It's acceptable because it's a smartphone game and all the cool kids are doing it.

ffs the concept of evolution in pokemon has nothing to do with the scientific concept of evolution. they just took the name from science.

when pokemon "evolve" it's more akin to an animal becoming an adult or entering the next stage of it's life, caterpillars (?) becoming butterflies etc.
