Do you think that S3K is the best sanic game ever created? S3K is to the Sonic franchise what Super Metroid is to Metroid, and what Super Mario World is to the Mario franchise.
>Best story (because it's fucking minimal) - these games don't need dialogue for fucks sake
>Best platforming - some of the most vertical levels without it breaking the flow of the level like Sonic CD does
>Best fast - need I explain
>Best special zones - 14 courses for 14 emeralds, and tons of other random courses through blue sphere
>Best variety in 2D - S&T, either of them individually or Knuckles, 3 different shields and each cahracter has unique double jump thing
>14 Zones, 12 of them w/ 2 acts
>Best graphics and animations, and music (maybe tied w/ Sonic 2 & CD for music)
>Save feature with tons of files
>Different endings depending on character and emerald count
I see no reason most sonic games shouldn't take place here
Nathan Flores
It's been at least a year, this is one of my favorite games, I really need to revisit it.
Jose Fisher
I'm replaying it right now. It's easily the peak of the series as a whole. In addition to what you said, the pacing and level design are also excellent. It throws a new challenge at you one right after another, and while there are simpler "breather" segments the game never really STOPS, which is part of why the whole game feels so fast and exciting to play.
Camden Rogers
Sonic 3 and Knuckles were overrated garbage.
David Rodriguez
S& K is by far the best game. and Sonic 3 is better than the rest
SK > 3 > K > 2 > 1 > CD
Mason Martinez
Good thing this prepubescent fox built a Master Emerald tow cable into his jet-powered plane
Matthew Myers
>Do you think that S3K is the best sanic game ever created Eh, maybe. I like Sonic 2 just as much if not more. I hate Sonic 2's special stages, though.
Ian Jenkins
Funny you post this, I'm just playing it for the first time. I've dabbled in sonic 1 and I've beaten sonic 2 before. With that being said, I agree that sonic 3 is the best. The game play is the most refined. I haven't gotten that far in it and already prefer it to the other two
Joseph Fisher
About three weeks ago. Greatest game of all time really.

S3&K = CD > 1 >>> 2
Adrian James
inb4 Sonic Retro autists scream about the "canon".
Evan Martinez
I love Sonic 1 and put it up there with the best Sonic games of all time, but why is 2 so low my man? I know it was too easy but it's still a pretty good game.
Lucas Bell
2 > 1
Jack Torres
Sonic 2 was my first Sanic game, but Sonic 3&K (on PC) was the first one I owned. It's the best 2D Sonic because of Blue Spheres.
Jaxson Watson
>Looks like shit >Level design and overall quality goes down the toilet after Casino Night Zone >The endgame was rushed as fuck >Added the free momentum button but didn't balance it like CD did with the super-peel-out
John Jenkins
This post seems dead wrong, "Sonic Retro autists" would be the first ones begging for more Hyper Sonic. If anything it's the Adventuretards that would be against it.
Julian Rogers
the FUCKING barrel cockblocked me when I was a lad of 5. In retrospect it was the ultimate casual filter
Samuel Collins
But I like 2 more than 1
I win
Levi Lewis
1 is my favorite, but I can agree S3K is the best one. Loved the exploration and the power ups.
Dylan Lewis
At least once you learned how it worked, it never becomes a road block again.
Oliver Turner
god fucking forbid you were playing with tails, that little shit made it so frustrating sometimes
Colton Nelson
>mfw I tried in vain so many times to enter that fucking level select code at the title screen just to see what mysteries lied beyond the barrel
Dominic Turner
Do we really need the elemental shields back in Mania? I feel like they should be S3&K exclusive.
Dylan Martin
>1 is my favorite
You get a muscular black man thumbs up, because I see nothing but hate for the original these days and it's nice to see somebody give some love to it.
John Baker
No way, I've wanted the elemental shields back for years. You don't just throw out a great gameplay concept for the sake of having it be a single game's feature.
Cooper King
>tfw you got to ice cap zone for the first time
few vidya victories tasted so sweet
Joseph Morgan
But the water shield is still shit.
Jeremiah Evans
There were still some cool zones after Casino Night. Metropolis Zone, Oil Ocean and Mystic Cave were pretty fun. The end game was a little bit sparse but then so was Sonic 1's. Act 3 was just a rehash of Labyrinth, and "Final Zone" was literally just one boss. Doesn't make it bad though, they were still fun as fuck.
