>On the move, NX will function as a high-powered handheld console with its own display. So far so normal – but here’s the twist: we’ve heard the screen is bookended by two controller sections on either side, which can be attached or detached as required.
>Then, when you get home, the system can connect to your TV for gaming on the big screen.
>A base unit, or dock station, is used to connect the brain of the NX – within the controller – to display on your TV.
>NX will use game cartridges as its choice of physical media, multiple sources have also told us.
>Considering NX’s basis as a handheld first and foremost, the choice may not come as too much of a surprise – although we have heard the suggestion Nintendo recommends a 32GB cartridge
>Inside the NX, as stated above, the system will harness Nvidia’s powerful mobile processor Tegra. Graphical comparisons with current consoles are difficult due to the vastly different nature of the device – but once again we’ve heard Nintendo is not chasing graphical parity. Quite the opposite, it is sacrificing power to ensure it can squeeze all of this technology into a handheld, something which also tallies with earlier reports.
Anyone who wasn't a retard knew this was going to be the case.
A big reason as to why I think this leak is believable compared to the others is that it's filled with little tidbits that no one expected, but fall in line with what Nintendo said they were going to do.
Where were you when Breath of the Wild Wii U was confirmed the definitive version?
I'm interested in seeing what they do with their home console, though. I doubt they will abandon it outright, but I think we can expect to see both console and handheld play a lot of the same games.
Isaiah Turner
>It's another gimmick console
Matthew Brooks
If BOTW Wii U is the definitive version, where did the 4k screenshots come from?
I know you've got a summer break to enjoy Cody, so do your research
Cameron Diaz
Really interesting stuff.
But does it have a second screen? I think removing the second screen from the DS would be a mistake.

>After the confused PR fiasco of the Wii U launch, the company is already settling on a simple marketing message for NX - of being able to take your games with you on the go.
"Console quality on the go"
Why did they think this was a good idea?
Camden Carter
Nintendo: to show we are committed to home consoles we are announcing our next home console along with the roll out of our partnership with DeNA >makes a handheld
Caleb Bennett

nintendon't whan genesdo.
Owen Watson
Nintendo has games though.
Adrian Scott
The fact that EG just has "A number of sources" and in the the companion article highlights the performance of the Shield with games like D3BFG, etc. has me leaning on the side of caution with this, but I'd like for Nintendo to have a more high-powered handheld, simply because of what this could potentially mean for the supposed ports from the Wii U, such as Sm4sh, Mario Maker and Splatoon.
It's not what I thought I wanted, but it's interesting. Fair enough.
Easton Russell
Not enough for my tastes
Nolan Johnson

The logical next progression. Now their development teams won't be split between consoles and handhelds.

The eurocuck shills are in full force today.
Oliver Ross
>there will never be a Nintendo version of steam
Bentley Lee
It is a fantastic idea for those smart enough to know that quality =/= graphics. Mobile games are different to console games, that is true. They usually are played in quick bursts. However, a hybrid that can do both is desirable for those with the time to invest in a console game on the go (eg long train rides etc)
Lucas Scott
I am so excited to see when Nintendo reveals the NX and is nothing like this.
Jack Walker
This sounds amazing. I really want a hybrid console.
Austin Diaz
where are the motion controls for people without fingers?
Easton Smith
>They apparently considered it It could work in this day and age though, with how cheap flash memory is. Stick a decent sized SSD inside the console and SD card support and they'd have no issue
This isn't the PSP Go.
Alexander Cooper
god damnit Nintendo just make a fucking console. Stop with the gimmicks.
Austin Gray
>It is a fantastic idea for those smart enough to know that quality =/= graphics. As someone suffering while barely being able to play games at 720p, I think a certain level of graphics are necessary in 2016. And it ain't 720p30fps
Jordan Davis
32GB sounds too much, sounds like a waste of money. Consider how small gamecube games are and how good they are at that size, and they still have high quality, modern level graphics. 8GB should be enough.
Owen Cox
...
Ethan Williams
If it doesn't have shit to play then it doesn't matter anyway. Its a damn shame, but I refuse to buy it for another Mario or Zelda game. They'll need some decent 3rd party stuff, otherwise things are gonna be tough. Cartridge based home console in this day and age? Keep that shit in 93 when it was all the rage.
Jaxson Hill
This is great news, now I can summarily ignore it and just need to buy a PS4 NEO now, saved money for me, thanks Nintendo!
Joshua Roberts
But Iwata did publicly apologize for E3 2015.

Portable console-like gaming experiences on the go
Oh I did not remeber that we just explored how unprofitable unfeasible and undesirable that is in practice.
You needed a more powerful console, the handhelds were doing fine, in fact the climate for them is in such a shit shape introducting an irregularly expensive one will just mean lower sales and a slower adoption rate from a year on year decline of interested in the handheld business.

