It's basically up to luck whether or not you'll get fucked on the fourth stage and it gets to the point where the optimal strategy is hiding between the slots of the building to trick out the giga nigga AI.

Every time time I replay the game I always play and beat it on Hardcore Mode.

I will confess that I have the special edition with the flask but even before then I had the normal version and played the game three time with Hardcore. Water and food are everywhere and the only real kicker in it is that Stimpacks don't heal crippled limbs.

There are times when I'm not sure if Dredmor is too casual for me or if I'm too casual for Dredmor. I get more successful fucking Nethack and ADOM runs than I do Dredmor usually.

Dredmor is more about long-term survival than anything else. I've had loads of success with a pure crafting build using all the random junk lying around. But really all you need to succeed is fleshcrafting + leywalking for healing and mana regen.

I'm not him, but I would agree with him. Since Dishonored doesn't even have a darkness system for stealth you're entirely based around blinking around LOS cones which is quickly easy and not as fun or tense as actual sneaking.

Balls to the wall combat at least has the potential for death (Whittled down by gradual damage as you're killing 20 dudes at once) and gives you a larger toybox for playing around and killing people. I did no-kill Dishonored too and had way more fun playing it like a combat game after.

That might be part of the issue for me then, I almost universally hate crafting in games in general and even more specifically in roguelikes. The crafting in SotS the Pit is similar to Dredmor and drives me up the goddamn wall since it rewards and encourages metagame knowledge and wiki-reading, so I usually try to avoid crafting in both games as much as humanly possible.

is hardcore considered hard? during my first hardcore play through I didn't even notice a difference in difficulty except a slight change in my playstyle and the things I hoard.

Quick saving, and saving in general just ruined clean hands/ghost in Dishonored.

It's hardly a casual filter when you can practically turn back time by hitting F9 if you fuck up.

It's not very hard, no. It just makes the game a bit more enjoyable. Hardcore/survival in Fallout 4 is actually significantly harder than in FNV, but unfortunately it's in Fallout 4.

I wish i could get a proper understanding of what fucks you up in Hardcore mode or how to approach it, losing in a game can give such a bad time that i just abandon it

easiest way to play hardcore is to just be careful, use drugs, if you're not RPing someone who doesn't use them, and hoard those medicines since stimpak don't heal limbs

It's really not that much different. Ammo weighs a bit more and you have to handle healing a little differently and that's most of it. Eating and drinking is a non-issue even if you don't have the cheat-flask. I played through both gunslinger NCR and melee Legion on hard-hardcore and it was actually way easier as melee. Way way easier.

The first monster that really made me shape up was Agnaktor, still my favorite hunt to this day
