>He still plays Morrowind when he could be playing an actual RPG like Daggerfall
Typical. Why do normies and casuals get sucked into bland games like Morrowind when you have games like Daggerfall, where you can actually have your own character?
>"endless quests" >pointless loot >flat forgettable NPCs >boring as fuck locations with nothing but dungeons with the token generic enemy in them >no sense of progression, no one acknowledges you
Daggerfall is Skyrim with sprites

Morrowind is a different game to Daggerfall, it's not like oblivion and Skyrim which are just rehashed versions of Morrowind with less features. morrowind had a hand-crafted world and quests, heavily fleshed out lore, and no more random generation. It was a huge step away from the first person roguelike gameplay of the first 2 games. you can see this especially in the dungeon design, they're quite simplistic and linear in Morrowind compared to the labyrinthine nightmares of Daggerfall. Bethesda betrayed the fans of the first two games (something they've done with single release of theirs since) by making a more accessible action RPG than a roguelike. I think that is what the guy in the pic is butthurt about.
Jack Richardson
The entire franchise is whqt killed wrpgs, from day 1, with the help of bioware of course
Matthew Thomas
>Is this what we have to look forward to in the future?
This is the most significant line in the image, and unfortunately we now know the answer was yes.
People who whine about jrpgs not being rpgs tend to miss the fact that for over a decade now, 95% of wrpgs aren't rpgs either.
They're shallow "muh open world" meme eye candy action games with some rpg elements.
Joseph Thompson
Daggerfall is just Arena but improved in every single way. Unlike the rest of the Elder Scrolls where each iteration is further dumbed down for the normies and becomes less and less of an RPG.
Morrowind is still cool though.
Gavin Bell
Good. They and the other five fans of that shitty game can fuck off
Tyler Murphy
>go into a dungeon >get lost >never find your way out wow great game
Carter Jones
>346131962 After playing through a single dungeon you have experienced everything the game has to offer.
Procedurally generated does not automatically make things better. The Dungeons are insane messes and most of the quests involve you trying to find a needle in a haystack.
Samuel Kelly
so true

>They're shallow "muh open world" meme eye candy action games with some rpg elements. just like daggerfall

>he plays ANY elder scrolls game when he could be playing neverwinter nights, icewind dale, baldur's gate, planescape torment, or literally any actual real crpg
Jaxson Miller
>he plays late '90s crpgs but refuses to touch anything older because "it's too dated"
Isaiah Moore
TES 1-4 are old. Too old. Skyrim is what it is. What is your point people?
Brody Campbell
Old games. Old clunky ugly games. So clunky they're not fun.
Kayden Butler
>crpg
the most autistic acronym in existance.
Andrew Thompson
Existence you fucking retard. Google crpg.
Jose Roberts
that would be moba
Jacob Harris
no.
Joshua Garcia
Ahaahaha Now take that wall of text and replace "Daggerfall" with "Morrowind" and "Morrowind" with "Oblivion".
Christian Mitchell
because its borderline unplayable levels of being dated
Nicholas Brown
I have more nostalgia for Oblivion than I do for Morrowind
Ethan Russell
you're nostalgic for things that other games did, that TES as a franchise didn't need, but tried to steal and fucked up?
Ayden Lopez
It's worse. It's like Skyrim but if Skyrim was 100X larger and the quests were of course more spread out and there were a million more bugs with said quests.
I'm not shitting on Daggerfall but it's a game that wouldn't fly today. I can't imagine the negative reception.
Brandon Morgan
Nah. You're just angry for the sake being angry now.
Ryan Ward
you put out your silly opinion out to public scrutiny, i'll shit on it to my heart's content and you will sit there and take it like a big boy.
Henry Young
OH OH FUCK I GOT BTFO
Carter Wright
It's not that each entry wasn't a decent game.
It's that each entry did a lot of things right and then managed to fuck everything up in spectacular fashion. Seriously. Just go back and think about it. None of them got anything done very well.
Even the paragon that people like to point, Morrowind, got the storytelling/lore/feel so good.
Yet, it fucked up the mechanics and even look of the game so bad. It was horrible to look at, had a clunky as fuck mishmash combat system, and managed to piss off fans of Daggerfall by having a postage-stamp area to explore.
Oblivion fucked up royally with 'muh scaled leveling.
Then Skyrim goes full retard and dumbs everything down to 'muh jack of all trades characters never need a do another replay your entire fucking life shit but makes the game flow so much fucking better as a narrative.

No, every tes game is objectively awful. Bad quests (oblivion is actually decent) Bad combat Bad character system Bad dungeons (with few notable exceptions) Bad stories (yes, morrowind story is awful, don't confuse story for backstory) Awful guild system (yes, morrowind too) Millions exploits No challenge at all
The only thing these games have going for them is the huge open, seamless world, which wows a lot of people I guess (me too initially) and simulation. And mods too I guess, but no mod will turn them into good games.