I wouldn't be successful. A Nintendo version of steam would at best, be a digital download only Nintendo console. The very fact that you have to buy a Nintendo system to access it puts it at a disadvantage when compared to steam. The two platforms wouldn't really be competing, but nobody would look at Nintendo's thing and go, oh like steam, and buy in. Everybody has a computer.
Most game sales are physical, as well. When the only option is digital, you might see a shift, but I don't imagine anybody wants to be the first person to push for that shift, because you will inevitably lose customers. Not everybody can download all of their games, and even many people who can will opt for the simplicity of buying a disc and popping it in. Although lots of physical media games have day one updates and patches, it isn't as lengthy as downloading the entire game, and those patches really aren't something most people think about when they think about how convenient a disc is. There are also collectors who just prefer physical media on principle.
Finally, Nintendo has not earned an iota of trust with regards to spearheading a digital platform. They still barely have an account system, and you have to jump through tons of hoops if something happens to the system your games were downloaded on. Even if they rectified all of these issues over night before they launched such a platform, a lot of people would rightfully be wary. They need to prove themselves capable of properly supporting digital download options on regular consoles before trying a digital only one.
Jaxson Lee
Can someone explain to me how devs are supposed to port PS4/Xbone games to this? Coz it looks like it ain't happening.
Brandon Nguyen
that's nice and all but the handheld market has lost 100+ million consumers from last gen and is becoming either a niche or dying market.
Jace Edwards

No fucking thanks. What good is a handheld without Etrian Odyssey
Carter Lewis
>However, a hybrid that can do both From the specs, its going to be an overpowered handheld and an underpowered console. I literally could not imagine anything worse happening for the NX right now. It is a fundamental design fuck up, no way to sugar coat it.
Juan Stewart
That's fair. Wish they had similar digital refund options to steam though. Means I wouldn't completely regret SF0

So have home consoles to. Wii U sold around 10 millions and XONE sold around 20 millions compared to 100 million Wii and 80 million X360. The only home console that is doing well is PS4 but that doesn't mean it will hit 100 miliion sold to like PS1 and PS2.
Robert Sullivan
This is bullshit. Another "no multiplat" console, fucking shit
Since 2011 it's clear that Nintendo's strong suite is handheld gaming.
This is the smartest move they could have made, next to making some console to compete with sony/microsoft.
Jackson Hall
Motion controls like the vive has are actually a problem for me
At least MS Hololens gives you the ability to make your own gestures
Hudson Foster
But this is literally a handheld with TV functionality, like Gameboy Player or PSTV. This is no hybrid, nintendo actually isn't making a home console this gen.
THIS IS LITERALLY THE BEST OUTCOME POSSIBLE FOR THE NX. I WAS EXPECTING A SHITTY GIMMICK AND I GOT A POWERFUL GAMEBOY ADVANCE WITH TV OUT. CANT BE BETTER THAN THIS. LITERALLY.

Fucking bullshit
"Last year we also started a project to integrate the architecture for our future platforms," said Iwata.
>"What we mean by integrating platforms is not integrating handhelds devices and home consoles to make only one machine. What we are aiming at is to integrate the architecture to form a common basis for software development so that we can make software assets more transferrable, and operating systems and their build-in applications more portable, regardless of form factor or performance of each platform."
>Iwata's comments suggest that Nintendo hopes to be able to build the same games for both its next-generation home console and handheld device.
>"They will also work to avoid software line-up shortages or software development delays which tend to happen just after the launch of new hardware," Iwata added.
>"Some time ago it was technologically impossible to have the same architecture for handheld devices and home consoles and what we did was therefore reasonable."
Kayden Reyes
How does Nintendo not realize that the majority of normies care most about graphics than anything else? If I ever wanna show my dad a game I think he might like, the first thing he says is: >"Oh, but this game doesn't have great graphics, does it?" They're fucking up hard.
Grayson Adams

Sounds like 2 controllers attach to the screen, and can be pulled off. So like the Wii U Gamepad, but anything not the screen is a controller.

Benjamin Robinson
No. The explosion was only beginning then.
John Lee
Considering there is only one title we didnt mention from the main line, you might be actually retarded.

Japan was still primarily on flip phones at that point AFAIK, which can't run much in the way of games. They've only since gradually moved to smart phones.

Oh no, the sonygger is angry because SMT went back to Nintendo after a single Playstation game which is largely considered the black sheep of the franchise (no 2d sprites, no alignments).
The new Nintendo SMT games are much better than Nocturne.
Adrian Clark
As long as they port Bayo2 and Xenoblade X to it I'll be fine with it
Jace Gomez
You are retarded if you actually believe this. Just because you didn't have a smart phone in 2011 doesn't mean most people didn't. By 2011 there was already like 4 or 5 models of iphones.
Gabriel Kelly
Man, I wonder if I was this into self-humiliation back when I was only able to afford one console
