Will this be it's own new series? What Characters would you like to see in the sequels?
Sonic the Hedgehog (Mighty the Armadillo) "Tails" Miles Prower Knuckles the Echidna (Ray the Flying Squirrel) Amy Rose the Rascal Espio the Chamelion Bark the Polar Bear (Vector the Crocodile) Honey the Cat Fang the Sniper Weasel Bean the Dynamite Duck
Each has there own special ability(s), with Characters in parenthesis being clones. This is every Pre-Adventure Sonic game character (Except Charmy Bee), so they have a design consistent with Classic Sonic.
>What Characters would you like to see in the sequels? Sonic
Ian James
Well, that's a given silly.
Nolan Cox
>Espio the Chamelion >Bark the Polar Bear (Vector the Crocodile) >Fang the Sniper Weasel >Bean the Dynamite Duck
literally who? lol fuck off with your archie comic oc donut steel.
Luke Jenkins
>archie comic >purposely pretending to be ignorant
Carter Cooper
None of those are Archie characters.
Jaxon Rogers
Besides Amy, Fang is the possibly only likely character on that list.
The other ones will probably get cameos at best.
Lincoln Cruz
>implying the PC version won't get fucktons of mods adding more characters
Logan White
Are you even trying? Because if you are, that was horrible.

I feel like him and Amy would be Harder to give a reasonable move to, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and the entire Chaotix already have their special moves.

Liam Anderson
I want Poison Ivy to team up with Dr. Robotnik for the sequel
Isaiah Foster

Adam Clark
>>Bark the Polar Bear (Vector the Crocodile) What the fuck are you doing?
Joshua Baker
Ray is a Flying Squirrel, just give him a Glide, and Wall Climbing like Knuckles, but can't access secret areas like he can in S3&K. Ray could be faster to compensate. Make Amy control like in Sonic Advance.
Isaiah Howard
Uh, both are Large maybe?
Joshua Adams
So does Amy. Have you not played Advance?
Joshua Kelly
Only Fang.
Mason Bailey
post-adventure garbage
Carter Nguyen
Honey is actually in video games
Brandon Hughes
classic amy has had the hammer since sonic the fighters, so giving classic amy advance's moveset is not that farfetched really.
Ethan Cook
Yeah, the same video game as Bean and Bark, except they aren't hidden characters.
John Cruz
Better list with no weird parenthesis
Classic Series: Sonic Tails Knuckles
CD: Amy
Game Gear: Fang
SegaSonic: Mighty Ray
Chaotix: Espio Vector
Fighters: Bark Bean Honey
Colton Hill
>unique and enjoyable Sonic character gameplay for one of the more important characters in the series shouldn't be included because the game that created it came out in 2001 this may be the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
Michael Williams
Amy has her Advance 1 moveset all ready for her, but how could Fang play? Would he do something with his guns?
He'd be better off as a mini-boss character.
William Cooper
Sonic Advance is actually the last good 2D because it was based on the engine from the Genesis games.
Justin Walker
You have literally no idea what you're talking about, do you?
Isaiah Kelly
>using adventure as a measure for anything The salt from Adventurefags will fuel Sonic forever.
Connor Scott
>Honey
Yes, would love to see what the sprites would look like. Only one female character with Amy would suck, and it's probably better to take from a character already from the classic era, than create a new one, even if her role was minor.
Nolan Ramirez
can someone explain to me what Mania is? is it just a collection or something new
Joshua Garcia
50% Greatest hits zones, 50% new game
Even the old Zones are reworked though.
Brayden Perez
source on 50%, please

Ray could have a controllable glide where he can dive and ascend directionally and do things like air loops based on how fast he's moving.
Hudson Anderson
As long as Sonic has blue arms, I'm good.
Matthew Moore
We have no idea how many levels will be new or old, though. All we know right now is that it's gonna be longer than Generations.
Kayden Bell
I just want to play as Knuckles
Nathan Gray
So something like swimming in Ecco the Dolphin but in the air and with physics?

So far as I've seen, Stealth and Whitehead are mixing gameplay, graphics, and audio from the original trilogy, CD, Spinball, and Chaotix. If they were to include any characters/movesets from pic related and Chaotix in future games, I'd never stop playing.
Nathan Bennett

