Why is this game so objectively worse than Starbound? You only have a single planet instead of billions of different ones, how can you even compete?

how do people stand to look at this let alone play it

Commieblocks are an effective housing strategy that has the least downsides and has the most effective use of resources, prove me wrong

>cold and efficient Commieblocks are cold and efficient

>no dolphin porn stash

Step up your autism

>new release has a lot of players
What a surprise.
Now let's see if it can maintain those numbers.

>terraria released 5 years ago
>starbound released 2 days ago

2 mill is really solid for that pos tho

>Starbound in beta since 5 years ago with an active playerbase
>Starbound """""released""""" 2 days ago

are you trying to argue over something objective

Starbound has been available for purchase for a long time, retard.
"Release" no longer means anything more than an update devs decide to tack a milestone onto to make them feel like they're making progress and to make people buy the game while its STILL unfinished.
Look at fucking minecraft.

Terraria release date: May 16, 2011
Starbound release date: Jul 22, 2016

oh yeah mr krabs

So to get inside your base you have to climb a rope into the dolphin's anus?

I'm sorry, sir. It appears that, while you have a recognition of the english language, you cannot hope to piece together the meaning of english words in logical sequence. Would you just like us to pull the plug?

This is now a terraria build thread, post your favorite builds.

this is going to be the whole tf2 vs overwatch thing again isn't it

coming from the guy without the cognitive ability to understand what an objective fact is

Are you the kind of faggot that argues no one should ever buy a game that hasn't been released?

tf2 is objectively better than overwatch, everyones just sick of tf2

Everyone list your favorite boss and event
>Moonlord
>Frost Moon

Yes.

Would play both Terraria and Starbound if only it wasn't a sidescrolling game. Can't stand them for some reason.

Except Jets and Guns. Jesus fuck that game is awesome.

>someone saved my house picture and made a thread with it
wow holy shit

Started the game a couple weeks ago, got to hardmode recently

r8 my commieblock-in-progress

>select all images with an apartment building

...

Please recommend me a mod or something to make crafting UI better.

muh dick

>wooden cage for the Guide

Neat, but don't NPCs need to be able to get out of the house in order for it to be considered a house?

No.

...

Would have been better if it was going down, instead of being a tower.

...

Post your coat of arms.

fucking lol

>terraria started with just 3 bosses, and no events.
>hell gear was the endgear

>start playing Terraria
>start digging down
>every 10 minutes while digging through dirt I find a small room with 3 urns
How do I find interesting shit?

Server when?

When you post one.

What's with the giant glans at the top?

Anyway, if you ever start caring about creating comfy-looking commieblocks for your NPCs, try adding a central stairwell and more apartments on the other side so you don't have to cut through their apartments to get to the next one. NPCs should also not have any furniture that isn't thematically appropriate for them; keep your processing equipment in a separate room in the basement or something. Maybe add a hellevator straight down from the basement as well for convenience sake.

how can terraria even compete?

This confused me so badly until I figured out what you did.

Nice.

by having actual content, unique biomes, and decent combat

>decent combat

Proper fist weapon when?

>post webm of a stabbing weapon stabbing.

Stop linking to a shitty bait.

>the weapon that you start the game with sucks dick and you're supposed to either find something better or build a shelter before sundown
It's almost like Terraria was made by a developer that actually knows something about game design.

Are you that same faggot who posts the same shitty level 1 Morrowind characters with zero fatigue and no skill in blunt weapons trying to bash a mudcrab with a heavy ass warhammer webms?

Pretty sure that's a vajay-jay.

What a cool fucking beard, you legend.

The UI is fine. The little hammer opens up all the crafting options into its whole.

All of WarWar's stuff is pretty great. Rulick is good too.

The top level has chests, so that's an option.

Fishing.

Finding a cave and following it. This isn't Minecraft where there are just little holes everywhere and maybe a cave system. There are cave systems and maybe some little nooks.

Thinking about starting a new world and character soon.

I would play more if Sup Forums literally ever responded to server threads.

Also, I'm getting so bored of early game. There should exist a mod that unlocks teleportation items early.

Makes no sense why houses can't just phase a la 3D so that a single house can be multiple.

Maybe just a 3x5 mod, then.

You'll notice that there is a door in the cage.

