>“Pokémon Go” was developed by Nintendo affiliate Pokémon Co. and Niantic Inc., which was spun out of Alphabet Inc. ’s Google last year.
Publishers haven’t disclosed download or revenue figures. David Gibson, an analyst at Macquarie Capital Securities, said “Pokémon Go” already has become the biggest-ever smartphone game in the U.S. and is on its way to earn $4 billion in annual revenue. That would compare with $2.3 billion in revenue last year at Supercell Oy, the Finnish creator of the popular mobile war game “Clash of Clans.”
man if only sony could make shitty mobile games then it would be the best
Cameron Murphy
Holy shit I just noticed the @SonySantaMonica in that image. Sony are literally butthurt over the success of GO. That's hilarious.
Andrew Kelly
Would actually be Nintendo fans on suicide watch because as history has shown Nintendo goes where the safe money is and now they just found a gold mine of safe money.
Say good bye to any future Nintendo consoles after the NX is dead.
Zachary James
Enjoy Nintendo focusing only in mobile games for now i guess
Robert Walker
Nintendo didn't make GO.
Angel Gonzalez
yeah people keep forgetting that here
Landon Cruz
Yup. Its funny to watch such a one mighty powerhouse cry over video games.
Jeremiah Hall
I didn't say they made it did I? Stop trying to make up your own narrative.
Dylan Cooper
So why is Sony and its niggers crying?
Matthew Collins
Sony already makes shitty mobile games. What do you think the Vita was for?
Aaron Russell
Fanboy wars are beneficial to business, Samsung/Apple do.the same sorta thing.
Justin Phillips
Well the fact they didn't make it means they have significantly less chance of making more like it (since, again, they didn't make it). Plus, it's kind of a moot-point when any company can see GO's booming success and try to replicate it - including Nintendo, Sony, and.Microsoft (though oddly MS doesn't seem to have entered the mobile scene, both Nintendo and Sony have already released projects in them with apps like Miitomo and Run Sackboy Run respectively)
David Williams
>realease a buggy game with reused assets >get away with making 4 gorrillions Man game devs have it easy now a days.
Benjamin Adams
That didn't answer my question.
Cameron Smith
...
Lucas Torres
>Well the fact they didn't make it means they have significantly less chance of making more like it (since, again, they didn't make it).
They have a vested interested in their IPs and they clearly paid someone else to make the game for them on mobile. It's bringing them revenue regardless and it's been a success so far which Nintendo has a history of staying with the safe bet rather than proceeding with failures (ie. Earthbound in the US and thus never putting anything else in that series in the US until very recently and only on VC).
Hunter Jones
FUCKING DELETE THIS
Liam Jenkins
nintendo had LITERALLY nothing to do with the game
LITERALLY no effort from them. no content, no advising, no opinions.
Nintendo will still fall despite the autists inflating their stock.
Eli Russell
The fact that any of you chucklefucks are happy a shitty mobage is successful helps show that there is little hope for future gaming that isn't casual as fuck.
Jaxon Roberts
Yes it did - Sony is "crying" because the 'us vs. them' attitude works positively in their favor, simple marketing trick of creating a split between fandoms of different brands. Sony fans are "crying" because they don't like seeing GO everywhere and, like Sony had done, blame Nintendo as the enemy when in reality they have almost no involvement with this.
So did you ignore the rest of my post pointing out how Sony and Nintendo both already have mobile development divisions or what? They're not taking over, their mobile divisions are always treated as subsidiaries - GO was an unexpected outlier thanks to the impact from the Pokemon brand alone.
Levi Russell
I don't think so, Pokemon GO boosted Pokemon games sales
>1. Pokémon Alpha Sapphire – 148%
>2. Pokémon Omega Ruby – 148%
>3. Pokémon X – 238%
>4. Pokémon Y – 188%
>5. Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon – 65%
>These five games in total –148%
>Pokémon Total – 145%
>Cheap mobile app >Profitable >Advertise main games
I sure Sony's fine. I mean they've got the Ghostbusters brand after all.
Nicholas Nguyen
Given how you ignored the fact that I never once said Nintendo made Pokemon GO, ya I ignored the majority of your tirade.
Colton Watson
>Supporting any console nowadays >Not making it casual as fuck already.
Jaxson Sanchez
I didn't ignore that fact, I wasn't arguing against you - I in fact brought it up in case others in the thread got the wrong impression from those posts.
Andrew Moore
It's not a fair comparison, Nintendo is a vidya company while Sony is also into the real state business.
