Easily but it's not his fault.

>Game has softcore porn on the cover
No thank you

>but it's not his fault.
What's the story here?

There's even *gasp* NIPPLES in the game

Who? Suda 51's?

It ceased to be his game the moment EA got their hands on it and threw all his original ideas out the window.

>What's the story here?
Hint: look at the bottom-right hand corner of the box.

I like it

Same, I like games that give you a floating talking skull friend

>Who? Suda 51's?
Yes. I've played all of his games that are in english but this one felt shitty to me. I was wondering if it was just me.

Fucking figures

It's definitely his most disappointing game. That's largely in part due to all the talent surrounding it. But worst? That's a bit of a stretch.

It lacks pretty much everything that makes his games interesting imo. The writing is too reliant on innuendo and the characters never have the same repartee that characters in his other games do. It's also somehow really repetitive and derivative which is probably EAs fault as well.

I've never played Lolipop Chainsaw so I can't comment on that.

I think worst is pretty fair. What other really uninteresting games has he made?

Nothing ground breaking in gameplay or story, but damn was it a fun, over the top grindhouse esque adventure.

This. It's mostly just a let down because Shinji Mikami's involvement suggested it should have been WAY better than it turned out.

Typical Suda jank aside, it's still a damn fun game with a pretty enjoyable (immature, but fuck it) sense of humor. His worst game is most likely one of the ones nobody on this board has played.

>Sounds like a real DICK-tator.

Its so juvenile its charming.

Despite being a bit rough round the edges its really underrated imo, great OST too.

No, that would be pic related.

I really enjoyed the romp, flawed as it was. Managed to combine camp fun with actually quite anxious moments, all the while with a neat horror veneer.

Kind of reminds me of the original DMC, but shooter instead of action.

It's not really a Suda 51 game imo desu. He just co-wrote the script

He barely even works on the games anymore it's just his name on the box

Yeah I agree. It's as much a Suda game as True Romance is a Tarantino movie.

Easily his best. This was probably my favorite game of last gen

Easily his best. This was probably my favorite game of last gen

I think all Suda games are terrible, maybe No More Heroes is the least worse of them. Shit graphics, boring gameplay. At least the story and characters are cool, but at this point I would stick to a Platinum game.

That's not Lollipop Chainsaw

Lollipop chainsaw is better DESU.

Hey, I just finished this not too long ago. It's the only Suda 51 game I've played, so take from that what you will.

As far as the game mechanics went, it seemed like a pretty fun and solid RE4 clone. Having just played The Evil Within right before, I felt a little underwhelmed by the weapon variety and simplicity of the combat systems, but I liked the creativity of the enemy designs and thought the majority of the bosses were interesting enough. A little more depth would have given this game a ton more appeal.

As a fan of shmups in general, the sidescrolling stages were appalling. There were also a few other times the game would just grind to a halt, particularly at the "big boner" turret section, and a really tedious maze in the last part of the game. Level design also felt very basic, with only a few token secrets for upgrade gems. I would have liked a few more levels like the rotating blocks one, and less straightforward key hunts.

Art direction and music are great. While the game isn't technically impressive, it has a lot of style and the art direction also works really well with the gameplay. I loved how weird hell was, and the corny and ghoulish grindhouse feeling it had. It really comes across like the worst peyote and tequilla fueled fever dream you'll ever have.

I think the biggest hangup I have with the game is the writing -- I don't get the impression that anyone knew what to do with Paula, and even with the foreshadowing, the ending scenes with her come across as extremely forced and bad. Garcia and Johnson are great characters to go on this roadtrip with though, and play well as the muscle & brains combo. Their humor is just silly and juvenile yet self aware enough to work. I'm fond of the little touches like Garcia's reading skills or Johnson's deadpan delivery of completely insane questions. The backstory on all the main bosses was great, and I wished there was a little more of that, though it didn't quite feel connected to the actual bosses.

The main villain was very underutilized, basically he existed to be an asshole but I wanted there to be something more than just some mustache twirling here and there. The whole game succeeds as a super gross and schlocky Robert Rodriguez inspired ride, and while there are some pretty big weaknesses, its fun being with the two main characters through the whole game.

All in all, I had a good time with the game. It has some weak parts, some bad parts and absolutely zero replay value, but I'm still pretty satisfied with going back and clearing the game from my backlog. I don't know how it compares to the rest of Suda 51's games but I can definitely say I enjoyed it.

It's cool you guys like it or whatever but you should really play Killer 7 and No More Heroes.

I beat NMH like 3 times and had a blast with it. How is Killer 7? I watched some gameplay before and it looked awkward as fuck.

I thought Suda stepped aside and mikami directed this one? or was it the other way around

The demo for Black Knight Sword says otherwise.

LETS TAKE THIS POLE FOR A STROLL

Killer 7 is his best and I fucking love No More Heroes.

The controls are weird. It's the most unique gameplay (along with everything else) he's ever been allowed to have. It takes getting used to but I found I liked it a lot about 1/3 thru the game.

Nope. Mikami was a producer.

