Black Flag
>barely an AC game
After 3 that was a bonus
>a metric fuckton of tailing and eavesdropping missions
which were balanced out with other missions and location exploration that was usually filled with bad guys waiting to be knifed
>too many naval missions, even for a pirate game
There's no such thing as too many for a pirate game
>shitty, unrelatable characters
Unless you were a pirate, relating to their way of life would have been pretty hard yes. Luckily they were decent so it wasn't a problem
>MC is easily the worst Kenway
Not as long as Connor exists
The only one I'll give you is the tailing missions. They're a drag in every single game and there was no need for black flag to have so many.
It barely being an AC game and there being a lot of naval missions was fine though. It's clearly meant to be a departure from the norm and it really shouldn't have been a numbered title.
My complaints for black flag would be:
being forced to have two matching swords instead of just one or mixing them was a bad idea
underwater diving with the sharks and eels was the least enjoyable thing i've ever done in an assassins creed game
The Templar were pretty good, I admit. All the pirates, including Edward, felt way too safely written. They were boring.
Actually there's some minor differences with some of the detail, though the Thomas outfit does fit more in Paris than Altair's whiter than powder robes.
Nvidia gameworks really holds up in the game, especially with those still shots. Never played but have seen plenty of these shots, and love how close it is to something like Vray. Not sure how it would hold up in real time.
You're not good at this.
All of your counterpoints are either "3 was worse" or "Well yeah, BUT..."
Nah, Thatch was the best written right next to Mary Reed though she wasn't much of a pirate as she was Edward's living conscience. Everyone else was lacking. Heard they cut out Jack's side missions because of time and Vane and Hornigold seemed to just have development offscreen which feels rushed from player perspective
>it really shouldn't have been a numbered title
Indeed.
You didn't try, I didn't try. You just wanted to complain, simple as.
Replaying AC3, there was really a uniqueness to the first six sequences with Haytham and the funky bunch. They even had optional dialogue which delves into each Templar's past. Missions were sadly too linear but overall they really were interesting.
Incredible lighting and visuals.
Everything else is ~eh~. But that's how I feel about all the AC games except 2.
Thatch was awful. I was extremely disappointed in that.
Mary Reed was okay, but her disguise wasn't convincing at all. It really feels like a bad joke - watching these characters call her a boy when she's clearly a woman putting on a deep voice.
I would've much preferred a Haytham game over Black Flag.
I think they meant for Reed to be a teenage boy barely out of puberty but the actress couldn't pull off a deeper voice that didn't sound like she had a cold.
What would've been better is if ACIV was ACIII and the Haytham missions would've come as a surprise extra after achieving 90% game completion, or realistically a DLC. Because seriously, playing as the child of the previous protagonist would sell gangbusters.
Playing as Ed's daughter would just be playing AC:Arabian Hot Coffee
Or a full AC Russia or China. Fuck Ubisoft for wasting those settings and characters.
It probably would. I still like Connor much more than Edward, though.
>no Haytham outfit in Rogue
>the closest thing to it is DLC
Fuck you too, Ubisoft.
That's almost as bad as 3 having the Aquila outfit as dlc
My bad on the late reaponse, but it does look the same but has a few new touches. I don't remember exactly what was different.
Come to think of it, Unity really did try to be like the older games' protagonists.
>Altair robes redesign cameo and medieval fights at the start
>Templar love interest (Maria Thorpe)
>Arno's hairdo and ladies man thing from ACII Ezio
>Revolution theme and the plot of trying to giving working with the Templars a try from ACIII
The worst about the cosmetics in ACIII was that they were all great alternates but the bow with the string that clips through your body just kills it.
Connor was a risky character for ubisoft and the end product proved it. I did like him for being unique and realistic but disliked him for being less interesting than his father.
The homestead missions really made him shine. Comfy as fuck.
>Haytham outfit in Rogue is just a recolor with some slight detail differences
The chest belt thing is an Assassin logo rather than a triangle and an extra belt around the waist. That's about it.
Russia they did in comics, and they even made a model render for Nikolai but they never used it outside of pic related.
China would've been a great game for Ubisoft who seemed leaning towards "oh shit aveline didn't make it as a popular stronk independent woman, gotta make another" but they wasted it on Evie.
Really? I thought it was the exact same outfit.
I'll check out the comics, but the render is a kick in the nuts.
I like Aveline and think Liberation is a solid AC game, especially seeing as it was originally a handheld game.
Best AC game with *decent* stealth mechanics and combat that has the depth of a kiddie pool instead of a toilet.
My biggest problem with it is that Arno is a blatant Ezio ripoff and the fact that everyone speaks in a British accent (wouldn't care so much if I didn't love the fact that they were doing an AC game in France).
