I'm sure you do

Yes,it was when I was suffering from a mental disorder

Now that I'm cured, turns out it's unpolished garbage

Probably NG+ when I realized exactly how everything connected.

Around the point where i beat Taurus Demon after wiping in the burg learning to play for hours.

this can't be happening

It is,someone here actually has their wits about them

I would like to say that it was taking the elevator down from the parish and ending up in firelink shrine but the truth is that it was probably somewhere in blightown that i finally realized how huge and interconnected the world was.

Bloodborne is better

>Helmet opening
>Instantly think of a Canadian

Casualized shit. Play King's Field or bust.

As soon as I started playing Dark Souls 2.

Its one of those things you can quantify as better but, in the end it really doesnt matter.

That moment the player has that sticks with them be it level design or getting good or its form of story telling means the players first experience most likely is their favourite

I didn't realize it while playing it but afterwards, years later when I couldn't find another game that could give me a similar feeling.

It never happened, but i quickly realized it was overrated trash.

Yea, never.

DaS and BB are literally GOAT minus a few graphical hiccups and framerate issues.

DeS and 3 fags get fucked.

I wish it was, but is not sadly.

Fuck Chalice Dungeons

das>das3>bb>des>das2

Back to fucking reddit with your car crash surviving super human.

>playing game for first time
>invaded by XxSoul_EaterxX
>he was wearing what I later learned to be darkwraith armor, lobbing fireballs and slow-walking
>shit pants and roll off bridge

Finally reaching Kiln of the First Flame and realizing my 90 hour journey was coming to an end.

also this was really neat

Man I struggled in blight town so much. Took me so fucking long to get through it. I kept dying, making some progress, dying, being unable to even reach the spot I was at before to retrieve my souls

I finally made it to the bonfire at the bottom of blighttown. Killed Mildred on my first try and went to fight quelag with her. Really the only boss I struggled with at the time, I beat Capra on my second ttype and gaping dragon was real easy. I just couldn't beat quelag. I used up all my humanity summoning mildred and went back to the sewers to farm more
Eventually I beat her but I knew I still had to get back to firelink. After another arduous journey getting back, I kind of just stopped for a second a reflected on my journey. That's when I knew I probably just had some of the most fun of my life.
Anor londo was even better

DS1 was my first but Bloodborne dethroned it. Bloodborne doesn't fall apart halfway through instead it falls apart if you try its optional side area. Only autistic trophy fags care about that though.

I will say the SRRC random co-op is one of the best mechanics in the series though. So its a toss up for me whether I hate chalice dungeons.

>tfw beating Ornstein and Smough solo

I still haven't beaten the game at all. I'm stuck on the Bell Gargoyles, I don't know how to do the ghosts, and I can't even remember the other shit. I'm terrible at the game and don't appreciate it fully yet.
But:

>running around the forest after being stuck in a castle/ruins/cave setting.
>suddenly there's a full moon by a nice fire
>turn around, a huge fucking Luna Moth in some ruins.
That was when I finally found the game comfy.
then
>being chased by bad guys, run through some fog.
>have to fight the fucking moth
that's when I realized it was a 10/10 game

after I saw that one video about how you can make a brand new character, roll through the catacombs, kill pinwheel, and end up with an upgraded fire scythe among some other goodies all within 15 minutes of making said character. you could also get to new londo, the valley of drakes, and darkroot basin right at the start as well as blighttown, the great hollow, ash lake, demon ruins, and lost izalith just by picking the master key as your starting item. the world was so fucking open and there were minimal progression checks compared to the rest of the series.

there wasn't anything as cool as that in dark souls 2 because there were too many things preventing you from exploring the world freely like those dumb fragrant branches. same goes for bloodborne and dark souls 3 somewhat but killing the bitch that gives you the banner and fighting the dancer to get to lothric castle early is kind of cool.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that dark souls 1 is the least linear and most open of the soulsborne games.

>Slow-walking
>doing the low level NPC dickwraith build with any spell other than Firestorm
What a pleb he must've been. Everyone knows ya' gotta use Firestorm. It's great, you can tell the actual new players apart because they almost always shit themselves and immediately stop trying to fight you and hightail it out of there when they see it.

I never had that feeling, I wasn't even hyped for the game because Sup Forums ruined my comfy Demons Souls threads.

Titty monster and Qualaag's sister's dialogue were the only highlights in the game. The rest was just rehashed Demons Souls but with less love put in it.

