Depends whether Capcom stops being retarded.

DMC4 getting significant new content 7 years later with Special Edition means that the muscle is still there atleast.

>old game getting a remake

Doesn't mean anything in this modern age where games that are barely 1 year old are getting remasters.

>Doesn't mean anything in this modern age where games that are barely 1 year old are getting remasters.

If the game would have been a simple port I would've agreed with you, but it's not.

The old developers went back and added three new playable characters with a plethora of moves while also recording 4 new cutscenes with the old actors.

Most other remasters have a simple framerate and resolution bump, done by some little cheap team in Poland. They hardly ever had new content.

>title doesn't have a guy in the title and maybe doing the slash effect for the number

>significant new content
ahahahaha, i fucking wish

I hope so man.... I really do.

>Three new playable characters in a character action game isn't significant content.

What?

Which is better? DMC4 or DMC (reboot/remake)

DMC4 has better gameplay.

DmC has a better campaign.

Story is arguable but I would both are pretty bad.

DMC4

Lady/Trish are really bare bones, and both Vergil's and Trish's movesets are largely copied from Dante.

Vergil is still really fun to play though.

Anyone else remember the early DMC4 trailers when Nero's arm was yellow instead of blue?

I wonder if this Devil Trigger was still planned for the game back then.

>Lady/Trish are really bare bones, and both Vergil's and Trish's movesets are largely copied from Dante.
It was made in like a less than a year so that's understandable.

It's not a big problem imo if it makes sense to reuse it. Dante's animations in 4 are mostly ripped straight out of DMC3.

O-of course user...
Just wait for TGS, i-it will surely be there...
hold me

>It was made in like a less than a year so that's understandable.
they had 8 years, to complete a game that they shipped in half-finished state

instead they put even more half-baked characters on top of it and called it a day

>they had 8 years, to complete a game that they shipped in half-finished state
No they didn't, that's not how game development works.

Fixing DMC4's campaign would be a huge undertaking. Dante would require new levels, enemies and bosses, and as a result new cutscenes aswell for stuff like the Gilgamesh, Pandora and Lucifer fight. It would be extremely costly.

And at that point it makes more sense just to make a new game.

E3 didn't really make sense for DMC anymore. Capcom already had DR4 and RE7.

Sadly DMC is not as big as it used to be.

>Sadly DMC is not as big as it used to be

Gee I wonder why.

The funny part is that DmC was actually the first DMC to get announced at TGS.

You would think that the westernization attempt would have been more suitable for E3, but I guess Capcom's faith in the franchise was lower even back then.

...

Is this Monster Hunter 5?

Close enough

Already happening. Pretty cool too, they're going back to the DMC3 style.

>There are people that will fall for this.

>that will
Uhh....

I thought this was going to be that shitty African YouTube movie also called Devil May Cry. I was disappointed.

Anyone know the video I'm talking about?

I gotchu

Thanks mate.

youtube.com/watch?v=mMmk8PY370k
just wait for TGS
fuck

No it isn't.

DMC is a dead brand now and will only be used for Pachislot bullshit.

Thanks DmC

>Le "pachinko=no more proper games" meme.

Explain then how old DMC games also got pachinko machines and Konami has already started hiring for a new mainline Metal Gear?

>Ton of proper gaming websites actually fell for this shit during E3.

That was pretty embarrassing.

CapcomJP here, I really enjoyed trolling you guys. Was the best laugh in my entire life. Ready the reaction on Sup Forums and social media had me in tears, everyone was looking at me like I was so mad man. I truly need that after being so depressed that DMC5 wasn't announced.

>why?
I simply saw that you all were vulnerable and wanted to profit.

It's gonna be either TGS or PSX I warrant.

>Konami has already started hiring for a new mainline Metal Gear
Source?

Konami has money because they had successful shit and have been in the pachislot industry for awhile.
Capcom does not and had several failed games alongside DmC.
SF5 literally could not have happened without Sony giving them money to make it.

DMC is not coming back for the foreseeable future because Capcom is trying to stabilize their shit right now.

It's why Resident Evil Umbrella Corps was a thing, it's all to grab quick money to have their own shit settled again.

