I want to get into world of warcraft

Should I even bother at this point or is it too late?

My knowledge of WoW is getting a warrior to level 10 about 6 years ago and having no clue what I was doing

same. I was always curious when it came out, but my home didn't have broadband, and I didn't have the money to buy the subscription. I kind of want to play it, but I dunno if it's passed its moment

you missed out on the pinnacle of what WoW was back in Wrath of the Lich king.

Currently, theres a content drought so there really isnt anything to do in the end game except prepare for the next expansion coming out in august. I'd hold off a while longer and see how Legion turns out before diving headfirst into a possible "buyers remorse"

>end game

uh i'll be starting fresh, so i'm likely thousands of hours away from the "end game"

I honestly wish that was true man, but the game is currently designed to get you to max level as soon as Possible so you can play Ion Hazzikostas' wild ride.

You've missed the actual experience that is WOW, if you really want to experience what made WOW the runaway sucess that millions of players played for a decade then play on a private server, there is a list on /vg/ but don't play with /vg/ they're cancerous.

It's definitely going stale, and well past its prime, but levelling can still be a fun experience. It's worth playing to level 20 for free just to see if the game is doing anything for you. If not, nothing lost.

It's going to be different this time!

It might be fun for someone who doesn't have a biased look on it due to playing it years ago, however I do think it is past its prime.
Just give it a shot.

It's going to be different this time!

It sure will! I for one can't wait for mythic+ so I can run the same 3 dungeons and one raid all expansion long!

How to spot someone who has no idea what he's saying.

I bought like 3 days ago for the very first time
Try out the first 20 levels for free
Then sub for 50% for the first month and try it
Its like 7.50 euros for the first month
Totally worth it

Retail is widely considered worthless and one thing is clear: it's completely removed from when WoW was "a thing". If you are interested in finding out what WoW craze was all about and how it influenced the medium (as well as playing a version of the game many consider superior), you have no choice but to take a look at one of the private servers.

Neo-WoW has rendered every component of the game besides "endgame" obsolete. I don't know how inefficient a new player might opt to play with 100% linear follow-the-arrow questing but it's clear 1-100 journey is going to be over very quickly and the game pushes you to the latest raid content very quickly (on faceroll difficulty setting).

You two realise that I'm completely serious with my post and I think that PvP will change for the better because of the talents.
The won't magically make PvP fun but they are definitely a step in the right direction.

It's well past its prime that's for sure, but the upcoming expansion is shaping up to be the best one in years. It's blizzard's last attempt to refloat the ship, and they'll probably start winding down the whole thing after it to focus on other stuff.

I say it's the last chance to enjoy a reasonably decent WoW before its demise. If you want to get into it, it's now or never really.

>but the upcoming expansion is shaping up to be the best one in years

how much is blizzard paying you?

Hey, just go play for free and find out. Anyone can play for free up to level 20.

Don't bother getting into it.
They changed a lot of the old zones so you won't be able to experience old WoW even if you purchased a subscription.

I'm actually saying that despite legion looking decent compared to the previous worthless expansions, the game is beyond redemption and on its last legs.

>pinacle
>Wrath of the shit king
okay wrath babies

>Complaining about Placeholders

Just end yourself, my man.

>a step in the right direction.
I would like to step on your balls while you scream like a girl.

Try Kronos 2. It's free and it's vanilla ;)

>i'm likely thousands of hours away from the "end game"
you're about a week or two away from end game
1-60 took longer than 1-100

From a raiding standpoint, the Pinnacle of WoW was Throne of Thunder - Siege of Orgrimmar.

>placeholders
>implying they won't just change the background graphic and call it a day
you're getting the second half of wod if you like it or not

Hey OP;
I played a lot back in Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King then took a pretty long break.
I started playing again around May and I have really enjoyed it.
If you have stuff to do everyday besides be on a computer you will take a decent amount of time to get to level cap.
I think it is worth playing to max level at least.

And that's with perfectly efficient play. The way old world was designed, you had opportunities to get lost in the world and explore. While an efficient 1-60 is 5 days /played, for a newbie it'd almost certainly by 10 days and possibly much more (approaching 20 days). Conversely, with 100% linear progression, follow-the-arrow questing, every point of interest visited during the railroaded zone progression etc, I'd hazard a guess there won't be much difference between a first-timer and a vet levelling in neo-WoW.

