Only a few areas are scary. Like upper cathedral ward or research hall.

I'd say it's more depressing and eerie than downright scary.

>upper cathedral ward

Fuck that level.

help with Ludwig pls

I would, but it's been so long since I've played, I'd get destroyed.
Gave up my lvl 4 DLC playthrough on Ludwig, cunt.

You just gotta learn to get his first phase down, no other way about it. Then for his second phase you need to DPS the fuck out of him as quick as possible so he doesn't fuck you. This is also useful because he has two thresholds on which you're guaranteed to stagger him, meaning you get two free viscerals which is your opportunity to RIP AND TEAR.

just use pellets m80

I'd have to git gud all over again to even attempt him. Also got stuck on chalice ebreitas and whatever was before Loran darkbeast.

Besides, I hear Maria and Orphan are near impossible at BL4.

Yeah, it's more tragic than scary once you understand the story.

>I'd say it's more depressing
yep

i tried to beat him so many times I can consistently get to phase 2 without getting damage
the thing is I instantly die when he gets the greatsword
can't even learn dodge because I die instantly

>Besides, I hear Maria and Orphan are near impossible at BL4.
Nah, I've done both twice at NG+6 difficulty and its just about waiting for the few openings that there are

NG+6 BL4 Maria and Orphan???

They don't stack, do they?

What, multiple pellets? No, they don't stack
Yeah
once at NG+6 and then NG+7
The difficulty doesnt change between +6 and +7 so thats why its "twice at NG+6 difficulty"

That's kinda the thing with Dark Souls and Bloodborne.
At first, everything is intimidating and foreign, you have no idea what's lurking around the corner.
After a while of learning the lore, and seeing every boss, you begin to feel sorry, not just for the NPC's you interact with, but also the enemies in general. They're all stuck in what could be only described as a land where "kill or be killed" is the norm, and everything is out to kill you. In essence, they're stuck in a metaphorical Hell.

Really sad, when you stop to think about it.

He never leveled up, ever. He played the game 6 times unlevelled to prove he can be the god, or great one, of Bloodborne. He is truly master of the game.

You're a real masochist user.

I wouldn't call myself that good.
It really isn't an insurmountable task and my boss kills were extremely sloppy as well.
If interested, I can link my NG+6 and +7 Ludwig kills.

I cheesed Orphan on NG+6 so I felt the need to kill him again. To do that, I of course had to get to him first and that required all the other bosses up to him.

I had spent around 18+ hours on NG+6 Ludwig and thus became ridiculously good at it, and wound up killing NG+7 Ludwig first try. It was honestly the most surprised I've ever been at my own abilities regarding video games, I totally expected to be stuck at him for hours again.

You're post just described life.

Do it faggot, I want to hear your cute voice

Sorry bruv, I don't have a voice over

heh

I'm planning to restart the game again just for the hell of it. Been thinking of other builds but not sure which one to select. My first one was a strength focused build.

Arcane

Isn't Arcane pretty much easy mode?

Maybe late game, but majority of the game it's more difficult.
Same with BLT, late game it's great, but early game it's shit.

It's pretty much boring mode. You have to spend a lot more time in chalices than any other build. Or settle for sub-par gems and do barely any damage. Do Str/Arc so you can use MLGS and Wheel effectively.

>stuck in a metaphorical Hell
Or literal hell, in the case of the Hunter's Nightmare. It's lifted directly from Chinese mythology. Repeating your life's sins, a river of blood, a twisted counterpart to a real city, a horse-faced guardian, it's all there.

When Santa Claus abducted me I got genuinely scared. Fuck Yahar Gul, jesus. Everything could kill me in 1-2 hits (level 27 or so), which made me reluctant to attack anything.

At that point I was skulking around, trying to not draw attention.

>horse faced guardian
Where's ox head then?

this is a Japanese soothing hymn!

youtube.com/watch?v=ZaUq8QiIb-U

only the Hunters in the Hunter's Nightmare are all blood-drunk. They take intense pleasure from killing and soaking themselves in Blood, they crave it like drug addicts. It's like a twisted version of Valhalla from their mindbroken perspectives.

It's like giving a meth addict a lifetime, infinite supply of meth, and a safe, consequence-free environment to shoot up however much they want without worrying about jail or ODs or anything

*pig screeching*

I didn't get that vibe.

have you listened to the Hunter's dialogue
>MORE BLOOD
>BLOOD NOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
the Hunter's Nightmare is a literal perfect environment to satisfy that craving -- infinite beasts, infinite time, no consequences to slaughtering them.

Just put yourself in a Blood-Drunk Hunter's shoes for a moment
>love RIPPING AND TEARING
>love the sweet blood, oh how it sings to me
>crave being soaked in it
>mindlessly attacks anything near like a rabid dog
all of these needs the Hunters' Nightmare satisfies to literal perfection. Sure, there's probably self-loathing, like any addict, but at the same time, the Hunter's Nightmare is engineered to be a perfect playground for a blood-addled Hunter

befriending djura should have made him summonable

Demon's Souls still has the best swamp area.
youtube.com/watch?v=rb1l1gJF-pY

You mean shittiest? 5-2 is fucking hell, you can't even roll in the swamp.

cuz ur a young child faggot op

befriending Djura should not have been so obtuse. I swear I have no idea how anyone found that out without a guide

lack of background music desu

it being "too quite" keeps you on edge

What other games attempt to do the spooky Victorian thing? Off the top of my head, I can really only think of

>Castlevania sometimes
>Bloodborne
>That sorta Bloodborne-y game that the Remember Me and Life Is Stranger devs are doing
>A bunch of shit Dracula tie-in games

>that gif

COME TO ME

I could see it happening because he's pretty tough when you first encounter him. I died on my first playthrough to him like twice and them I just left him there and came back after beating Paarl thinking I'd now be strong enough to kill him. When I got there he didn't attack me.

I thought that if you ever attacked Djura once he would be permanently aggroed

First phase is bullshit, don't know what to tell you other than try to hit his mouth.

Second phase is much easier, stay at his dick and keep hitting while dodging left and right so you don't lose your position. Obviously run when he charges up the big attacks of course

Nah, befriending him only requires that you not have aggroed him at all in that "life".

Dishonored

>You're

No kidding.

I hate the way they put the chromatic aberration and fogginess so high in that area. Its definitely intentional, they did it on purpose so that it strains your eyes and melts your fucking brain.

They did a similar effect in that room after the logarius fight.

if you kill his assistant he's permanently aggroed

>can breeze through his sanic first phase
>dying to the slow-ass greatsword

how the fuck?

I've never not killed the hunter near him and i've befriended him on multiple characters. All you need to do is go from the paarl lamp to his ladder.

I've done that literal thing, never touching a single beast or anything, just a pure pacifist speedrun straight from Paarl's lamp to Djura, and he still aggroed. The only conceivable thing that I can think happened was that he was asshurt that I killed his friend before trying to befriend him

you can kill the beasts between the paarl lamp and djura, you just can't kill any in front of him when coming from that path

not sure why he'd be hostile