Camden Ortiz
>not bringing back Amy with her dope Sonic Advance 1 moveset Hugely missed opportunity. She was one of the best things about Sonic Adv 1.
Aaron Ward
Can I get source on the length? I'd be quite surprised if it didn't have more levels than Generations, considering Sonic 2, Sonic 3&K, Sonic Before the Sequel and After the Sequel, Freedom Planet, etc. all do, but I'd still like a source.
Ryder Carter
I've seen some bad bait but this is the worst, didn't even try to be subtle have another (you)
James Reyes
These Posters were in Sonic Generations, Maybe you'll get Mighty and Ray, but Fang, Bark, and Bean all seam to be villains, not heroes.
Blake Wright
>We have no idea how many levels will be new or old You don't know this but you know how long the game will be? Why do so many time travelers post on Sup Forums lately rather than doing cool time travel shit?
Levi James
You know that's actually right on the money to what I had in mind. He would fall faster than Knuckles would if he's doing a horizontal glide to not completely invalidate Knuckles. It might have to be limited because of how powerful it would be in typical Sonic stage design. The speed running would be incredible with it though.
Juan Collins
>in a game 5 years ago
lol who cares?
Landon Torres
There was a tweet posted last thread about it.
Although if it turns out that was fake, my bad.
Josiah Ortiz
>Bark, Bean, Honey And Big the fucking Cat. But seriously, let them be in Sonic Fighters or Megamix, or some new fighting game if Sega ever does that. Honey's real character is the Vipers version. >Fang As an enemy? Sure. I enjoyed his shit in Triple Trouble. Playable? How? His mechs were pretty shitty and his gun isn't even a real gun
Playable characters I wouldn't mind Espio, Vector, Shadow or Blaze, but the original are enough. I don't care much about Amy, but if she is a Sonic clone, whatever. I am already happy how we are getting a 2d classic sonic game after all these decades
Cooper Allen
It's about which character is the most popular, that's all. Otherwise Metal Sonic would never be playable in games.
Connor Perry
If they want to add more characters to expand the mechanics of the game, they have somewhere to take from without taking modern sonic characters or making their own OC characters.
Wyatt Gutierrez
>Shadow or Blaze
Should not ever be in Mania. Maybe in Generations 2, but Mania should be Pre-Adventure Reboot only.
Lincoln Gonzalez
>they have somewhere to take from without taking modern sonic characters
Why would they do that?
Nicholas Reyes
>I don't care much about Amy, but if she is a Sonic clone, whatever.
People are wanting her in it because
A. She's been around longer than Knuckles and has been part of the main cast since Adventure with reasonable popularity
B. She had a really fun gameplay style in Advance 1 that nobody ever used since for some reason
Aiden Fisher
>but Mania should be Pre-Adventure Reboot only.
Fuck no. The character designs for side characters only got good after adventure.
Josiah Turner
When has Metal been playable? As a Sonic reskin locked to trial mode in Sonic Adventure DX that almost no one experienced because you had to get every emblem for it? As a villain character in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle's multiplayer? As a racer? As a playable character in only the rerelease of Sonic the Fighters? That's really not much.
Wyatt Price
Since Mania's coming out on PC, do you think we could get levels from previous games, say, 3K ala Project Unleashed for Generations?
And if that's possible, do you think all these characters can be coded in as well?
Julian Myers
Because it's a game entirely about Classic sonic, and the Dreamcast and after Sonic Characters are designed differently
Caleb Robinson
>not wanting a classic Blaze
Liam Barnes
Well, he was in an Add-on for Sonic 4 Episode 1, if that counts.
Carson Thompson
Don't forget how he got his own special DLC for Sonic 4. Shitty as that game was, it drives the point home.
Besides, he works best as a secret Sonic reskin since he's supposed to be Sonic's equal in every way.
Brody Kelly
The Sonic CD remake made with the same engine that Sonic Mania almost certainly uses is on PC. Do you see mods for that?
Ah, you're totally right. I often forget about things related to Sonic 4, probably willfully.
Jacob Richardson
Not that guy but CD not getting any mods is not much of an indication. It had very little buzz because it is not the same as a new 2D since the Advance series.
Mania is literally the game the community has been asking for for over a decade.
Levi Williams
Sure, but I was just thinking gameplay wise because they could work even on a 2d classic. But like I said, I am already happy with the original trio. At least Tails was in CD remake, now Knuckles... It is been some quite time you pinky-redish bastard
I don't mind her, specially the Rascal. >Adv1 Perhaps people replayed more as Sonic. As far I recall I don't think Amy had a spindash/super peel out thing, just in 2 but unlocking her is bullshit. Just getting all emeralds for one character is a pain, much more all characters Episode metal. And he was in the kart games too, he is popular so he could be a choice.
Eli King
user from Well, no, but Megamix wasn't released in the same way Generations was, while there is every indication that Mania will be. Besides, Megamix can be argued that it qualifies as a modification in itself.
Angel White
I can promise you that a "classic" Shadow alone would cause more hype then ANY of the forgotten recolours
Daniel Bennett
Knuckles is in the Sonic 1 and 2 remakes. Are they ever going to port those fucking things, btw? Sonic Mania happening has restored my hope that those will get ported eventually.
Mason Ross