As for the spin-dash, keep in mind that this also appeared in Sonic 3 and Knuckles, it wasn't just present in Sonic 2. That being said I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing, because it only goes a certain distance and you have to constantly stop to use it. Not to mention the fact that you can still collide into certain enemies that push you back. And let's not forget the dash panels in most Sonic games, which give you free momentum as well, not to mention the springs.
There are plenty of elements at play which give you free momentum, and you need only discover them.
Lucas Nguyen
Yeah, for me 1 is on the same level as Sonic 3 and Knuckles. I think they both bring something unique to the table. One is heavy on exploration and the other is heavy on platforming.
Cameron Carter
>Metropolis Zone >Fun
Elijah Miller
The spindash was slightly nerfed in S3, the other things you mention are part of the level design, not your own on-demand abilities. Do you even know what you are talking about?
>Looks like shit Not really. I like the look of the original game and CD more, but I still like the look of Sonic 2 over Sonic 3&K for the most part. >Level design and overall quality goes down the toilet after Casino Night Zone Nope. Metropolis involves some tedium, but the rest are all pretty good. Mystic Cave in particular is one of my favorite levels in the series.
Kayden Carter
Does this look good? Is this good level design huh?
Eli Ward
I actually forgot about it. It's a bit on the weak side, though it's also fairly short. I think Wing Fortress's shittiness is more egregious.
I stand by the gist of my statement though.
Angel Flores
As an Yuro kid who had a fucking Saturn and played a shit ton of games on it, Sonic Jam was fucking amazing because of having the big 3 classics and having special bonuses. 3&K was by far my favourite of them all, in terms of aesthetic design overall, music and gameplay. The last levels (Sky Fortress, Death Egg and Doomsday Zone) where preety fucking top notch. I allways found Death Egg has the pinacle of gameplay challenge for GOIN FAST, at least as a kid.
>Garbage at special zones in Sonic 1 >Decent at special zones in Sonic 2 but they still are difficult to me >Able to speedrun S3&K and get all emeralds in like an hour or so at my peak ability.
What gives?
Jose Kelly
I hate that autoscrolling bullshit Sonic 1 SMS had an autoscroller level Sonic &K's lava reef zone had an autoscroller boss
just doesn't belong
Isaac Phillips
Sonic 3 special zones are the easiest for sure
Samuel Clark
Best way to play S3&K on an emulator?
Nathaniel Ortiz
Sonic 3 Complete at 3840x480 on a CRT monitor

3&K = CD > 1 > 2
Benjamin King
I was asking for a preferred emulator
Ryder Phillips
yes and world sucks smb 3 is better
Kayden Anderson
Was anyone else retarded as a little kid and thought that when playing as Knuckles in the special stages you had to get the red spheres?
Why does this game get so much hate? It's one of my favourite Sonic games. Even if its the worst of the mainline classic games, it isn't by much. I would go so far as to say it's almost as good as Sonic 1 (S3&K>CD>2>1>Chaotix). Personally I absolutely LOVE to see it get the Sonic CD Taxman treatment (although S3&K is certainly more deserving)
Anyone else love it as much as I do? I just think the music is amazing and the gameplay is so much fun, although requires a bit of learning and getting used to.
Alexander Collins
2 = 3&K > 1 > CD
Mason Collins
agreed
Logan Brooks
Technically not an emulator but the Steam version is worth getting (when it's on sale, of course). There are some cool options that imitate playing on an old TV.
Gabriel Lee
forgot the fucking image
Nicholas Murphy
Not even funny
Ethan Jackson
why the fuck am I connected to the BEE JESUS
Jaxon Williams
lol Charmy in KC is actually the most broken, OP character in any classic sonic game (you could just spam his fly boost ability with literally no drawback) but that was one of the best awesome series episodes
William James
2 will always be my favourite. Followed by S&K
Camden Thomas
What's wrong with it? I've never cared much for CD. I think it's a good game, but it doesn't do all that much for me compared to the rest.
Logan Price
>I have no nostalgia for it so it shouldn't be high kys
