Count of Cagliostro is a good entry point to the series since it stands alone and introduces all of your main characters. From there it's kind of a dive right in thing. The Fujiko series has some solid animation but focuses more on her and serves almost as a prequel of sorts to the normal lupin series.

The movie Castle of Cagliostro is a good starting point and it was made by Miyazaki of Ghibli fame. From there the first series from the 70's and the recent 2015 series in Italy were pretty stellar.