But Shadow is a recolor, and the only one of those classic characters you could maybe call a recolor is Mighty.
Robert Wood
And Ray. He's only appeared in that Sonic arcade trackball game, and he plays identically to Sonic and Mighty in it.
James Murphy
What about Sonic Mania 3D Blast?
Eli Reyes
Ray and Bean are also pretty cut-and-paste Sonic characters. Fang and Bark and the only well-designed forgotten characters.
Jordan Bell
I'd kinda like for metal sonic to be playable; instead of the spindash, he'd have his charge attack used in sonic CD. Perhaps there could be a way to implement his electric shield?
Samuel Johnson
Jesus christ you're actually an autist
Jordan Morgan
Why are you slaping him, what the fuck.
Camden Moore
Shadow Rouge Blaze The usual stuff.
John Phillips
He is...? Damn. I don't like playing on androids, so i never thought buying despite how good they seem to be. >ports when When Taxman 3's remake is released. Like not soon.
Chase Reyes
It'd probably be insanely easy to do so.
On a similar note, Amy's one problem is that they'd have to make sure she can properly get through the levels with her radically different moveset. But if she could make it through the Genesis trilogy in those hacks, she should be fine.
Jack Parker
>Bark the Polar Bear (Vector the Crocodile) >Honey the Cat >Fang the Sniper Weasel >Bean the Dynamite Duck Just fuck off OP .
Asher Rogers
Amy could probably do some kind of hammer spin in midair, it could work like Sonic's flash shield from the 3rd game. For Metal Sonic's shield, you could probably charge it up by holding down a button and it would be active for like 3 seconds.
Bentley Murphy
This sounds so cool, I never thought I would want Ray to be in a game ever again.
Blake Barnes
>▶ who's the semen demon in the bottom right?
Dylan Allen
???
Samuel Taylor
Amy was loads of fun in Advance 1. There's bits where it's really obvious the stages weren't designed around her, but she's interesting to play as.
Nathan Cox
If 2D sonic games of this quality are going to be a possibility for spin offs, I'd like to see them all but with a caveat. Each game should have 4 playable characters max with a rotating cast with Sonic as the constant. So each new game is Sonic + 3 others and it'd eventually loop back around.
Matthew Sanders
What is there to check for? She rolls into a ball when forced. She has an attack in the air like anyone else. She can jump and bounce off springs higher than anyone else. The only thing you'd have to avoid doing is making a section where it's possible to get stuck if don't have the instant speed from a spindash to go up a slope.
Carson Morgan
Yeah, she's like a hard mode kind of character with that gameplay.
Brayden Cruz
Could She only Damage things with her Hammer? If so you could make Bean and Fang Similar with Fang's Pop Gun and Bean's Dynamites
Ryan Nelson
>Could She only Damage things with her Hammer? Yes. When you jump as Amy, she doesn't curl into a ball and is vulnerable and shit, but you can press B in air to do a brief spin with her Hammer, sort of like the insta shield but with better range. Alternatively, you can press down+B in air to have Amy dive downwards while twirling her hammer.
She also has no spindash and can't roll into a ball except when she runs into things like tubes and shit. What Amy gets instead is a short hop forward that generates a small amount of speed instantly but is rarely worth using, and a very high hammer jump performed by pressing down+B.
I think pressing down while running makes Amy almost instantly stop to crouch as well, which has some use.
Jonathan Hughes
>Mighty Wall clinging and jumping. Slower and heavier than Sonic but easier to control, "stronger" spin-dash, and more spin maneuvers in general. >Ray He'd probably play like a mixture of Tails and Knuckles, something like being able to ascend with his glide but only a certain amount of times. He'd probably be faster and more slippery than Knuckles, but jump much higher. >Espio Tongue maneuvers, such as being able to use it like a rope or grappling hook to reach high places. >Bark Slower than most but capable of plowing through enemies and obstactles that other characters would have difficulty getting through with ease. His lariat could probably help him gain some extra height, too. >Honey A bit slow and heavy at first, the more she takes damage the more her armor would break off (like in Fighting Vipers) allowing her to move faster and jump higher. Her primary ability would probably be flying with those fairy wings or combat maneuvers that can be applied to platforming such as jump kicks and the like. >Fang Sonic with a gun and tail stuff instead of spinning. >Bean Something like Plague Knight, being able to mix and match bomb combinations and throw bombs at the ground to solve puzzles/help with platforming.
Did I do good?

Wtf is sonic mania
Brandon Stewart
New Sonic game with the style and gameplay of the classics made using the same engine and developers that brought us the excellent remakes of Sonic CD, Sonic 1, and Sonic 2.
Most of those ideas are too complicated. The characters have to be able to all play through the same stages, and just altering some stats makes for a boring character inclusion. If the whole appeal of the character is their face rather than actually playing as them, it's a waste of time. There's no point in adding characters who just do what other ones do but worse, like Ray there, who just sounds like a slippery Tails who flies worse. The Honey idea is the worst one. You start out as a sluggish character and have to keep getting hit and recollecting rings until you start to jump and run properly? Why not just beat your head against the first enemy in every stage? Tails already flies. What do you mean by combat maneuvers, exactly? It's a mess.
