On reboot you need to re-apply the hack from the live area of molecular shell. You'll need internet access every time, until a local hosted version is released.
Emulators are all a bit buggy right now. Expect broken sound, no working save states etc.

So far you can run PSP homebrew with VHBL. PSP piracy is restricted to 3.55 and below firmware for now, but it's likely you'll get an eCFW exploit for 3.60 soon.

If you want any of these PSP exploits, you need to have a PSP game on your Vita. It can be any game and in some cases it can even be a free demo. If you don't have one, you can use a PS3 to download one without udpating.
It works, and you can even install the whitelist hack to enable all Vita games.
It's purely userland.
I have two vitas, one I use for current firmware and another i used for the PSP/PS1 hacks on firmware 3.15

You're in a difficult spot then. On 3.52 you can use the email exploit to convert your PSP game into an eCFW bubble. You can also use HENkaku on 3.60 to inject the same files.
But on 3.55 you can't use either exploit, so someone with a hackable Vita needs to have access to your account so they can make a backup of the modified game with QCMA and restore it to your console.

If you're willing to share PSN details privately, then you can get someone else to make you an eCFW bubble which will work on your current firmware.
If you don't want to do that though, I advise you to wait and see if an eCFW exploit comes out for 3.60. You can always update to 3.60 at a later date, even if a new firmware comes out.