>Source?

eurogamer.net/articles/2015-12-18-konami-is-hiring-for-a-new-metal-gear

what was this

>Konami has already started hiring for a new mainline Metal Gear?
who cares, it's just going to be streamlined shit without kojima at the helm

no

...

>DMC is not coming back for the foreseeable future because Capcom is trying to stabilize their shit right now.

But that's probably exactly why they would be making DMC5.

Dragon's Dogma 2 would be too ambitious and risky, meanwhile DMC4SE was a rush job with a bunch of rehashed animations and that shit made Capcom's profits jump 51% during release, I wouldn't be surprised if it is close to a million sales by now.

DMC5 could easily be the same, a bunch of reused DMC4 assets done at lower costs.

>No plans [for now]
>Meanwhile DMC is in Capcom's fiscal report at early 2018 a month later.

it's probably just a maybe thing, they can freely change their minds and focus on some other projects, 2018 is a long time from now

Pretty sure that's Devil May Cry The Last Judgement 2

>I wouldn't be surprised if it is close to a million sales by now.
DMC4SE sold on 150~200k on steam, sold less on consoles from what I remember
hardly a million

>"DID YOU GUYS EVEN READ MY CLICKBAIT?????????"
I fucking hate gaming "journalists"

>MY CLICKBAIT?????????
>implying uncle Reub wrote that article

No idea if it cleared a million but it sold a lot more on consoles than PC and Capcom was happy with it's sales.

>51% jump
Thought it was 100%

>Capcom's profits jump 51%
DmC DE was there too. Stay mad.

>DmC DE
>barely broke 100k for both PS4 and X1
lel, for a PC version with mods tacked on, guess it would make a profit

>DMC4SE sold on 150~200k on steam, sold less on consoles from what I remember
>hardly a million

DMC has mostly been a PlayStation/console franchise. Japs don't really game on PC and they got a physical release and Japanese dub for DMC4SE over there. 150k for DMC4SE on Steam is very good.

If DMCHD could crack 1 mil as of March 2016 then DMC4SE could too. The game has sold 500k at the very least. With sales and shit I wouldn't be surprised if that game appears on their Platinum 1 million list next March.

They're profits jumped 100%, but DMC4SE made up 51% of that.

>what if DMC5 will not have Reuben, Dan and Johnny etc. returning
>what if somebody else does Dante
>what if Dante doesn't even return, and you play as his daughter or something

>it's a phone game
But whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy????
Jesus, all of these games rip art styles from othor properties. It doesn't even look like an accident, it's ripped straight from Vergil. Fucking south koreans.

The panel leak implied that they were all coming back.

This sadly makes it sound like it was planned but potentially cancelled.

If they get the Dante from the first game I'd be fine with that. He was really good at sounding cocky.

>DmC is the first DMC to get announced at TGS
>there's a rumor/leak that a DMC game will get announced at TGS or PSX
Devil may Cry Devil May Cry 2 confirmed?

>Dante doesn't even return
NO WAY
i'd be ok with multiple playable characters
i'd be ok if the protag isn't dante
i'd be ok if dante is a side character
but no dante at all would be really sad

>Fucking south koreans
hey, don't blame the korks. blame the chinks

it happened 5 years ago you meme loving fuck
youtube.com/watch?v=qJOB1XRsqC8

I enjoy your cringey stuff and all, but stop shilling your vids man.

Am I the only one excited for tge possibility that a new MGS might be actually goodin the hands of another director? I'ms emi confident Konami won't treat the IP like shit.

>EmptyHero
If I want Sup Forums circlejerking I just go on Sup Forums.

Regardless what you say DmC DE was apart of that jump whether you like it or not. You can post any and all negatives and it'll still be apart of the jump.

Not to mention the main thing you have to worry about when making a game is your backers who aren't gamers and do not see DMC as marketable in the current era which is why Capcom randomly decided it was time to reboot the franchise.

>Am I the only one excited for tge possibility that a new MGS might be actually goodin the hands of another director? I'ms emi confident Konami won't treat the IP like shit.
Konami and a new director would know they would be working against the stream, they would know they would've something to prove.