Min/max lightning zwei and avelyn made for some good 'pvp' though.

When I got to Firelink Shrine and looked at the aqueduct and just knew.

gaping dragon intro.

this guy gets it

When the credits began.

To this day I refuse to summon sundude for them. I'll die 50 times if I have to, but I'll beat them on my own.

When I started invading Sen's with dragonslayer greatbow, force and emit force.

Solaire is cool and all but the Knight of Catarina is the best.

i feel like im the only one who enjoyed the chalice dungeons. i liked the challenge. Also they were pretty spooky

Why do sonyponies always have to ruin these threads? We get it, you're proud of ps4 having 1 good exlclusive. Bloodborne is an ok game but considering it has WAY less content, waepons, armor sets, and everything else than EVERY OTHER GAME in the series that came before it, its a huge disappointment.

Not to mention those 40 second load times at launch that no amount of patching will ever wipe from peoples memories as the game is so short most people beat it before then.

I'm an Idort and I like bb more

Kys and get of Sup Forums for a little bit

...

>sonyponies

Why do dsfags think quanity > quality and blah

I can't do it sorry user. Play both of them back to back and try to view them objectively. Dark souls is an unfinished game. Plain and simple.

Because the thread started with a bold and hyperbolic statement

I've played all the games can still say BB is the pinnacle of the series

Sounds like lots of fun.
I really wish mp had lots of people again.
Maybe with a remaster someday.

pic related is when I fell in love with Souls

HA HAHAHA HA

I think this happened to many of us right here.

I did the other worlds before 1-2 so he was a pissbaby compared to me. I saw the depths of hell before him.

Still cool though. I wish other devs would make bosses like this, devs of games with actually good combat so the art isn't wasted.

Muh nigga...You are totally right...except i am a HO HOHOHO HO! Guy myself

post yfw vagrant for the first time

ash lake

Adding onto this
watching the buffalo herd in the horizon in west Elizabeth in RDR

...

When I opened the ladder shortcut under the bridge. Genius level design.

...

The ending when I parried Gwyn to death and felt a little empty inside like a cheap motherfucker. I had beaten the whole game and I thought about it as the credits rolled. I decided it was the GOAT.

>Stuck on gargs

Upgrade your weapon
Summon Solaire

Bloodborne is a finished game with a mediocre chalice dungeon idea.

Dark Souls is an unfinished game with a lot of cool/bad ideas.

I do. It was at the very end of the game when I fought Gwyn for the first time. The sense of progression and closure you get from that one final effort to beat him is amazing. It's just so satisfying to step outside of the arena - or link the fire if you want to - watch the last cut scene and then enjoy another great song from the ost.
When it first happened I just sat there in my chair and was blown away by how good the game was. Only later did I notice the worsening in pacing after you get the lord vessel. But still, the mysterious world with its odd characters is just wonderful thing to experience.

>Implying BB is a finished game when chalice dungeons exist

Every souls game is unfinished cocksucker except for Demon Souls

how did someone already make a pepe out of this??

Right here.

It's not, but for me, that thought crossed my mind after having done both bells of awakening and understood the game's structure.

Even Demon's is unfinished
>tfw we will never see the giants of the north

it was on NG+5 and i was about to go kill the 4 kids.

i went behind that corner to kill the dark wraith and get 1 shot by its photon cannon, it was hiding near the betrice summon sign.

It's too flawed in some areas for me to consider it the perfect game.
I think Bloodborne is the first time they managed to actually finish their game before releasing it. Though it took a few patches to get fully polished.

wheni remembered that demons souls was the best game ever.

>out of this
What did i miss?

Around the time I "fought" Bed of Chaos.

I realized it was one of my favourite games when i figured out that i could finish it in one sitting.

It's fun as fucfk.

>implying they aren't in dark souls 2

i've had enough fucking giants, thank you very much i don't need anymore giants in a god damn souls game. i could use more vampires.

>Why do sonyponies always have to ruin these threads?
You realise that Sony was the original fanbase of this series, right?
I'm not saying it means anything, but to pretend like Dark Souls has never had a Sony fanbase is to be in serious denial.

DaS2 giants were a fucking disappointment

Dark Souls is a great game but I've played it so much that I realize it's also a shit game.

Absolutely atrocious game balance. At least 50% of the game is slapped together garbage. A ton of the systems are fundamentally broken or just don't work right. Garbage new player experience.

