There's no reason to think it's going to use old levels. Iizuka specifically said it wasn't a sequel (ie not Generations 2).

I feel in sonic adventure 2 those levels weren't done very well, having to stop movement to constantly pull a lever to switch gravity was kind of lame, if they made the gravity changes a lot quicker and more fluid then these levels would be great choices

Well the trailer looked like he was running on a post apocalyptic Rooftop Run stage, which I found interesting, coupled with classic Sonic and the different looking Death Egg Robos there's not much room for imagination without thing it's Generations 2: We Edgy Again Edition

I loved that level. Just storming the Egg Carrier, blowing up cannons and shit. It made me feel powerful.
