Are there any games that deals with the concept of dreams? Like the whole game takes place in a dream or use it in interesting ways, the only game I can think that has it as the main thing is Eternal Sonata and it wasn't that good.

LSD: Dream Emulator
Spoiler Status:
LoZ: Link's Awakening
Like it or not, how can you actually be on Sup Forums and not know about Yume Nikki?
NiGHTS Into Dreams
>dreams to reality
I remember that game. a huge bugfest but that flying whale segment was goat
The Evil Within did dreams well to a point but the game losses it midway through the game and becomes a shooter. It did nightmare realm and dream transition well Ifelt
I watched Paprika some time ago. And I didn't understand jack shit.
>see pic
>parade song starts playing in my head
Fuck you OP.
Dreamweb, fantastic story.
Oh look, a movie with music composed by Susumu Hirasawa.

Stealth Berserk thread? Stealth Berserk thread.
Dragon Age Inquisition put me to sleep every time I tried to play it
Eternal Sonata
Super Mario Bros. 2 (NES)
Bloodborne is a dream within a nightmare and within a dream of a god entity... Literally.
No. You're stooping to MLP or Jojo fan levels here.
it's actually a stealth susumu hirasawa thread
>hay yo still not released yet
The Rayman games take place in the Glade of Dreams, which is the dream of a god IIRC.
That works too
Makes me upset, it's the only good thing about the CGnime
No, it's a stealth Ace Combat thread
Sorry but your garbage has nothing to do with Hirasawa.
...
I still need to watch Paprika, is it any good? I've only seen Millennium Actress of all of Satoshi Kon's works.

Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter

It's the movie that inspired Christopher Nolan to make Inception, so take that as you will.
>Jojo fan levels
huh? I haven't heard much jojo talk other than the new game announced.
In Alundra (PSX), your character has to enter people nightmares to free them of demons trying to take over the village
I haven't seen Inception either. The only movie by him I've seen is The Dark Knight.
>being mad because someone made you recall Hirasawa music
How is this even possible?
In Link's Awakening, Link's ship wrecks and he washes up on the shore of a weird island, a hot fucking bitch nurses him and tells him no one can leave the island unless some weird as egg hatches. Fastforward to halfway through the game, Link finds out the island is the dream of a giant flying whale that's been sleeping for ages, all the people in the island are also just a dream. Character's dialogue changes after that and the town's people become aware they aren't real, it was kind of weird when I noticed. Fastforward end of game, link's wakes up in the middle of the ocean holding onto a piece of his ship. Looks up to sky sees a fucking flying whale or some shit, then sees a seagul that reminds him of something the hot bitch in the dream said, kinda hinting at the hot bitch being a seagul now or some shit.
note: the hot bitch wanted to be a seagull to be able to leave the island so that's why a seagull
Silent Hill 4
Sort of. Dreams in Bloodborne are based on Lovecraft's Dream Cycle. They're not dreams in the typical sense of the word, they're real physical places that humans can only access by dreaming.
He has shit taste apparently. Hirasawa is a patrician tier musician.
>Perfect Blue
first post best post
>Perfect Blue
Dude, come on. The story and animation in that movie are subpar as fuck compared to his other works. Even Magnetic Rose was better, and that was a half-hour long short film.
Why is Hirasawa so good?
RAAA-EEEE-YAAAAAAAAA
What's this game again? I don't remember the name but envolves dreams too
yume nikki?
Satoshi Kon animes are gay ass faggot parades who can't handle real anime like Netoge.
Exactly, thanks a lot
>her irl version is more fuckable than her dream self
After all these years, I still haven't played that game.
Dat fucking opening. Everything from the visuals to the creativity and especially to the music was excellent.
Killer7 is probably the best example of a video game using a surrealist dream-like setting, by the time you finish the game the first time, you'll pretty much have no clue what happened throughout the entire game other than that you probably should have paid more attention to Travis' rambling.
The Void is also fairly bizarre to go through, and is like playing through a nightmare, but has even less ties to reality.
Does Alice count?
I considered Paprika to be much better than Pefect Blue.
Paprika kinda has a sloppy ending, but everything else is ok.
Play Yume 2kki, it's basically Yume Nikki cranked up to 11
About three to four times the size + 20 something effects, effect combos, more than one minigame, unlockable wallpapers that you get from interacting with the world/events
What the fuck did Sup Forums do to Madotsuki?
Turning her into vomit-chan was a mistake.
If have patience for an old school dungeon crawler, Persona 1 delivers in an intresting way what you ask for.
Sanitarium
40 Winks I guess.
>hear song
>always imagine pepe playing the flute
Both are really worth checking out.
Yume Nikki nails down the dream-like mood perfectly.
2kki is slightly less inspired, but it is also full of great locations and is so big that it is also pretty immersive.
>not Paranoia Agent
Is he working on the new Berserk series? I heard it was shit but maybe the music would be its saving grace.
He made a song (1 song) for it, just like he made 1 song for the shitty Golden Age movies.
>Millenium Actress
This is correct.
>overrated
Yes
>Kon's worst
Absolutely not, Paprika is still great
>DUDE THEY WERE ALL LYING AND THAT MADE IT REAL
Terrible.
>Paprika a bad
Yes
>anything but Tokyo Godfathers is his best
No
I love it when Sup Forums is right on the first post
>he doesn't understand Orwellian doublethink
lel what a pleb
LOVING
EVERY
LAUGH
Not every act of self-suggestion is doublethink, in fact doublethink is a pretty definite cognitive act
>he doesn't understand Orwellian doublethink
Not that user. But the problem with his later works is the manifestation of the dreams within the real world.