Lincoln Bailey
>puzzle and dragons knocked down to 5 Oh fuck. Maybe NA will actually start getting the updates at a reasonable time now, at least.
Christopher Cooper
Not even a Sonygger but pokemon has the benefit of being an established childhood franchise in a time when mass marketing has spent billions pushing for the infantilization of consumers. Compare that to clash of clans which started with nothing and is basically a beautified skinner box but still managed to make billions.
Noah King

Remember when Nintendo made exclusives often for their own console?

Nintendo has enough money to last them for about 50 years, so they will persist for a long time
Jason Perry
The Wii U is dead, all projects were moved to the NX.
Josiah Nguyen
>people have said that for years now >people will say the same thing 1-2 years after the NX launch
Isaac Nguyen
>tfw I don't support Nintendo or Sony >avoid disgusting mobile phone games and 60 dollar hallway simulators
Good times ahead.
Daniel Murphy
Yes user that's how companies work, they have giant vaults full of cash under their head office.
Angel Morales
Not him but it actually looks to be true now given the lack of releases for Wii U this year. Not even bothered as there's a lot I haven't played yet on the system
Liam Kelly
Then what do you play?
Daniel Scott
If we're counting this year alone, I have quite a backlog I'm trying to get through. Some shmups, platformers, a strategy game I havent played in a while, some friends want to try Starbound post-release (which will be trash if Chucklefish's previous track record is anything to go by).
I also have a free remake of an older game thats coming out soon.
Samuel Walker
>Sony >supporting the Vita You are this retarded.
Jack Johnson
But specific games though? I want some recommendations
Adam Miller
>Q: While NX details are not being announced today, I want to know about its effect on results for this fiscal year. Previous launches have not had enough titles and were therefore slow to start. Can you promise to have a proper lineup at launch? The Wii U was a net negative, so also in consideration to cost, please tell me how the first year of the NX will contribute to results.
A: As the concept and other details of NX will be announced another time, I will just answer the points of your question. As you said the software lineup will be built-up. Having a full software lineup when the hardware launches is one reason for the NX launch timing. Also, we must be in a state to release titles not just at launch, but continually afterwards. We are planning for it to be a platform that will be played for a long time.
Tyler Rodriguez
Recommendations? Can do.
Hudson Campbell
>Stardew >Multiplayer is never going to come out because Ape handed it off to chucklefucks
Hunter Wright
Just gonna leave this here
Luis Diaz
You're a microcuck then.
All you have are hallway simulators.
Jaxson Perry
And what gave you that idea? Do you think I'd support the Xbox One when it's a 1:1 carbon copy of the PS4?
Brody Howard
>FNAF World >all those mediocre indies user you're not trying to ruse me again are you?
Isaiah Wright
>that fucking Drake
Luke Harris
Hey, they're the best games of 2016, mate. So if they're mediocre, then you can imagine how horrible the rest of the industry has become.
Ethan James
not to mention all the plushies/bedsheets/party supplies with pokemon all over it.
Michael Bennett
What does pokemon have to do with sony?
Leo Watson
So this is why the PS4 has no games, Sony were too busy making mobile apps
Michael Butler
Or you've been totally ignorant to the other great games of 2016 like...uh. Shit, you're actually right. Not even joking, I actually can't think of even 1 - what the fuck has happened to this industry?
Chase Phillips
Look at the twitter handle.
Anthony Brooks
Why do you think I said i was taking care of my backlog?
Joseph Collins
Seriously been trying to tell you faggots this since it launched, the plan is for these mobile apps to advertise the actual games and drive sales of those. It's called synergy, they're not just gonna sell out to mobile when they can make money on the apps AND by making games to sell. Fucking idiots.
Wyatt Evans
They were making them #4theplayers
Hunter Wood
You can also say goodbye to them putting any quality into Pokemon games.
>2016 and 50 installments in, and not a single pokemon game has a proper hard mode put into it
Kayden Perez
Not a fan of GO but this a shit argument. It's not like Sony develops more than a fraction of the games that make playstation a hit.
Jack Campbell
I'm sure when it dies down, PAD, Shironeko and Monster Strike will fight for Top 1 Grossing again.
Jose Collins
Actually disregard that, I didn't read the whole conversation and didn't realize what the point you were trying to make was.
James Lopez
Yeah eventually FGO will be back up to top 10 since a majority of the games aren't even updated yet and Sony owns Fate/Grand Order
