No, Fallout 3 fucking sucked, why would I get anything else by you?

Hey, I get you man.
We listen to the community.
So that's why all of our games are better than the last.

You - the community.
Thank you for amazing games.

The remaster looks unbelievable. Just look at remade High Hrothgar.

When Bethesda said they were doing a remaster of Skyrim, I thought it was just minor HD enhancements.

No, they're actually remaking this gem from scratch. The game looks entirely different, and it's going to be amazing to replay it.

Bethesda knows what they're doing. Their marketing tactics are stellar.

Instead of announcing Elder Scrolls VI right away, they decided to reflect back on what had already worked for them in the past.

And I am definitely going to buy the Skyrim remaster. I mean, if you love epic role playing games like this, why wouldn't you?

The Skyrim remaster is going to feel like a fresh new game.

I'll go as far as to say that the Skyrim Special Edition has the potential to become one of the very best games of this gen. Skyrim gains new fans every day, and it's a timeless experience

Yes sir! Bethesda Softworks™ is my favourite game development and software publishing team.

Instead of calling this out for the lazy shitpost that it is, try replacing Skyrim with and see if it has the same effect

FF7 works perfectly

Elder Scrolls VI is already out, retard.

Serious question here

I've never played any The Elder Scrolls game. I've been watching a streamer play Oblivion and it looks really fun, bugs and all.

Is Skyrim as good as Oblivion? Or did they cut things from the engine?

ESO doesn't count, though it IS pretty good now.

Nah, F4 was shit, too much choice, free roaming and useless collectables, fallout would be better if it was more like half life 2's level design.

Skyrim cut quite a bit from Oblivion, yes. You may call it an action game with RPG elements that are more prevalent than on most of its kind, but still at its heart an action game. Oblivion and Morrowind are actual RPGs, with a far greater emphasis on proper stat allocation and controlling your leveling so you don't waste bonuses, but also the ability to quite cleanly cleave the game in half by abusing alchemy and enchanting to make yourself a living demigod.

What about other aspects? I like how in Oblivion everyone has something to say, like the rumors and such. Also the variety of the quests, like that one quest where a guy thinks the entire town is conspiring against him and you have to follow people around.

Do you think I might be better off just playing Morrowind?

Best main quest: Morrowind
Best overall quests, such as Daedric or Guild quests: Oblivion
Expansions are hard to place,I liked Shivering Isles the best I think

Haven't I seen you somewhere before?

Skyrim is what you would basically consider a very generalized approach to the whole system that the Elder Scrolls was going for with a sort of tacked on Imperial/Nord conflict that has no fucking consequence whatsoever and is only there as sort of a lazily done political intrigue.

That isn't to say that it doesn't do some good with its bad (the leveling system revamp was at least a step in the right direction, despite the fact that it had some hilariously bad implementation with the perk system in general), but ultimately, it's cookie cutter sort of shit that's theatrical and honestly corny as fuck. There's a whole lot of emphasis on decisions mattering, but if you keep a level head, then there's bound to be some quests that will drag your experience down and make you really look at the game under a more critical light, which is where the game really starts to decline faster than a retarded clown in a comically small car on an incline.

If you really want to get into the Elder Scrolls games, it's better off to get acquainted with the "middle ground" of the series before delving into the extremities of shit that the other games are. Morrowind is typically where people start, and even though there are idiots that bitch about the combat, it's really not that hard on players as it makes it out to be (buff skills below 25 up so you can hit reliably to level them up, pace back and forth and utilize movement keys for specific attacks, if you miss, tough shit, buff up, use that as power, etc.)

After Morrowind, go over to Oblivion. Lot less variety in magic and such, as well as being disappointingly eastern-european and not really much else in terms of landscape, but it's still pretty solid. From there, go on to either Daggerfall, or if you really wanna see what the scruff is about, go over to Skyrim and see if you enjoy the bell and whistles as much as every fan infatuated with the fucking game.

