Define "hidden" and "gem".
Amazing game that isn't nearly as popular as it should be.
Van helsing
The Ship
Hammer watch
Great games that are somewhat obscure
Pathologic Classic HD but it's probably not hidden according to Sup Forums
Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition
Never in my life i have seen pathologic get talked outside Sup Forums
Even in here we had daily threads for a couple days after hd release and they died
...
Victor Vran is better than Van Helsing in every single way.
Fucking sucks senpai.
MEMES
Gigantic Army
Armed Seven
Gunhound Ex
Vulkaiser
ALLTYNEX Second
Hard Reset Redux
worms armageddon
It's literally worse in every single way, if we're talking about the modded Final Cut version of VH
>modded final cut
explain, modded how?
LISA
...
...
Mercenary Kings if you like 2d shooters and monster hunter
Oceanhorn was pretty okay, it's a 3d zelda.
bit Dungeon II
Year Walk
the last 2 are short, like 3h
>hidden
Surprisingly AGDG makes pretty decent games
war of the human tanks
it's weebshit by an actual jp developer, not like a lot of the western shit that's merely pretending
UNDERRAIL
Well. Not a gem as much as kinda passable if you are bored and like linear RPG's.
But Mars: War Logs. I got it during the summer sale for like 2 bucks. Never heard of it before, not even on Sup Forums, was pleasantly surprised by it. It's not exactly good, but quite fun if like me you have a liking for games that have a lot of heart and passion but never quite made it all the way.
It's basically a low budget version of Witcher 2.
Think they just released a sequel called The The Technomancer or something. Don't really know anything about that one though.
I mean there are some ancient games that were outstanding in their time that you can get now for dirt fucking cheap (although you can just pirate some of these or get on GoG):
Painkiller
Disciples II
Dark Messiah of Might and Magic
Evil Genius
Gothic 2
Total Annihilation
Jagged Alliance 2
Metal Slug 3
Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl
Serious Sam
Torchlight
Universe Sandbox
All overpriced desu. Worth buying on sales though.
>tfw we will never get a Evil Genius sequel
That game has so much going for it. It's like they made a game with my tastes in mind.
>Surprisingly AGDG makes games
fixed that for you
I forgot Freedom Force
none of these are hidden gems
they are well known good games.
vampire of the sands dev gets nothing if you buy it on sale, absolutely nothing
And then they actually get somewhere with their game and they get shit on and booted out of the general faster than the speed of light.
It's funny. game dev threads on Sup Forums are fun as hell. I always visit one of those threads when they pop up. But every time I visit AGDG and think "maybe it's better now" I just end up losing my will to live.
Only played RoR, Lethal League, Deadbolt and Va-11 Hall-A.
Liked all of them though
I know. But "hidden gem" is ambiguous even with
I can easily sum up my experience with Renowned Explorers in three phases:
>1) Hey this game is pretty charming. Seems too shallow to stay fun though.
>2) JESUS CHRIST WHAT IS THIS RNG BULLSHIT HOW IS THIS EVEN FAIR?
>3) How the hell is this game so good and why can't I stop playing it even though I unlocked everything and beat every difficulty?
So, it's basically Expeditions: Conquistador - Cartoon edition?
Kind of.
It's geared towards multiple short playthroughs though, not one long story. There's not much story to it at all, other than rather barebones mission descriptions and events. Basically you create a party of three explorers and you have to gather renown (through wealth, status and/or research) by visiting different locations and grabbing as much treasure as possible before the deadline is up to get top score and beat your rival.
thea: the awakening
Leap of Fate
King's Bounty: The Legend
TRANSFORMERS: Devastation currently -75%
The Darkness II
last one is not very hidden tho
Sounds neat. Might give it a try.
E.Y.E divine cybermancy
Yeah VoS isn't the worst offender, but stuff like Aviary Attorney isn't worth 15 fucking bucks.
>thea: the awakening
>TRANSFORMERS: Devastation currently -75%
Can confirm these two are pretty fun.
I didnt much like King's Bounty though, nor any of the sequels.
no i mean he literally gets nothing because black shell media is a vulture publisher and they slash his prices to under a dollar every sale so after they and steam have their cuts he gets.....
at least on itchio j.itch.io
to anyone else wanting to filter certain tags out through steam searches just - the tag ID in the URL for example indie is 492 so
>sign up with terrible publisher
>surprised he gets fucked in the ass
Who the fuck even needs a publisher for such a game?
i did tell him this.
vulture publishers LOVE greenlight because it doesnt take much to get through but it's difficult enough that small devs have a hard time (and steam tells you nothing meaningful about the process or timeframes or anything) that desperation can set in especially if you really need money.
as much as steam community likes to complain about greenlight quality control it's even worse for indie devs because steam is a downright toxic environment.