This is incorrect.

Fucking neat. I love this improvised aesthetic.

To be fair, Terraria combat isn't the crux of 2D gaming.

The preview seems like a gear mod.

>just started a large expert mode world
>and a fresh mediumcore character
>no external assistance whatsoever, singleplayer only

I am a masochist

What mods have the best outfit aesthetics?

Yeah I wish I was a skilled builder. Instead I can only appreciate the talents of others.

Does mediumcore drop gear?

I always find it funny how whenever someone is trying to prove a point in these threads they post Terraria fanart, because the actual pixel art of the game is mediocre as fuck.

Yep

is mediocre? Git gud.

>mountain base

enjoy wraiths fucking everything up come hardmode

I'm 95% sure that's modded.

Why doesn't Sup Forumsg/ make a mod?

It's just actuators putting stuff in the background and paint.

It's not.

Except I've played Terraria since the last update and I have never seen a lot of those building materials and decorations before.

Billions of the same world with different colored grass.

Then you're a pretty shit builder? It's all stuff available in 1.3.

>dig in Starbound
>find a village comprised of microscopic houses and lights
>find an abandoned alter with a strange frog peddler
>find abandoned ruins

>dig in Terraria
>find nothing but ore
>find a house with a chest in it
>find another house with a chest in it
>find pots

Why is exploring underground in Starbound much more interesting?

Because you like dicks inside your anus

To be fair while Terraria has better underground exploration and almost everything else, Starbound has superior planet surfaces.
Large NPC towns that give quests, fortresses, prison colonies, research labs with various animals kept as lab rats, pirate ships landed on the surface and so on.

Best thing i've made
;_;

Honestly I think the combat is a bit underappreciated. It's very simple, which makes it easy for new players to get acquainted and enables it to scale well to larger quantities. The basic AI is compensated for by enemies having variety in their behaviors. Starbound falls flat on its face in this regard, because the enemies are all randomly-generated rather than being properly designed with group interactions in mind. Even in Terraria's earlygame, you have three enemies that work very effectively together at night. Basic zombies are cannon fodder/meat shields that just walk up to you and serve to block you from maneuvering. The zombies that swing their arm at you operate a little differently, with a different tendency to jump and a more dangerous attack. Just fighting a few of these two kinds of zombies can be tense without a good weapon. Then throw in the demon eyes that fly overhead and are tougher to predict, and night will slaughter an unprepared player.

>be playing terraria for the first time way back when
>build base on an island in the sky because badass
>wyverns rape my face after wall of flesh

I like it

What do you want to see in Terraria 2?

Despite the fact we're getting Otherworld first.

This. Starbound has the best combat I've seen in a 2D sandbox game.

The items and accessories in Terraria also make combat and exploration what they are
I'll admit Terraria is all about the late game because of stuff like this but I still like the progression, even though a single player run can be a real grind if have shit luck

>spear acts like a spear

Shocking! Of course, you won't post webms of any of the other weapons.

if i do the same thing to you with a really sharp spear like that, im pretty sure you will get cut and hurt.

The problem is I find myself being ranged always because it's the most interactive. Melee's problem in games is always proximity and mobility, which this game doesn't have a lot of.. especially not vs. expert bosses; and magi is awful until the bee gun, demon scythe, and space gun (plus not fast).

The description of zombies is valid though, so maybe I'm just bored of low consequences for respawn.

Items not being limited to what type of map it is.

Items not being limited to stuff like pyramids *maybe* even existing.

Dyes not being so rare.

Getting around not being so fucking 2D. Teleporters are amazing, and early server play without them is absolute shit. Nobody's together because if they are, they might not get any loot from chests.

I'd post all the sets but every time I try to screencap them all the filesize/image size ends up being xbone-levels of hueg so I'll just post my favorite set.

Post minishark with silver bullets you bitch.

>Pony reference

Almost always treated the same way but the "If Valve" side happens it's because so many TF2 players are horsefuckers.

>Takes away your legal rights

Valve DRM is unintrusive and easily cracked

>CSGO Graphics

The game is 15 dollars and not high budget.

>Makes a casual game

Skyrim/Crysis 2/Fallout 4 are massively dumbing down games while portal is its own IP

Nice try Blizzcuck, you can't fool me.
