Fuck, I want to play Castlevania Harmony of Despair on PC. What are some Coop games on PC you would suggest in its place? Any good 2D ones you would suggest? Emulator or actual PC game doesn't really matter as long as it can be played over an internet connection.
Alternatively, is there any good site that will allow me to sort through games in a thorough manner? Such as selecting options such as 2D, Coop, and so on. I tried sorting through Steam games, but the user tags don't seem comprehensive enough.

EDF 4.1 is amazing co-op.
Anthony Campbell
20XX and Risk of Rain are both pretty good and might be what you're looking for, though keep in mind the co-op isn't lobby based, so you have to know people with the game to play with them.
Blake Stewart
You can play any of the older castlevanias online and take turns when one player dies and switch off. That's fun for a bit. I really wish HoD was on PC too though I put probably close to 100 hours on the 360 version.
Jose Phillips
I had 600 on Simon alone. That game back in its hayday was some of the most fun I've ever had playing vidya.
Andrew King
Seconded. I didn't know it was out until a few hours ago. All my buddies and I bought it. Loving the shit out of it. It also supports 3440x1440 and 60FPS which is unheard of for chinese cartoon games
Jeremiah Turner
>so you have to know people with the game to play with them That isn't a problem since I'm specifically looking to play with a single person.
>20XX Might be worth bringing to my friend's attention and seeing what he thinks. Is it a short game? We put in somewhere between 2k to 4k hours into Castlevania HD, so I doubt very many games will compare in that aspect.
>Risk of Rain Is there a specific term I can use to describe these games? I'm not really fond of these games that have the really small sprites on a really big map.
Maybe I'll give this a closer look. Not exactly the type of game I was looking for, but all suggestions are welcome.
I could be remembering wrong, but I think my friend had something like 1k to 2k hours on Simon alone on the 360 version. I was a little bit more diversed. Too bad the PS3 version was the worst version. Its like they took the worst part of each patch on the 360, then found ways to make it even worse. Hymn without holy damage? WTF.
Right now I'm hoping the PS3 gets emulatable soon, and that HoD is playable.

>Its like they took the worst part of each patch on the 360, then found ways to make it even worse. Hymn without holy damage? WTF. You really got to wonder what the hell they were thinking when they did that. There was no reason to hurt Maria like that while still letting Soma run a train on the game.
Evan Young
I want to go back and buy the DLC a little bit a time for 360. No multiplayer because I am not paying for gold again and I am sure the games dead. Held out for a Steam release or a disc release that contained all of the DLC, but its clear those aren't happening now. Too old for an Xbox live sale, too. Shitty situation, but what the hell. Which dlc is best? Stages in order or no? Which characters first?
Hunter Reyes
Christ, why hasn't there been a little indie shit making an attempt to clone this game?
I'd kill for this.
Nathan Ward
Personally I found chapter 10 to be the most fun as it is the original castlevania built up to be a map. Going through each area and fighting the bosses was a nice touch and if you like using Soma then it meant getting a shit load of new souls to collect.
Parker Morris
Depends on your tastes. For stage length from longest to shortest, 10 > 11 > 8 > 7 > 9. 10 and 11 are retro styled so you may like or hate that. Stage 9 has the fastest boots. Stage 11 has Fuma gear which is good for MP recovery. Stage 10 has Belmont gear which is good for secondary weapon damage output. There is more to look out for, but it depends on what characters you like using.
I don't think DLC stages have to be done in order, but you might want to double check that.
Oliver Morgan
>tfw bringing Death into the fight against Dracula The only thing worse I could do to people was lock them into the mid-boss rooms on chapter 11. That shit pissed people off real good.
Landon Ross
I think people idolize Harmony of Despair a bit too much. It was fun for about an hour until it devolved into everyone online using Soma with a Claimh Solais
Mason Lopez
>bringing Death into the fight against Dracula I love people like you. That makes the fight so much fun, especially if you and the rest of the crew can manage to pull off the victory.
Aiden Jones
There is Unepic which is a Castelvania clone with online coop. Maybe its not like that game but its 2d and gameplay is similar
Xavier Nelson
>Claimh Solais That wasn't all that common from my experience. Valmanway on the other hand... Fuckers even took them into chapter 10 where enemies have invincibility frames after each hit so fast weapons were useless. They didn't understand that Valmanway is the worst weapon in the game for that chapter.
Honestly I wasn't that good at glitching into Death's room, let alone glitching back out again. I was pretty damn good at glitching the elevator with Simon though. I could glitch it faster than those pathetic manikin using Soma's most of the time. At the very least, I would drag in those 3 bats.
Caleb Murphy
I've done the bats a couple of times. Its not nearly as fun but it gets the job done when just Dracula was getting boring. I remember playing with this japanese player that could glitch through all those walls and get Death in the room for us when we played together. Those were some good times.
Isaac Allen
Why were the Japs so good at glitching? Damn those Japs... I wonder if I tried the 360 version if I would find a single person playing.
Connor Campbell
Unepic is complete shit, I wouldn't wish that garbage on anyone. The gameplay is as bad as the writing and the writing is some of the most cringeworthy pop culture reference filled swill you'll ever see. Makes Borderlands look well written.
Jonathan Morales
I have no idea but they could activate those glitches almost flawlessly. > I wonder if I tried the 360 version if I would find a single person playing. Maybe on the weekends at night you might get lucky and get a few to play. Otherwise your best bet is to rope your friends into the game.
Logan King
Was that shit? I only played the demo but i didnt expect to be that bad
Nathaniel Thompson
It's just mediocre enough to keep you playing almost the whole way through. The only good mechanic in it is the torch lighting which becomes pointless about halfway through when the scrolls to instantly light all torches in a room become super cheap. I almost finished the game but the final part of the game is so tedious and poorly designed that I just stopped playing rather than keep dealing with that bullshit. Basically it introduces a second playable character iwth an entirely different moveset in the final hour of the game and you have to switch between that character who is bascially playing a tower defense section and the main character who's doing the most challenging and boring section of platforming in the game. Make no mistake though, the boss fights are shit, the combat is shit, the magic is shit, the exploration is shit, the level design is shit, and the script may be one of hte worst I've ever seen.
