I highly doubt nintendo would "lose billions" over some fact literally everyone already knew. You should find a better news site.
Nintendo was just saving their asses.
People kept assuming Nintendo would get crazy money over Go, so they just told them that wasnt the case so by the time report their profits, they dont come off as liars.
they could have bought into more shares for control of pokemon but instead they only had about a 32% stake. Now because of this, they barely get anything from the popularity of the game
Gamefreak should leave Nintendo.
What is the "truth bomb"?
Did it actually lose value or just go back to what it was before the Pokemon Go shit started?
>I highly doubt nintendo would "lose billions" over some fact literally everyone already knew
>everyone already knew
Oh user, you and your faith in humanity.
Less than 1% of people know that Pokemon isn't made by Nintendo. Even though it says Game Freak right in the opening credits.
HURRRRRR
Nintendo doesn't make jack shit from Pokemon Go.
They would've gotten more backlash if they didn't, people calling them liars.
...
Like how everyone knew that the Wii U wasn't just an addon for the Wii?
You're giving people too much credit.
>yfw some people made millions on buying nintendo stock just before and selling it at the high point before the announcement
>mistake
Nintendo never said they made it. A bunch of investors saw it and were all like "hur dur nindendo made pokeyman ima buy stock now"
>gamefreak
have not existed in years, its pokemon company
Nintendo very clearly stated their actual goal for their mobile games: to sell their actual games.
XY, ORAS and the other games are selling like hotcakes on Amazon now. People getting more 3DSes.
That's what they wanted from the beginning.
Idiot investors bought billions of Nintendo shares because they thought Nintendo owned Pokemon and didn't think to fucking check. As soon as they found out that Nintendo is only one of three owners, they panicked and bailed out.
Remember: these are the people in charge of our entire economy. These FUCKING IDIOTS WHO DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THEY*RE BUYING.
they sold stock because that's how the market works. More people will buy and sell in even shorter time.
This is just ''gaming journo'' corrpution. Remember the ''gamers are dead'' headlines? All launched at the same time. Same thing happneing here.
Sony must have wired these san francisco douchebags some good money.
Or maybe they bought it because of the good press Ninty was getting despite being not the full owners of Pokemon? I don't blame them if they didn't know though, "Nintendo seal of quality" sigils are on most Pokemon products anyway.
Oh well it's not that guy's fault they took something everyone already knew about and gave it some clickbait name.
>retarded old people investing a bunch of money into a video game company without doing any research whatsoever
Reminds me a lot of the 1920's, stupid old people make a bunch of horrible investments because they are retarded, investments don't pay off, then the entire world suffers.
Normies don't do research at all? they never claimed they made the game.
The game was always known for being outsourced to Niantic under Nintendo's license.
>Nintendo recently admitted it won't directly profit
>[...]
>Nintendo has a 32% stake in The Pokemon Company
Shitty article
Which is it?
Who was stupid enough to credit this to nintendo. Like fuck you skip game freak and go straight to nintendo?
fast jumps lead to fast drops, i doubt anyone slightly familiar with economics was surprised
I think I saw site that said the stake was only 13 in the App itslef which is even lower.
Yes it is, learn to read, retard.
Now this is just anecdotal, but every friend, family member, and acquaintance I know seems to think Pokemon is Nintendo's. This includes people who own many different game consoles/PCs and aren't total casuals. I've also seen people make this mistake on the internet for the past 10+ years. I'd like to believe you're right, but I think you might just overestimate the human race, user.
That title is shit.
Their stock dropped from an inflated price back to normal after they revealed it wasn't a huge money maker for them.
>first Nintendo stock skyrockets
>then it freefalls back down
Fickle world indeed.
It's both, you idiot. Nintendo will only get what chump change Pokemon Company decides to give it.
a 32% stake means very little for revenue streams after accounting is made.
How exactly do you lose billions when someone states a fact?
This. Fucking morons who can't do 5 minutes of research drive the economy and government. I hope the actual developer at least gets a boost from this dumb shit.
The company that made it literally pasted a Pokemon skin over a pre-existing game. The only part Nintendo was involved in was saying OK to them using it.
This isn't fucking news, everyone should have known this easily-obtained info.
there are more to economy than investors
you sound just like those "idiot investors" in this matter m8
I didn't know that Pokemon wasn't Nintendo's because before Pokemon GO I have seen absolutely nothing that indicated otherwise.
32% is not a lot.
>says some kid who gets all his info from clickbait "news" sites
How's Hillary doing, kid?
Everyone who is in charge of anything doesn't know shit about video games. Be it politics, economy of even fucking video game companies.
>people look at stock values
>for the 50th time
I don't even understand this stock shit and I don't care but this is too much autism even for people on 4chin
Stocks are not profits.
CAPITALIST
RATIONALITY
This whole event showed just how ill-informed some investors are, especially when it comes to video games. Until something that was publicly known was actually announced by Nintendo and spelled out clearly, traders didn't factor it in. Most major investors don't understand the industry well enough. For those that do understand it, I think it's ripe for investments.
>easy to obtain
top kek
>implying old people research anything about video games
You asked what the "truth bomb" is when it is clearly described in the image that you got that phrase from.
I didn't say I got my information from clickbait, I got my information by reading the fucking image this thread started with. Maybe you should in the future so you don't embarrass yourself.
What the fuck is it with videogames and retarded clickbait articles?
>Nintendo says they won't adjust their predicted revenue despite Pokemon GO's success
>investors sell stocks
>"journalists" feel obliged to spin it harder than they do tanned german incidents instead of reporting
All this does is add another "magazine" to immediately disregard if it ever gets quoted on something I disagree with.
32% of what ever the company that profits directly. So a percentage of a percentage, and not directly.