That's very good for a potential new Metal Gear, Kojima has had his dick sucked for too long which has led to the awful writing in 4, PW and V.

>do not see DMC as marketable in the current era which is why Capcom randomly decided it was time to reboot the franchise.

>do not see DMC as marketable in the current era
>DMC4 best selling game in the franchise by far, at this point probably outsells the rest of the series combined

You missed the part about bakers not being gamers.

Shut off your fanboyism for just 3 seconds and realize they don't give a shit about something decades old when you have shit like CallofDuty hitting the billion mark.

>Not to mention the main thing you have to worry about when making a game is your backers who aren't gamers and do not see DMC as marketable in the current era which is why Capcom randomly decided it was time to reboot the franchise.
Capcom said themselves that their excessive outsourcing and bloated productions have been damaging.

Capcom's own Japanese games always had a market, they just got greedy. REmake: re-release, DMC4SE and Dragon's Dogma PC have all been very profitable for them.

Yes.

>Dragon's Dogma PC
I heard this game sold like crap, got a source for your claims?

Is this actual concept art or fanart?

Never seen it before.

if you trust steam spy I don't about 400k sold there

mcvuk.com/news/read/dragon-s-dogma-dark-arisen-is-capcom-s-fastest-selling-pc-game/0162379

>that website

Nigga who the fuck are they? Give me a better source. One closer to home.

Just fanart, I think. It's too clean for concept art.

Jesus Christ that was awful, who would make this abomination?

what if the dude that did DMC2 returns
because DMC5 is the sequel to/pseudo remake of DMC2

>too clean for concept art.
too clean for Japanese concept art you mean

western concept art is so fucking lavish it seems they spend more time and money on it than bugtesting the games

>who would make this abomination

Believe it or not, this is the best cut scene of Vergil killing demons.

>Dan leaks that they will be returning
>Capcom gets pissed and replaces all three of them
hope not

>Believe it or not, this is the best cut scene of Vergil killing demons
youtube.com/watch?v=UEkmsMLJ2dc

That's literally the original source dude.

I'm more worried Street Fighter V's awful launch fucked things up for DMC.

>release less than half finished game
>it bombs
almost like nobody wants shit like that

You really think this is better?

I'm curious to know how

Can you elaborate user?

SFV is doing fine, especially with the last 4 characters getting positive feedback from everyone and thanks to Summer sales and EVO.

Rumors are that Sony would help co-fund DMC5.
Sony also helped co-fund SFV.
SFV also had a hot garbage fire of a launch.
That doesn't exactly bode well for future partnerships.

Oh. Alright then. Fair enoug. I just don't trust websites that I'll never heard of, they tend to give out false information.

I don't think it will hurt that bad

SFV was somewhat popular at EVO this year, and Sony continues to find the funds for shitty blockbusters every year

Don't forget that Sony also did the RE movies for Capcom, and it was a smashing, 6 movie success

Yeah, but the problem is that SFV wasn't a success at launch.

Back in February the shitty release might have made Sony pull the plug on DMC, and once the ball stops rolling it takes a hell of a lot to get it rolling again.

SFV's sales might have been too late, that's just speculation though.

According to an IR site, they were expecting 2mil unit and only manage to hit 1.4mil. I wonder what do the numbers look like now. I sure they manage to get those last 600k units.

Yeah, but the fact that they rushed SFV out so that they could include it in their march fiscal report; and then they can't even hit 2 mil for one of their biggest franchises, makes them look pretty bad.

>western concept art is so fucking lavish it seems they spend more time and money on it than bugtesting the games
I've never really thought about this until you pointed it out.

Japanese concept art is often quick sketches with a rough idea of what they are looking for. Western concept art is fucking proper paintings at times.

Sort of feels like fucked up priorities.

I wish Itsuno would just move on to Platinum Games already, form his own team and create a new stylish IP instead of watching his talents wash away. He has a guaranteed spot at Platinum Games and could even pass the touch to their wild card Takahisa Taura.

Takahisa Taura is literally the future of stylish action games.
