FF XIV

Is this game dead? I want to play an MMO but not WoW.

>Queue seal rock
>Elapsed time: 92:34 as of this post

Damn, are there any other games that are not shit?

Not really.

The MMO genre is fucked because people want everything immediately and don't want to work or communicate for it.

t. Someone who doesn't want to communicate

It has players. Its just dead inside.

Play it because you like story-heavy JRPGs, not because you like MMOs.

>spend 200 hours getting to heavensward
>find out i've got another 50 to go before I can start flying
>flying is restricted to heavensward zones

Aaaaaand unsubbed. The time investment this game requires is fucking mind boggling. Not even vanilla WoW required this much dedication.

>xiv pvp
Yikes.
Even though I got Keeper of Knowledge in the first two weeks.

I really, really want the field commander coat.

I was looking through the achievement rewards and my dick sprung up through the desk.

What? You can start flying from like level 54, which is like 20 hours into HW.

I played probably thousands of hours of WoW back in the day, and have been playing The Division recently as my MMO. Pretty alright game, tbhfam. Lots of world content, large community, decent graphics

>Grind the new dungeon 8 times to get the padjali weapon
>Queue for weeping city to show it off
>15/24 people have one

Fuck this game

>Easy as fuck content you can mindlessly farm for a near BIS weapon
>Surprised when everyone who doesn't do savage rushed for it.

>want to play the game
>the few friends I have won't play it
>don't like raids

I guess I should just drop MMOs and multiplayer only games.

I'm not surprised. Just disappointed.

Oh, I forgot.

>not even into Final Fantasy

>doesn't like participating in the only accessible content that requires you to even feign paying attention to what's happening

It's effectively the new Diadem, good gear for relatively mindless work. Difference being it's a little more fun.

Speaking of pvp, how do melee dps fare?

Pretty much unrelenting shit. You want melee, go WAR.

Gear drops are killing the game. There is already a pretty decent crafting system, but it's rendered almost pointless because of gear drops. Material only drops would be better overall I think.

...

>Highest iLevel weapon is 190
>Only relevant crafted gear is accessories

Fuck this gay Earth

The highest end crafted stuff right now is gear for other crafters. Essentially it's a big pyramid scheme right now.

>wanting the midget jews to make even more money
>encouraging the other 50% of the playerbase to also engage in RMT

What do you mean 'right now'? That's how it's always been. People rushing to gear up retards who buy crafting/gathering gear upgrades so they can continue on the fucking treadmill.

And then once every 3-4 patches you might get some barely relevant gear for battle classes, but never weapons because fuck BSM.

>tfw a fucking level 25 newbie can have an iLevel 235 weapon waiting for them once they turn 60 now

How does that even work for abilities

The dungeon gives you all the skills you'd get. If you don't have a soulstone equipped you won't get the skills though (like... assize for WHM)

>in the vault for leveling roulette
>like my 3rd time in total there
>about to heal the war since he's at 1/4 hp
>he's actually in dps stance and gets a huge spike of damage before I can do anything
>get called a bad healer by a drg who's doing less dps than me on trash mobs

Eh those 220 accessories were pretty sweet because muh melds.

How nice for the 2 classes that make those accessories.

if you wanna do crafting you gotta have all crafters at 60 anyway

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I put a 1000 hours into this and regret it. Don't make the same mistake OP.

Why do you regret it?

I could have spent that 1000 hours playing a dozen or two good games.

can someone explain why people wanted flying mounts

Screenshot your /playtime or it didn't happen.

Why the fuck did you play a game for 1k hours if you didn't enjoy it?

>Seal Rock as an accurate indicator of FFXIV's health

Absolutely no one plays FFXIV for the PVP. Most people do a new frontline once when it comes out, and then never touch it again.

It's not dead, but you have two choices

>Be on dead server for free
>Be on high pop server but have to pay to transfer to it

Literally every server but 3 are dead as fuck, and because there are only 3 full servers, the only way to play on them is to transfer on to them for 20 bucks.

>Absolutely NO ONE

If you actually did active PvP, you'd know it attracts a certain subset of players that attention whore on Twitch and stroke their egos about being better at PvP than other players/servers.

That's usually what makes PvP annoying as hell to play. Other than the fact that nobody knows teamwork and strategy.

>On Tonberry
>supposedly "full server"
>it's currently the weekend
>not even 5 parties in PF finder

People have griinded out their shit from PotD and gone back into hibernation until reset/3.4
Not to mention the mass exodus of WoWfugees back to Legion.

Who /comfy/ here

It is WoW 3.0, but has a FF coating with less content and more linear design.

> loldragoon

The only reply you ever need in such a situation.

>Heavensward
>good story ending with awesome boss fight
>completely ruined crafting
>completely ruined gathering
>dungeons are still linear boring shit no different to the very first dungeon in the game
>relic is just a dumb grind for a billion esoterics
>diadem kek
>potd kek
>adds flying mounts but you can't fly in a zone till you've practically completed it

I put roughly 3000 hours into it and would advise against playing it as well.

They changed the flight stuff.

