It's a box, laptop sort of size, internal battery and whatnot, It can wifi video to a controller tablet like the WiiU one but smaller and sleeker or be hooked up to a TV Dock to play on your TV.
The idea is that you can carry it in a bag and play anywhere while also being a "Full" console.

Alright, who wants some more insider information?
System details:
It is NOT a hybrid console in the way you may assume. There are two 'parts' to the console. The handheld portion and the console portion. Both are sold separately, for an extraordinarily low price, $150 each. Keep in mind these systems can both run cutting edge titles like BOTW. Cartridges ARE returning, and can be used interchangably between them. I can confirm they load much more quickly than discs. A big reason for BOTW's frame rate problems is due to designing it for use on the cartridges first. Please note the claim that the visuals are better on NX are is a lie.
Note that both the handheld and home consoles consoles are not identical. They do have their own unique features, such as the handheld's ability to connect to the internet from anywhere (Provided you pay a fee) among other things. Also, meeting people in public with Nintendo mobile games will benefit both parties. The idea is to make NX owners VERY popular with mobile users.

I hope this thing plays the same games as its handheld counterpart. I hope the home console has a huge focus on local multiplayer and breaks the four person cap by letting portable NX players join the fun. I hope the home console has a freeform capacitive touch second screen on the controller, which while not the main focus, is easy to reach and can show maps or items. I hope the portable is similar to the 3DS but with a higher resolution screen instead of stereoscopic 3D, and I dream that the display is OLED. I hope it has a comfier form factor, and capacitive touch on the lower screen that can be easily reached because of its freeform factor. And what the hell, let's bring rumble to portables.

Head-tracking 3D is the gimmick I would bet hardest on. And one I'd be happy with. A little bit better depth perception would be great for Mario's 3D and Kart outings alike. Interoperability is also a "gimmick" that could be marketed hard.

Wii U backwards compatibility. The new controller to be a flat small clam shaped design that folds open. Has inner indentions to allow a analog stick to be in it. Has a freeform screen as the inner surface, so it has two screens. Has scroll wheel triggers so the screen can be adjusted so your fingers don't get in the way of anything on the screen while playing. Can close the controller and take it around separately as its own handheld device.

Online that has its shit together. OS isn't a clusterfuck again. A standard controller as a default. Somehow manages to help replace the 3DS so that I don't have to deal with a shitty resolution and lack of native 2nd analog. HAS FUCKING GAMES made for it. Games are returned to their roots, such as Mario Kart being decent for couch co-op and Mario Party not being a complete piece of shit. Other shit I probably forgot to mention.