Yes, Oblivion has a rather more diverse quest structure than Skyrim has. A commonly repeated criticism of Skyrim is that most quests in it boil down to "go to this dungeon and murder these people", while Oblivion quests were more diverse, like one where you're locked in a mansion with a bunch of people that you have to kill stealthily, and they all start freaking out and mistrusting one another like in a horror mystery plot.

And gameplay-wise, Skyrim cut down not only equipment, but also completely removed custom spellcrafting from the game as well as dumbed down magic significantly.

Honestly for a first time pick I'd recommend Oblivion. Morrowind can be very complex to get into [I'm trying to play it for the first time currently, in fact].

>murderhouse quest
So many ways to do that quest. Convince them to kill, or to be afraid and hide, etc etc.

Yeah, Sonic Mania looks pretty great.

That's really the one part of Oblivion that I had the most fun in. It seems as though they really had a great amount of joy making all the quests.

That's sort of the best compromise a developer can make with something they make, as far as I can say. Whenever they make something with as much fun as you'll have playing it. Really just makes me feel happy inside whenever you really get down to a part of a game that just shows the proof of their work and how happy they are for it.

Hey, whats that in your hand?

Do we really need to shit on Bethy? They make soem decent games, let's not pretend otherwise. They're not old EA or Ubisoft. We can give the SOME credit, right? I ain't even shilling. Their games are legitimitely fun to play, if just a little buggy.

Bethesda makes nice games, but in the process it involves any number of things between co-opting established franchises and making them unrecognizable, blatantly unfinished development cycles, watering down gameplay variety, abandoning established features instead of building upon them, and an increasing tendency to rely more and more on randomization in lieu of actual content generation.

Basically they're growing lazier and more and more malevolent with their business decisions.

that you will kill yourself with a grenade?
sure, why not.

Of course, user. It's never their fault whatsoever on what people think to be a low standard of them with very valid proof at their side for such claims.

It's also okay for them to utilize various methods of implementation to push the load of revitalizing a fully active game with stuff that's already been implemented inside of it in better ways than they could possibly ever strive to go for.

I'll give them credit for Morrowind and even fucking Oblivion, but if you expect me to even like the atrocity that was Skyrim as well as fucking let them go on to shit out Fallout 4 after they had every excuse to take what was well-designed from Fallout New Vegas and think long and hard about how to apply what they could from learning such into the game they were making, then you can just fuck off, man. They've gotten lazy beyond measure, and that's something that is absolutely fucking abhorrent, especially for a game developer that's releasing "ground-breaking RPG's"

I defended them until Fallout 4, which is just an abomination.

BUY MY FUCKING DELEGATES DLC DAHNALD

>Mfw I never played Skyrim because Oblivion sucked that much ass
>Actually thinking of buying the remaster

Well at least you'll have one sale, Todd.

Yes we do. They are lazy, shady, anticonsumer and talentless hacks.

I couldn't agree with you more, fine man! And I feel compelled to say you are very handsome.

Can someone tell me what happened to Bethesda's writing and design team?
Morrowind was such a cool game, especially its main quest which was 10/10 with cool ass villain and a nice twist.

Why did they go full retard on Oblivion and Skyrim? Is there any hope at all for a TES VI or should I just give up now?

lost Kirkbride and, more importantly, lost Rolston.

Nothing happened. Better writers simply showed their work in other games, while Bethesda's writing team is stuck in the past and their stories of good vs evil in an era of videogames where RPGs are all about choice & consequence and gray-areas of morality.

And no you shouldn't have any hope for tes6. Ever since they started designing mainly for consoles TES has gone down the drain.

...

they stopped giving a fuck
they don't even know their own world
the writers openly admitted that they check community-wikis constantly to check if something they're doing breaks the lore

Why bother, since they keep retconning more and more things into the game anyway?

Where are my ice Vampires, Bethesda?

Global warming

kek
Todd would actually use this excuse though.

Impressive

Your games still aren't bright, colorful, or cartoonish, so no. Also I tried Fallout 3 and it was a literal unplayable piece of shit due to all the bugs and shit. Never giving you money again.

am I the only one that thinks the remaster actually looks worse than vanilla?
I mean all that yellow in a snowy landscape? What's this? Deus Ex Human Revolution?
Also I bet it'll perform like ass too

Fallout 4 is great. Compared to the others it's easily the best one.