That's like a year or two worth of farming at this rate...if you win every match that is.

Yeah, game is dead. They killed it by trying to make the grind take months, long enough for them to push out the next patch, instead of making actually interesting content and letting subs lapse every now and then.

First dungeon has optional rooms and a 'puzzle'.
New dungeons are just move from platform to platform while killing trash.
>loading screens inside the dungeon

>>good story ending with awesome boss fight
if ff14 was never an MMO and was a singleplayer game with a party it would be one of the best in the series and considered a huge return to form after 13 happened

But I still like messing around with people

>loading screens inside the dungeon
is this for real? the game has really gone down the shitter

Mate, you load into and out of an area in the middle of the Ozma boss fight

This has been a thing since 2.0 tho

>mass exodus of WoWfugees back to Legion

>MFW 90% of my company hasn't been online since the new WoW patch

And once Legion hits it's going to be even worse.

So when will we get another MMO Final Fantasy? They might as well abandon XIV now that they've fucked it up so much.

WAR's tank stance doesn't reduce their damage taken, it just increases their total health.

Good, keeps the WoWfugees away from this game.

Why the fuck do people care about flying so much? All it does is let you ignore 99% of the level design.

Does anyone know if there is still a raid scene on Lamia?

They need to keep people subbed to pay for the abhorrent costs of making and marketing FFXV.

FFXV has cost them so much fucking money.

which means that 1/4 health without defiance is a lot lower than 1/4 health with it on

Not anytime soon. Yes, its shit, but its still one of the best MMO right now.

Final Fantasy XIV seems to want you to ignore the level design, so what's the problem?

>tfw level boost potion in 4.0
>tfw 'skip all story' mode

>he doesn't want to teleport in, point in the general direction of the marker and alt+tab out
Dude it's like you want to play games or something nerd

>Tank dies
>Makes excuses

Shit healer. You do realize their tank stance doesn't actually mitigate any damage, right?

>but its still one of the best MMO right now.

No it's not.

>Wrath stacks slightly increase Parry rate
>doesn't reduce damage taken

It's nitpicky, but it's still a thing.

>skip all story mode
Sign me up. Main story quest should be optional

Warrior is a fun class.

But overall, shit game and I'm an idiot for playing it this long.

When should I start leveling my alt classes? Kinda getting bored of playing tank. I'm almost level 30 by the way.

I dont like it. You dont like it. But its just like that.

Actually it means that the person is a poor judge of how quickly someone is taking damage and when to heal regardless.

But it's clearly not the best MMO on the market. That's not even like an opinion, it's just not.

What is?

i feel you

fucking fc or someone in it gifted me two months after i asked them not to

playing out of a sense of duty more than anything and it is killing me

i dont even run anything with them im just fucking farming things while my soul withers away

Who said its the best? Clearly I didnt.

I'm pretty sure that person said "One of the best", not "the best".

>Really enjoy a lot of stuff about the game like the fishing
>Enjoy the houses and the environmental effects
>Enjoy the areas
>Hate the combat and questing

Oh well, I tried, I gave it two shots, even played monk and was still bored to tears with the combat.

This game's story is absolute anime garbage. Even 1.0's storytelling was better.

>can't stomach the art-design in any other decent MMO except EVE
I'm glad I don't juggle WoW and this game.

>This game's story is absolute anime garbage.
Hence the 'Play it because you like story-heavy JRPGs'. Thats just what they are. There are people that cant even read short posts properly, I swear.

Monk is boring as fuck though. Minimal variation in its rotation and its special mechanic is just annoying.

Does it feel really shitty to invest like literally thousands of hours in to a game that's dying?

I only ask because I wouldn't know. I'd feel like I wasted a lot of time.

ARR thread? Good
What's the easiest healer to play with gamepad?
How is Scholar? Should I manually control fairy?

Everyone told me it's the fast class, the game just felt too slow in its combat. Which is okay, but I can't stand slow games and having a pause between every attack.

But now I don't think I can even stand tab targetting games, which limits my options a bit for MMOs.

>Try and get some RP going
>Check out a bunch of wallflowers, figure I'll give them something to do
>Offer to pay them to test out some potions I made so I can record the results
>5 people don't even respond
>3 say 'no thanks'
>2 just walk off to go wallflower in a different spot

So this is the roleplay server, huh?

But didn't you hear how it's the most thriving MMO currently on the market?
(thriving meaning they hand it out almost for free almost every 2 months while the endgame community has been on it's last leg for over a year)

... no? Who plays a game they don't enjoy? if it dies, it dies. Not like it being 'alive' negates the fun you had for a thousand hours.

Where were you when a Sup Forums FC hit top 10 execution for midas on FFLogs?

What's wallflower?

I RP as a goofy scientist, majority of people I RP with get butthurt that I'm too silly/comedic

Majority of rp fags in this game are edgelords

Lol was there a worse /vg/ guild than Golden Ratio? Every day jumping in the guild voice chat made me feel so good about my life compared to the people actually participating in it.

People who hang around doing nothing, waiting for someone to talk to them.

its hard to account for a damage spike from nothing because someone ate an orb

Why?