It's as awkward as it looks.

It's an interesting experience if you haven't been spoiled but as a game it's weak.

this game is complete shit

Yes. But it's interesting shit. Unlike SotD which is bland shit.

I remember reading that the game was going to be weaponless and only a torch for the MC, but EA intervened and it became the RE4 clone we have.

Is this his best game?

I enjoyed it more than lollipop chainsaw honestly

Garcia reading the books is borderline brillant (look up the crow book on YT if you haven't played the game), but the rest of the game is just "ok".

Bonus points for having a stage where you are literally running around on a naked giantess (yes this actually happens - no censoring here).

No, it's comonig. I don't know what he is thinking. Turning Lilly Bergamo into... this.

Thanks user, gonna pick it up later

Is that really multiplayer only? Either way I have no hopes for it.

What... is this picture?

1. Killer 7
2. No more heroes
3. Killer is dead
4. No more heroes 2
5. Shadows of the dammed
6. Lollipop chainsaw

This is proof he's a hack

NO

this is accurate

Is this title supposed to be meta?

The only decent thing about Lollipop Chainsaw was the dialogue and Suda didn't even have anything to do with that, it was fucking James Gunn.

What are essential Suda51 games and why? Heard much of him, but never played anything.

>tfw i beat lollipop chainsaw like 3 times last year and i cant remember anything about it

Before you ask, yes, it's filled with their shit.

See

>essential
Killer 7

Rest are if you want to. Personally I liked Killer is Dead and No More Heroes but whatever.

It'll come rushing back to you if you play it again. It's like riding a bike.

To be fair, he's never actually made a good game to begin with.

Your family are zombie hunters or something and your boyfriend gets bit so you chop his head off to save him and you carry his head around on your hip

YOU FUCKING TAKE THAT BACK

Why are NMH und K7 good again? Gameplay is absolute shit in both of them. NMH2 and KiD at least made a game somewhat fun to play.
Can't believe it. What's a story?

Loved killer 7, no more heroes, and killer is dead.

The rest I still found enjoyable for the most part but weren't as good

Truth hurts.

You could play as female fucking Ash.

Yeah if you pre ordered

>No More Heroes and No More Heroes 2 are not tied

Come on now...

>People hating on Shadows of the Damned and going as far as to call it Suda51's worst game
>when Lollipop fucking Chainsaw exists a game that physically hurts to play
Triggered. You are all actual plebs, Shadows of the Damned is criminally underrated. I fucking hate this board.

Right but I think it's undeniable that Suda's games mellowed right the fuck out after Killer 7, so that's usually the one you want to start with.

It does suck that you either upgrade the machinegun or you're right proper fucked for the final boss in SotD.

>sees thread has more than 50 replies
>"heh...guess it's time to set these kids straight..."

shadows
>shit boss fights
>shit darkness mechanic
>shit sidescrolling levels

lollipop chainsaw
>shit voice acting
>shit boss fights
>shit combat
>shit gimmicks

neither of them are good

They're both hot dog shit. I can't really take you seriously if you think it's anything other than mediocre.

Shadows of the Damned isn't a perfect game and has its faults but Lollipop Chainsaw is hot garbage. Not a single redeeming factor, i cannot fathom how ANYONE would see it as anything but his worst game by a fucking mile.

So can someone tell me wtf was going on in Killer is Dead?

I liked the game but never understood the story

I didn't like it as much stylistically so I never bothered to figure out what the story was about.

I'm pretty sure there's story elements that just aren't in the game.

>i cannot fathom how ANYONE would see it as anything but his worst game by a fucking mile

SOTD is worse IMO because you can't make the gun aim as slow as I'd like. A game based around shooting and you can't even adjust the aiming speed. It goes from way too fucking fast to kinda fast. Fucking stupid.

That was more of a James Gunn game with Suda's markings

The story is that the main character doesn't care about the story and just wants to bang shallow broads.

Eventually his weird benefactor strongarms him into caring about the story, but by then you're left dazed and confused because you coasted through the whole thing.

I actually liked it, but I guess the final product wasn't really what they wanted to make, right?
I beat Shadows of the Damned a couple times and beat it twice, but Killer is Dead fucking sucked.
I only beat a couple levels and holy shit it's terrible.
Fighting that Alice monster boss showed me how terrible the fucking mechanics.
She climbs up the wall, you have to use your blood to shoot her down.
You used up your blood and now you can execute that special move on her.
But you need blood to do that move, which you used shooting her off the wall.
She gets back up, you fight her for more blood, she goes up the wall, and you use all the blood to get her back off the wall just so you can't do that special move on her cuz of no blood.
Rinse in repeat a few times to the point I quit the game and never touch it again.
It's fucking shallow and has shit mechanics.
Fuck Suda.

Shadows of the Damned is okay but kinda runs out of steam by the end, and all the attempts at breaking genre are either boring or frustrating.

The main characters are fun but even their banter starts to wind down by the end. The big bad guy never does anything interesting after the first cutscene.

It's not a great game but I enjoyed it enough to want to replay it later.
