Armored Warfare offers modern vehicles with similar gameplay mechanics.

Men of war has the most satisfying artillery of any game. Shell a building and it'll collapse on itself. Hit a tank and it'll explode in a spectacular fashion with the turret flying off.

Artillery is really good in HoI IV, yes. Superior Firepower doctrine is set and forget tier. Especially if you're a minor and can't produce tanks.

i might be talking out of my ass but i assume it works like a normal gun. they stick that little buddy in the end then when they want to fire it gets struck, ignites and starts the actual firing of the shell

Yeah, though if you time it well after forcing a blob to retreat, you can wipe really good players off the map. Just gotta send a moto or a sniper around into their base and time it well.