>UI was literally a placeholder they tacked on at first to work on zones
>Missions are useful only to get resources which are actually important to manage
>Resources let you upgrade certain aspects of the hall and player, such as Artifact Power income and the may number of Legendaries you can equip
>Classes literally have 8 Champions this time around, not 20
>Few missions actually even give gold, let alone huge amounts of it
>Order Halls have literally no connection to professions
>All that's in Order Halls are the Artifact Forge, Mission Board, a Vendor, and a Portal to Dalaran
>Blizz outright removed the spells that ported you to the Halls

Just do it man. End yourself.

Just wait until it releases man. I hear the same shit every pre expansion how they learned from their mistakes and actually put effort into it and then you get a selfie cam. But keep posting Khadgars

You'd realize the difference if you actually bothered to pay attention. Blizz has been doing Q&As every Thursday for weeks. Order Halls were one of the first ones, and the details set it way apart from Garrisons.

Not sure how the rest of the Expac will go after 7.0, but at least they learned from Garrisons.

Was looking waht the new class hall stuff will be like on youtube. On at least three different channels:
>Yeah people are saying the new class hall missions are like garrisons, but they are actually totally different
>I'll explain
>They work just like garrions missions

wtf

Missions are the only similar thing. Outside of that, Order Halls are just there to provide the Class's story through the expansion.

Is Warcraft, dare I say it, back?

You can always try playing on a private server, nostalrius died but there are still plenty of quality servers

The difference for me at least, is that the Order Hall missions are where it begins and ends.

I don't have to
>Walk through the mine
>Pick Herbs
>Collect from Alch Lab/Enchanting Lab/Savage Yard/Lumberyard/Trading Post
>Set up new orders at all of the above
>Go do Naval Yard

I can handle Order Hall missions being EXACTLY like Garrison missions (Even if they aren't) as long as the other shit doesn't apply. Luckily for us it look like we get a bunch of dailies/world quests instead which are slightly more bearable.

>3.54 mb

I want reddit to leave RIGHT NOW

Missions are gay and shouldn't exist.

You're gay and you shouldn't exist.

>defending garrison missions
They are so fucking bad that people have an add on do it for them. There is no reason they should be returning

I'm not defending Missions. I'm just insulting you.

>3rd world internet speeds

Go at it, you'll have fun for a month or two. That's what I do, I resub for major content patches and expansions, play for 2 months or so and wait for the next patch. That way I've never really encountered the "dead game, nothing to do" meme.

levelling to 100 alone and doing loremaster/explorer in every zone, and dungeonmaster for old expansions, is a massive undertaking.

The base game comes with a free month and costs like $12. At the very least levelling 1-100 will get you $12, just don't buy Legion unless you decide you like the game.

There's something really dumb about "Mind Quickness".

just call it quick thinking come on blizz

try the free trial, it goes up to level 20

Try the free trial until level 20.
Then try the Kronos private vanilla server until 20.

See which one you like better.

Don't buy Legion until you're at least Level 98.

Blizzcon is in November they might announce legacy Servers then which would have a huge storm of new and old players.

Well Warcraft was never a game for loners/solo players, so i would suggest joining a beginner friendly guild, its downtime (no active raid tier) so nothing to do but farm cosmetics and chat so you'll be sure to get plenty of help from others.

Don't take others advice of joining a "blizzlike private server vanilla/bc/wotlk" because the majority of people playing on those servers, A; have autism, B; Are Elitists despite playing outdated simple content, or C; They are just like you and were told to join because "vanilla/BC etc..." was the best "definitive" wow experience, and have let nostalgiafags persuade them.

Pretty much every class right now has atleast one spec that they can perform up to par with in organized PvP/Normal-HC content.
Just play what feels right and what you are comfortable with, being versatile with your class vastly outperforms someone with lackluster skill with a class that is deemed "OP".

Also, the free trial is great for testing out different classes.

Try to look for a "playmate" to get recruited (Recruit-A-Friend) by, you will most likely learn a lot from them in exchange you give them 300%Bonus Exp which you will both recieve with the prerequisite of being within 100yards of eachother.

The game up to legion is only 7£ or respective sum in $ which includes 30-day playtime.

Only do RAF if you are willing to skip alot (basically all) the world questing and interactive elements.

fuck this shit game play EVE.

>doing a bunch of quests and dungeons for achievement points
>relevant to most of the industry
Barely anybody actually collected all 151 pokemon because the real fun was PvPing and learning the game.

Leveling 15 characters through hours of having 1/20 of their abilities and talents isn't fun.

Sup Forums doesn't handle large file sizes well.