This thread is great! So many handsome people who are also fans of the great company Bethesda Softworks™

kawaiipiranha?

You're all thankless rats, you know that? Bethesda has been entertaining you for years, asking for nothing else but mere cents per hour of game play. The original Mario Brothers would retail at 60 dollars in the freaking 80s and here we are, years later, still paying the same amount for essentially 100 as much content, and should you wish, that content can be expanded upon for a small fee. You should all feel ashamed of yourselves.

They've gotten lazy, though really I can't blame them. When you've reached a huge audience of casual people who aren't really into roleplaying games, all of the sudden bringing back complexity could alienate this new source of revenue. Sucks for us, but pleases the guys upstairs.

>not posting a picture of Todd in disguise
I don't think you understand how Toddposting works

I am actually gonna play your game when the remaster update comes out for no charge.

Seriously Todd, those are smoke grenades.

You haven't killed a single person with them. Stop fucking throwing them at me.

Can't buy fine DLC if you're dead

I also can't buy DLC if I can't fucking see anything.

Stop throwing smoke grenades at me.

Yes, fucking Gragnor man. I had no idea you could do so much in that game until I watched him play it. He's my favorite streamer by far, even if he keeps spewing memes every 5 seconds.

I love it when he's in character, Mike's great at voices. He's my favorite streamer as well, the only one I watch really. Did you find him from his animations or from twitch?

Todd Howard was a young lad
No one knows how old
'till the gamers took his life
for the things he told
Gaming is full of wickedness
So Howard says
"If you believe in Bethesda"
"gaming will be saved"
"Entitlement can breed corruption"
"So wash it from your life"
"Dont believe in the slash vee slash"
"Let your soul decide"
So the Sup Forums grew angry
He saw his end in sight
Young Howard must be stopped
Little Todd must die

Todd Howard! hear his distant pleas!
Todd Howards died for his belief!

So if you're breeding entitlement
Keep this in mind
Howard's soul is watching you
Through the veils of time
Well, Sup Forums always stays the same
They never seem to learn
'till they have lost their faith
and their souls have burned.

Skyrim represents everything wrong with modern RPGs:
>no choices in how to approach situations
>speech is completely useless outside of trading
>favours randomly generated quests instead of hand-designed quests
>plot is not interesting at all
>main villain is a huge retard
>watered down character creation that barely resembles an RPG
>random loot
it's basically Elder Scrolls: Diablo edition
Can still be quite fun with mods that change loot system, armor and weapon variety, character creation overhauls, and completely overhaul the perk system, though.

are any of skyrim's DLCs worth anything?

Alas, poor Howard. I hardly knew him.

Yeah, I was subscribed to him on youtube because of his animations then when Worlds became a huge thing around here I watched his Worlds highlights video and been following ever since. I'm usually not around for the actual streams on twitch but I keep a close eye on his youtube channel. He's a great voice actor alright, in fact, every time I'm watching him and my gf is around she thinks his making a funny voice on purpose but it's actually his real voice. I can't convince her otherwise.

Best dungeons: skyrim
Yes lots of samey draugir shit but every cave in oblivion is literally the same crappy textures, all the ruins look identical. And the plains of oblivion? Pffftt. My favourite new feature in skyrim was how none of the caves had doors, made the world seem more real like I was actually exploring. A lot more variety in internal and external environments too. Almost all caves in skyrim have waterfalls and light streaming in rather than looking like dark muddy Viet Cong tunnels like oblivion. The only bad dungeons were the Dwemer fortresses

Yeah I was a sub of his animation channel too. Just watched the Worlds highlights and it was great, I wish he would do more stream highlights videos. I only watch around a third of his streams live and I don't like watching the full streams on youtube. It's nice he uploads them at all though.

>Skyrim and Oblivion have the exact same scores on metacritic
who's wrong here?
Sup Forums or TES community?