Not hard to understand.
I bet someone just bought a new car after shorting nentendo.
Yes, basically people who had no prior involvement with investing saw how popular GO was and bought in based on their emotions. That's a recipe for disaster.
technically they don't really lose millions
in fact they made a lot of money
Nintendo wasn't involved at all. Gamefreak and The Pokemon Company combined own more of Pokemon than Nintendo do.
>but instead they only had about a 32% stake.
Which is the highest stake anyone has in the pokemon company.
Nintendo technically has the majority.
Why would anyone ever think that they developed it? Nintendo hasn't developed a single Pokemon game ever.
Truth bomb? What?
Are people retarded?
They also get advised by people like pic related.
>"Almost half of my predictions are true, hue!"
>Even the official website says 2016 Pokemon/Nintendo
woooow
i was trying to imply that nintendo had a chance before the outcome to invest more heavily in the other 2 companies. They blew that chance thinking this wouldn't be popular.
>Truth Bomb? What?
read the thread, you super retard
>reading clickbait images
Heh, maybe you'd be better off at reddit.
of course they are
they are the same people that think Nintendo makes Fire Emblem
No, investors jumped the gun because they didn't understand the relationship between Niantic and Nintendo
>enter thread
>ignore what thread is about
>post anyway
Okay
I'd rather check the article because that's expicitly what it says, you super retard.
>Are people retarded?
Yep. In general.
But they own the IP. Why does it matter who made it? What is selling it's the brand, not the dev's name.
Nintendo owns Pokemon, Pokemon is a popular franchise, mainstream will eat everything related to pokemon.
Why does it matter who made the game?
no dipshit, blame the Fed for that.
>enter clickbait thread
>click clickbait images
Sorry I was wrong. You're obviously a burncuck.
>Big "NIANTIC" logo when you boot up the game
>People are still surprised by this fact
I bet they think that their favorite pop idols actually produce their own music
it matters who gets the money in the end, and that is what investing is about.
Then fucking reverse search or type in "Pokemon GO" into Google, you super retard.
thank you mister turned based singleplayer
>stockholders literally didn't know it was outsourced
what the fuck how could you be so fucking stupid
maybe it was a conscious decision
nintendo has been known to make some questionable investment decisions but somehow they always seem to make it
>Nintendo gains billions upon Pokemon Go's launch because of retarded people who don't do any research buying stock
>Nintendo loses billions upon those retarded people learning they invested into the wrong thing because they're retarded.
Stocks are dumb.
And meanwhile, you
>enter clickbait thread
>read clickbait image
>fail to understand what you read
>post gibberish
How retarded do you need to be to be even have the reading comprehension to understand the most dumbed-down form of media?
And then people will continue to defend those people and allow them to do it again
actual broker here. the vast majority of people I traded nintendo for didn't know or care if they did, they were chasing gains, which is retarded as fuck to do
Nintendo owns a 32% voting stake in the company that DOES own Pokemon. I believe they also own Creatures, but that could have spun off into an independent company by now, and even if they DID own Creatures, that doesn't mean Nintendo owns a 66% share in TPC - Creatures still gets to independently vote.
But pokemon go concept isn't new. There are plenty of games doing what pokemon go is doing.
The only reason why pokemon go is a huge success it's thanks to the brand. The name pokemon.
Nintendo owns that. Nintendo is the reason why the game is so popular
>enter clickbait thread
>with any intention other than shitposting
Sorry your fave jew got cucked by Hillary. :'(
Nintendo owns all the designs to pokemon characters in actuality. They may not own all the pokemon company, but the other holders in the company cannot do jack shit without them.
no, the point of stocks is to figure out where stupid people are investing and then shorting it.
10 years of investing experience, ask me anything.
Nintendo doesn't own the Pokemon Brand. The Pokemon Company does, and Nintendo is a partial owner of that company.
>Nintendo owns Pokemon
We just spent the whole thread saying how this is not true.
What's it like being a white collar sociopath?
Can someone explain this to me? I thought that Pokemon was owned by either Gamefreak and Nintendo? What's with Niantic and The Pokemon Company?
If I was the Hitler of the world, I would decree that any stock in a company you buy, you have to keep till the end of your life. It should be you buying a stake in a company whose future you believe in, not you horseracing and chasing after trending memes.
I know nothing about investing. Should I be investing?
...
>Nintendo owns that
Nope.
>chasing gains is a retarded thing to do
enlighten me user, isnt it the whole purpose of stock trading in the first place?
do you do a lot of cocaine?
>have not existed in years
That's so retarded I can't even possibly begin to write a sensible answer.
thanks
Nintendo does however own the logos, names and monster designs. Plus they own 1/3 of Pokemon company and also own a portion of the other two companies that own Pokemon.
Essentially, the money will make its way back to Nintendo in some way.
Not to mention driving attention to Pokemon and the systems that plays it.
Probably. You'd fit in with 95% of the professionals that do it.
Nintendo didn't make or lose any money. This is a perfect example of why stocks don't represent revenue in any way, shape, or form.
Stocks represent "how confident the general public is that the company will be making more money in the future," in their most sensible form. At worst, they represent "hey, I bet that every OTHER sucker thinks the stock price is gonna go up!".
The point is that this sort of thing happens all the time and it's the main reason why stocks don't fucking mean anything. What was it, King Digital? Who owned Candy Crush? They did an IPO and their stock price crashed from the high 10s to the low 1s. Not because they weren't making money - they were making CRAZY bank. But because they don't offer dividends and nobody thought they were going to be making any MORE money later on, regardless of their current revenue stream.
And the public is almost always wrong, as in this Nintendo example. People DOUBLED Nintendo's stock price. Over one fucking app, which they don't even own.
