What are some games that focus around owning or building a castle?

What are some games that focus around owning or building a castle?
games I can think of:
Stronghold & Stronghold Crusader (and the rest of them I guess if you really want to)
Mount & Blade Warband
Heroes of Might & Magic series (3 specifically because fuck those towns are gorgeous)
Knights of Honor
Medieval Total War 2
Age of Empires 2

0A.D. Is still rough and it's absolutely more of a town builder than a castle, but it fits the theme and supremely cozy

>It is getting late my liege

I didn't know you cared Senpai, uguu

downloading it, thanks user

>how about a snack sire?
how thoughtful :3

Have fun! If there was ever a game to settle into on a snowy night with a hot drink, it's going to one of the games in this thread

>can build big fuck off castle from scratch
>nobody actually attacks it

What am I not understanding about this game? The only options are for economic sandbox or sieges, what am I missing?

Pharoah and Cleopatra had people invading, I played that first.

what a comfy soundtrack

>combat based games option
The soundtrack is fucking GOAT

honestly the campaign is pretty fantastic though it is a bit slow at the start, try that instead

>our food stocks are dwindling my liege!

Lords of the Realm 1&2

a bit older than I was going for but sometimes old games are the best, will look into them, thanks user!

They were great for their time, but they are pretty old, be warned.

>mfw

Majesty is a bit casualized but still entertaining. Focuses more on raising heroes.

Populous: The Beginning is pretty good and there's a free patched version that works on modern systems.

>can build big fuck off castle from scratch
>nobody actually attacks it

But even in Castle Building Mode you can have enemies attack you.

May sound weird. But The Sims: Medieval is a good castle lord game.

>The granary is empty.

Civ city romes a good play

Doesn't even work on win8 or 10

F1 in HD
its some other in the original I think
>it took me over 10 years to know

That's what you get for upgrading prematurely.

I have to say that Sims: Medieval compatibility was probably at the bottom of my list of worries about Windows 10

Anno 1404 but it's more Renaissance/Age of Discovery

I sure hope they'd get the compatibility issues fixed with an SP upgrade.

Fuck! What if the free upgrade is a ploy to get people to buy the version without compatibility issues?

How come those beggar bandits are tougher than my knights?

Dwarf Fortress

Fort =/= castle

Speaking of, what games let me build roman outposts?

Grand Ages Rome.

Just build above ground like the dirty, inferior, sun-loving human you are and be done with it. Or get one of the overhaul mods that enable playing as despicable tower-building surface creatures.

WE ARE THE MACEMEN

The Sims Medieval.

That looks awesome, will give it a shot.

Why are castles so goddamn cool
>tfw you will never lord over a castle, feast and be merry, and laugh at invaders while dousing them with boiling oil and peppering them with arrows

>there will never be a comfy AAA game with the vibe of Banished, Settlers 2, Populous,...

Why even bother, lads ;-;7

i really enjoyed banished but it lacked endgame content. are any of the mods worth it?>

Knowing that your peasants are starving is the worst kind of feel

Is Stronghold Crusader 2 good? I have been thinking on pirating it.

oh, wait, kat.cr is kill right? Sheeeeeeeit

anno 1404

why am i so attracted to this 2D style of graphics? it's so messy yet simple, so dirty yet so comfy.

The forge awakens.

No, really.

I don't know but I'm with you there. I think it's because these are honest to goodness nostaligic graphics. Far enough into 64x that an environment could be lush and richly detailed but early enough that it's got a classic sort of appeal. Sort of like how Dark Star has an ominous scifi feel to it that modern scifi can't replicate

knights and merchants bitch

>muh liege

>Mount & Blade Warband
You can build stuff in them?
As far as I know you can just own it.
You can build a craft in cities, whether or not you own them.
And you can make poor villages wealthy.

But that's kinda it.

You can upgrade a few things like the prison and shit
There are of course mods for much more customization

I played it on PS1. Was amazing building huge towers on hills and putting the converters in it

>BOONSHAWAH BONSHAWAH!

Then you have Fireball guys behind who prevent any bullshit.

>Using custom AIVs
>Fucking The Rat has positive fear factor, has moat and multiple fucking ballistas in single square tower
Let me guess, this was made by some 'hardcore' guy who thinks that letting AI literally cheat is great?