Top-tier voice acting though; Elise was really good.
>Top-tier
>Britbong accent in france
On top of that, I did like that the snipers could actually kill you and that the game's bulletsponge superenemies in the red zones of Paris would actually make you think "fight or flight".
But then again I went on a vanilla run of ACUnity so I can't really say much if you upgrade yourself to the fullest.
I'm planning on storytiming the comics before the movie comes out in December, though not sure if I'll just do Nicolai or the current run of AC and AC:T.
The one thing that really annoyed me is I unlocked just about everything in the game except altairs robes, and some expensive weapons/upgrades. Even getting the game after the update and just 100% the helix riff mission only instead of doing both helixriff and that fucking app bullshit.....it was just a big let down for an "update".
Actually it was in ACIV.
Rogue only had a couple of blue Privateer/Captain outfits that resembled Haytham's but not his actual outfit.
Just started replay as rifleman its a different experience i guess.
Who decided that Ezio's definitive look was his Brotherhood robes? Aside from the collar, I'm not a fan of it at all
Bro AC4 was a great game for reasons unique to itself but it was hardly an AC game.
Very bad story and characters
Good graphics
Decent optimization post patch
Very buggy movement. When it works I like it more than Syndicate's moving, but there are a lot of times where arno will randomly jump to certain ledges for no reason and won't go where you want him to
Best fighting mechanics in the series
Coolest city with the most detail, but very poor level design since most areas are designed around co-op with the single player as a second though.
Altair's robes are unlocked by finding the hidden helix objects in the helix missions.
Honestly, it took me a day because you have to repeat all of the helix missions three times to get the objects to appear.
It's way too clean for all the bloody shit he did at Brotherhood.
There's a certain style to II's vanilla robes, but even back then it was too flashy to be inconspicuous, like Connor's outfit.
All of Black Flags outfits look like garbage to me, though I haven't used the DLC one(s).
I think it's stupid that they always give them their initiate robes except Ezio, he always gets the Brotherhood costume.
I also hate how we never get their master outfits, ever. We don't get Altair's black master assassin outfit other than in 2. We don't get Ezio's master assassin outfit. We don't get Connor's. We don't get Arno's in Syndicate.
Edward never had a master assassin outfit so that's whatever.
The fact that you cant even hold a dagger with the rifle was truly disappointing
great looking game, everything else is shit. Black flag is way better.
Unity Vs Syndicate, which is better?
and also: is any actually worthwhile? been thinking about getting one of them
Unity is more ambitious, Syndicate is more polished.
Story wise...
Unity has a more unique story but nothing happens in it and it's pretty shit
Syndicate has a meh story, but it's super basic and barebones.
Was Aveline the only female Assassin that you get to play as? She was a real badass too. If only her game didn't include that whole "slave persona" shit. That shit made me want to hang myself.
DLC outfits are fantastic if you remove the clipping swords and the blowpipe.
Why where they called master outfits in ACUnity then?
Well that's good to know now. When I watched videos/read up on them never said anything like that. Just 100% percent them. Well nothing i can do now
...hahahaha..hhaha...ha...fuck..
Technically you get to play as Connor's mother in a loading screen, and you get to play as a fem Templar-turned-Assassin in the multiplayer, though her story was only through the facebook game. Didn't like her as much.
>Why where they called master outfits in ACUnity then?
Because Ubisoft is retarded and they were never the actual master outfits you get in the game.
Evie
But she's an annoying feminist bitch that drags Jacob down.
The funny thing was I spent the whole of Unity hating the game more than I did for III yet my AC autism wouldn't let me put the mouse down until I unlock the Altair costume.
It gives me flashbacks to...ACIII's air assassinate grenadier 100% synch mission for a buggy ass Altair robe...
>Edward never had a master assassin outfit so that's whatever.
He had that Native American mystical pyramid armor that magically routed bullets away from it.
Unity, and that's only because Syndicate managed to be worse for a rehash.
Nah, the special collectable armor is never their personal master outfit
That's right... never played it for too long. Syndicate was not only the only AC game I never finished, it was the only one I outright refunded. I actually swore off the series because it was so awful.
You and me both, though I do plan on finishing it one day...if just for the outfits...
God they wasted so much potential. I remember when Sup Forums speculated about london being the Assassin Jack the Ripper with the whores he killed being templars and used as propaganda to weed him out before the trailer came out.
>worst combat in the series
fucking how? How many iterations have they not had? I remember watching the Unity demo and the commentator said that the enemies all attack at the same time now so I assumed it was a lot better from there on out, but apparently not?
