Not really, but you should.

No.

human revolution is a prequel to Deus Ex. although you should play the original first, because there's a cool reference to the first game at the end of the credits in human revolution.

You really should

The original is much better. Grab GMDX 8.0 and play it.

How new are you that this is still a question for you?

Theres Deus Ex threads literally every day

There's references throughout the game if you read the emails. Missing Link particularly is packed full of references to Versalife, emails from the researchers to Bob Page urging him to move to nano-augs. Manderley interfering with the Sarif Investigation, stealing the Purity First corpse and putting it in the Police Morgue. Pretty cool stuff, can wait for Mankind Divided

All three Deus Ex games are worth playing.
Yes, even Invisible War.

>tfw bought the Steam AND the GOG version of the first Deus Ex
>they both run like shit on my toaster
Is it so wrong to expect a PC game to work without having to fuck with it?

Not really but you should play the first one regardless

Change render.

No but the original is the better game imo

(That's not to say HR is bad - on the contrary, it's really, really good - but the original is just fantastic)

No.
Tried it afterwards, but didn't get past Liberty Island. Maybe I'll give it anohter chance some day

Took three tries for me, then I pretty much beat in in two (long) sittings

have you tried running in compatibility mode?

I had the same problem with Half Life 2. Took me three tries to get into it, but after that I played the episodes and went and played the original Half Life and all the expansions.

You could play them chronologically.

That's how I did.

>do i have to

No you do not HAVE to its not like dx hr is going to refuse to run if you dont

i played HR but didn't play the original and i understood the story fine

If you play HR first those references become foreshadowing.

I think it works both ways.

you won't understand what's happening until you play deus ex though, so the impact won't be as strong. prequels may take place before the original but they're meant to be played afterwards.

Of course you won't know what's happening. That's how foreshadowing works. Clues on what's to come.

I think you should play HR first, otherwise you'll be really disappointed with how dumbed down HR is compared to the original.

DXHR is a prequel, so you'll only be missing out on the importance of some of the characters and the ending scene.

clues on what's to come in the game you're currently playing, not a completely different game that may take you days, weeks or months to get around to playing.

OpenGL runs fine with the exception of some screentearing. 3D9 or whatever it is doesn't have screentearing, but I don't see my reflection on the floor in the training part.
I'll look at these.
I should mention that I'm mostly a consolefag. I know a few things about PC, but some things are a mystery. What would happen if I ran it in compatibility mode?

You saying that no game has ever foreshadowed its sequel?

To be fair, HR sets up the first pretty nicely. Has all the major players, a lot of neat little nods that will basically set it up even better for when you play Deus Ex.

Not him but splinter cell trilogy was great at this, half of CT's plot started in SC1 and the other half was hinted at in Pandora

>What would happen if I ran it in compatibility mode?
Old games can run better in that mode.

Just play the original. Human Revolution is trash and should be skipped.

...

No, but you really should play The Legend of Zelda II: Adventure of Link before playing Deus Ex.

Ok, Sup Forums. I bought this two games in Summer Sale, but I haven't play they yet.

What should I expect?

This. Don't listen to the faggy Zelda fags that don't like change and eat up cash-in garbage like ALBW or the shitty Deus Ex fans that'll tell you that Zelda II isn't related to this thread.
