I'm going to revisit some pokemon games, but all my consoles are broken or gone. Should I buy a DS or a gameboy advance? Think I'll play leafgreen and emerald at least.
Also what pokemon game is GOAT?

Just emulate. You can get all the games all the way to gen 5 easily
Not sure if I want to sit at my PC and play pokemon honestly. Done it before, it ain't the same experience. I need to chill in all positions in sofas and stuff.
you can play GBA games on a DS, or GBC on a DS phat, you dunce
GBC games don't work on any DS.
Yeah, I'll have to look into price difference though. But I'm seeing the games are being sold at crazy prices, have old pokemon games become collector items? Jesus
If you have a PSP, play it on that
If you have a non-Apple phone, play it on that
If you can be bothered to make an emulating device for ~30 dollars, do that
If you can't do any of those, buy a used DS Lite so you get both Gameboy ports/DS ports, a solid backlight and rechargable batteries
3DS' are also good, because you can buy Emerald/Leafgreen/ect online if you don't have your old copies and you're too fucking stupid to emulate so you pay $20 to download 3kb of a game that's got no changes outside of unneeded censorship
It's a fad because normies love Pokemon Go and want to look retro, wait a few weeks and the prices will plummet
Got a Samsung S5, can I emulate on it? A proper pokemon experience is worth paying for anyway.
Download MyBoy on the play store for GBA, nds4droid for DS. Use it just like you'd use it on PC to play what you want
Heart gold/soul silver is the best in the series, imo. Used prices are unreasonable though
They've been expensive as shit forever retard.
Get an original DS, pretty cheap and they're sturdy.
I've had 3 DS Lites break on me without any abuse to the systems, it's fucking retarded. The Lite's build quality is low as fuck.
Use My Boy for GBA and buy Drastic for DS, all other DS emulators are fucking shit
Buy a PSP or a 2DS and get emulators on those. I'm on your side in regards to needing the freedom to adjust and move around.
Or use a smartphone if you have one. If you don't, you can get a no-contract Android phone and emulate GBA on that for less than fifty bucks. Just don't buy a phone plan with it.
DS lite with a flashcart
emulating on phones and playing with touchscreen is a fucking mess
best games are heartgold/soulsilver, emerald, black 2/white 2
ds has a gba slot... DS is also the best handheld ever made.
Get a DS and Pokemon Platinum (aka the best in the series
Then use a tablet.
Are there any good GBA flashcarts?
They last time I looked, things like EZflash whatever had issues with how you had to keep the cart constantly powered or else your save would be erased, or other shenanigans.
Can you complete the pokédex by only playing the 3ds games?
I haven't played any of the ds ones and I don't feel like going back to them
DS is the only right choice.
HG/SS. B/W/B2/W2. and Platinum are all the best versions of Pokemon out.
Outside of some of the 'mythical' legendary Pokemon, yes. Things like Mew, Celebi, etc are unobtainable outside of events/give aways.
Whats with all the pomemon threads lately like everyday there is atleast 1 thread about someone teying to get into or revisit pokemon again.
I don't mind or anything, but I am curious.
Pokemon Go
>HG/SS. B/W/B2/W2. and Platinum are all the best versions of Pokemon out.
>B/W/B2/W2
>No Emerald
You have to be 18 to post here
Thread is about a choice between the two, though getting a DS phat they can enjoy Emerald and FR/LG as well.
Or OP can just suck up not being able to play them via handheld and just emulate everything on his PC because buying old GBA/DS Pokemon titles is expensive.
>buying old GBA/DS Pokemon titles is expensive
A truth I know too well... I should never have gotten rid of my Platinum version...
Buy a 3ds, hack it and play from gen 1 to 6 for free
black 2 with the challenge mode enabled is the best pokemon game
too bad you have to beat the game at least once to unlock it. Also, no. A challenge mode cant make up for lack of interesting pokemon and story
You're a retard man.
But he's right, they don't work on the DS. The last handheld to play GB/GBC games was the GBA SP.
>lack of interesting Pokemon
But Black2/White2 have the most diverse wild Pokemon spread.
>and story
Continuation of the story from B/W that was about the only story in Pokemon mainline games, isn't a story?
there are plenty of interesting pokemon and interesting item choices for those pokemon throughout the early game, which is so much more than what any other pokemon game can say
it's post elite 4 is fucking bananas compared to every other pokemon game as well
it's what pokemon could be but nintendo refuses to make for some reason
>most diverse wild Pokemon spread.
Sure, they were diverse, but most if not all of them are extremely forgettable. Including the legendaries.
>Continuation of the story from B/W that was about the only story in Pokemon mainline games, isn't a story?
D/P/Pt had a really interesting story with the enemy team who got closest to achieving their goal which is also the most evil goal in the series
(However, I will admit that I did like the story of B/W but only after N's Castle shows up)
first problem with this:
If youve played one pokemon, youve played them all. except the spin offs maybe.
second:
>Im gonna hunt down and buy decade old games
emulate them holy fuck. All I ever played pokemon games at was at home anyway.
no different on pc. also save states
Oh yeah that makes sense.
Stupid of me to not even think about it.
Lots of people who never played the mainline games are now playing Go and are wondering what they've missed, then you have adults who 'grew out' of Pokemon at a certain age and missed a few generations.
