Create roland in video game form

>create roland in video game form
>call him mcree

why is this allowed?

of course you retarded faggots have shit taste in both literature and video games.

book's are for gay's

>literature
King writes pageturners at best.

Isn't mcree from some really old arcade game?
Is mcree missing the appropriate fingers? Isn't that picture of Roland inspired by Clint Eastwood Westerns?

>Create Viggo in video game form
>Call him Mcree

why are you allowed?

Roland is literally just Clint Eastwood though

I'm assuming this is a /lit/ thing trying to copy the Sup Forums scale of cinema.

Don't do that.

i dont know
no he isn't but its a minor detail
i have no idea, i pulled it from the wiki

clint doesnt have shit on roland

>this cowboy stereotype stole aspects of THIS cowboy stereotype!

They're like twins!

You're saying a real life actor might not be as hardcore as a fictional gunfighter with a destiny so important he manhandled the god of his own universe? Color me surprised.

There's only one Roland Deschain

this

i still dont know how i feel about this. i want so badly for it to be good but i know there is very little hope.

>Roland
How can McCree be Roland?
Roland is black

Is The Dark Tower good?

Hey! Stranger! You gotta help. It's a thread full of idiots, and we need your help!

>people will check out the book after seeing the show only to wonder why Roland is white

yes

I was memeing by posting it, but honestly it doesn't really bother me. At least King isn't pulling a Rowling by saying "Roland's race was never mentioned in the book :^)" as far as I know, he just said Idris is a good actor and he doesn't give a shit. And that's true. Only issue I could see with it is if they've got the black chick being all death to whitey like in the books. They could work around it/change it though.

I mostly don't give a shit about Dark Tower. Worst goddamn King I ever read and I went through the whole goddamn series I am so fucking angry.

Certainly. It has its up and downs, but it's definitely worth sticking with for every book. Just remember: Ka is a wheel.

God no. It has good parts and it's fun because you can connect all his other books to it with your imagination, but it was a big disappointment after I read it. Read basically anything else he's done instead.

I'm sure the dude will do a good job, but I just don't understand why there's gotta be a black dude playing a white character. Is it for diversity?

King explicitly said he wanted to make a western epic in the vein of Good, Bad and the Ugly. He LITERALLY wrote Roland to be Clint.

No, King just really likes Elba as an actor, that's all there is too it.

Fair enough, I guess. His series, his call. Just weird to me.

Roland's black though. McRee is Clint Eastwood.

roland is based off another character called roland from the poem "Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came" from 1855

i too enjoy Idris Elba

McCree isn't black though. ;_;7

It starts off interesting with mysterious settings paired with really cool concepts and characters but as it goes on it gets worse. Self inserts will never be ok.

Could be, but he's also a good actor and his face (Apart from being black) and mannerisms would work well for Roland.

This is also just talking about it in a void. We don't know yet how much (If anything) else about it will be changed.

>roland.

looks way more like Blondie.

But Roland is black

I thought it was cyber John Marston at first.

WELL FUCK YOU TEXAS AND FUCK YOUR LONE STAR BEER.

WHOA A COWBOY KIND OF LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER COWBOY NO WAY DUDE WTF I HATE BLIZZ NOW

It's clearly an homage to the titular star of Mad Dog McCree, which is a much finer game you varmints!

cans.wav intensifies

It's going to throw off the drawing part of the story, at the least.

Detta's screaming racial epithets at the whitebread honkey mofos won't make any sense if the guy doing the honkey voodoo bullshit is a brother.

Funny enough I want Randall flag to be Samuel Jackson and a clever director could implicate that every movie he's ever apeared in is simply him hopping worlds

>nick fury is randall flagg

I don't know why I like this idea, but it amuses me.

>read the first book
>pretty good
>read the next two
>really good
>read the next three
>not as good but still ok
>read the last book

What the actual fuck. Actual spoilers ahead so be wary
>King somehow writes in Deus Ex Machina's despite only being the voice of Gan
>New villain gets introduced and totally makes the old badass villain look like a jobber by eating him
>New villain gets killed like a punk bitch after showing crazy powers
>Big Bad who is hyped up for nearly the whole series just lobs grenades and gets killed by a character introduced in THE SECOND LAST ACT OF A SEVEN BOOK SERIES

And this is coming from someone who liked the tweest at the very end.

>create roland in video game form
>call him R'zonand
why is this allowed?

is this from fucking mad dog

That movie was better than it had any right to be.

Who was Bango Skank?

An Easter egg.

>tfw King included the guy that almost ran him over just to shit on him

>there will never be a Dark Tower videogame set before the fall of Gilead

Seemed comfy.

An anagram for Roland Deschain is Arachnid Eld Son.

>it's a 'villain is hyped up and dies like a bitch' episode

That's fucking incredible. Bravo Mistwalker.

I actually didn't have a problem with any of this. Flagg died because he bit off more than he could chew and thought he could outdick the son of the two strongest powers that are currently active in their world. Mordred died because for all his powers he was impatient, inexperienced and he lacked the supplies, plus his powers were still largely undeveloped. I do agree with the drawing thing, but then again, he didn't kill the King. Just imprisoned him/made him harmless. Although I did like the fact that the Crimson King was just an insane old man and not what he was cracked up to be at all, just like with everything in their wall. Like the beams being brought down by a bunch of drooling retards living in a concentration camp and not machinations of horrific otherworldly creatures lurking beyond the veil of reality. The disparity between the legend and the truth. Arthur of Eld himself probably too wasn't what he was cracked up to be. Probably an asshole that fucked every hole he could get his hands on.

Elba is a fantastic actor. Skin color aside, he's got the right presence and demeanor to be Roland.

normally I hate stupid ideas like this but I enjoy this one for some reason

CK is literally an autistic Pepe REEEEEEing at normies.

King gets pretentious enough in his other stuff. Opening a Dark Tower book is just asking for it.

Wasn't Mordred also dying from eating that dead horse?

Is The Stand good?

It's Kings best book. If you like post apocalyptic stuff, read it

Neat. I bought it on kindle a few days ago because I heard Flagg was in it.
>tfw it's like a hundred billion fucking pages

Meh. Pet Semetary is King's greatest work. Read that if you haven't already.

As I'm not an avid reader, the girlfiend is currently reading The Stand, and she overall likes it, but says there are hard dips in quality here and there so far.
Says "It" is still her favourite, save the awful ending.

Holy shit those flashbacks

>It
>That time an international bestselling author got away with graphically depicting an orgy between elementary schoolers because only like five people actually read that far.

>you will never have an orgy with your friends in the sewers to ward off an evil clown demon from beyond the stars

I thought it was like 1200 at least.
It's really fucking good.
So is the movie adaptation.

books are literally the worst way of storytelling
you waste too much time reading descriptions of what's happening and it still doesn't give you exactly what the author meant because different people imagine things differently, and character deepness is butchered if you can't see their faces and hear their voices
also it's pathetic to see a bunch of filling "pretty" words, like saying "the canine full of rage opened his jaw and nailed his fangs against my skin" instead of "a dog bit me"

oh cool man, i've got a story i want to share, let me just make a movie or tv series by myself.

...

Shawshank Redemption is my personally favorite of Kings work

Clint Eastwood wrote it

still better graphics than today games.

>you waste too much time reading descriptions of what's happening and it still doesn't give you exactly what the author meant because different people imagine things differently
Welcome to the point. Movies leave very little room for imagination. Books are great for creative thought.