People also go "its hard but fair" but really thats bullshit. The amount of gotcha moments in Dark Souls 1 is insane.

I've put like 1000+ hours into it.

OBJECTIVE FACT
DaS1 = Bloodborne > DeS > DaS3 > DaS2
MY OPINION MAN
>Bloodborne >DaS1 > DeS >DaS3 > DaS2

>running through the game as naked bois
>enter painted world and decide to have a fap to my MC
>get invaded mid fap
>whoop the invader somehow
>back to my fap

AoTA=>TOH>DaS1>SoTFS=DeS>>BB>>DaS3>DaS2

>quantity over quality
ps4 is a piece of shit that is only good for bloodborne
but you're retarded and clearly haven't played bloodborne and don't deserve an opinion on it

Dark Souls 2 ruined the giants.
Glad they went back to the old style giants for 3. I mean, hell, Yhorm had a massively disappointing fight, and yet he still managed to be way more interesting than any of the giants in 2.

The anor londo reveal, then ash lake
Such cool areas. I do like bb more though

Is AoTA really that good? as good as old hunters?
been playing the series since DaS2 and recently went back to try out DaS1
i'm not quite there yet though

Yeah. When I reached big and tall, and realised my character was really poorly built. I restarted, now actually understanding what I was doing, and realised I fucking loved this game. Does that prove the game is trial and error, or just that I'm stupid?

played it for the first time a few months ago. probably what a few other people said, how interconnected the world is. it was a mixture between taking the elevator back down to firelink shrine and finding the path from the chapel to Havel. It was then that i realized this game was actually beautifully made, as well as very fun and challenging.

This was also around the time where i realized that this game is the equivalent of a 3d zelda if they made them at all like the 2d zeldas. It's an exploration game with rewarding loot/experiences that causes you to forge your way through paths rather than simply taking them

yeah but im biased, loved it a lot. ill never play another in the series unless i get a ps4 and BB. my friend had 3, and while it got me into the series, im confident the original is the best (just knowing how the others arent continuous worlds)

I think Old Hunters is definitely the peak of the DLC in this series, and I don't know if they'll be able to top it.
Artorias was good, but Old Hunters is just better.

>make fat female
>put only the hollow thief top
>walk slowly
>fap furiously
>go back to playing

>Go forth, Garl vinland.
>May you be unharmed...

Like I said in my earlier post, it has a really shitty new player experience.

Dark Souls builds really fall into 2 categories for min/maxing.

You go non-scaling which is minimum requirements for weapons, then a non-scaling path (commonly Chaos or Lightning because everything is weak to fire or lightning, but Raw also works in a pinch), Then dump the rest of your stats into HP and Endurance.

The other is you just choose a scaling stat, and either go no infusion, or the appropriate one (crushing for strength, one for dex, etc) then dump points into your scaling stat for damage.

Thats every Dark Souls, Demon's Souls, and even bloodborne (although Bloodborne has its own nuances, and non-scaling is impossible) in a nutshell. Magic is just taking the magic stats and using stuff that buffs your weapons.

Im in charge here!

the idea was amazing, the execution was horrid

I don't know if any game will build up to an area quite as well and pay off as much as the first time you view Anor Londo.

So Sup Forums what was your most memorable DS1 playthrough?

Mine was roleplaying as a Paladin while using Astoria's straight sword from start to finish with only protection and healing miracles
It's more fun helping people fight bosses than invading people imo

I'm glad someone made this thread.
I was doing a Zweihander run when this motherfucker put a stop to that. I can't get one swing off without this faggot pushing my shit in.
What's a good fast one-handed weapon that can do decent damage against him?

Git gud. I managed to beat him with Black Knight Halberd

You do not want to be using a 1handed sword in dark souls.

Dark Souls heavily favors big ass 2 handers.

Just keep fighting him and learn when you can get a swing off.

Astoria's Straight Sword

bow only was fun
also i made a knight that is really intelligent but can't cas sorceries, so he uses a magic sword and enchanted crossbow.
fav character to this day, the roleplaying aspect of it made it awesome.
don't stay too close, don't stay too far.
like mid distance, bait his attacks from that distance
ez

>INT Knight
That actually sounds pretty dam fun

when Sup Forums told me it was

demon's souls is better

Ash Lake

I don't, because it never happened. The best game ever wouldn't have the worst boss ever in it.

>accepting our opinions as facts
don't do this
