I'm convinced I would love a mechanical keyboard. Have tried MX blue and brown but nothing else. What's your take?

my take is that you're a retard incapable of making his own decisions

here's what you do
go find a store that has mechanical keyboards on display
try them out
then buy one.

That was uncalled for and I totally tried some of them before making this threat. Not every shop have those elusive MX clear, green and shit like that

Mechanical keyboards are a meme

I love my reds, only cons is when you type its easy to barely press another key and have it input

Browns are great. Sufficiently annoying for others, but not as much force required as reds.

Just so you know green switches are just stiffer blues. Actually my mk has a green switch for the spacebar despite every other switch being blue

If you're not a typing autist you don't need rare switches like green or clear.

Black = Stiff, non clicky. Good for vidya
Red = Light, non clicky
Blue = light, clicky. Good for typing
Brown = A little stiffer, less clickier blue.

Tbh mechanical keyboards are a meme, you can type faster on a normal keyboard and multiple keypresses are easier.

If you've tried blues, whites are slightly stiffer with a softer click, greens are stiffer than that, but with the blue click.

Clears are just stiffer Browns, tactile greys are even stiffer.

Reds and browns feel the same in normal usage to me, i don't notice the bump unless I'm looking for it.

i brown lighter than blue. i have both and blue is really hard on my littlefinger

nice emacs setup, xD

nerds will get it lol, geek humor ... :3

*i thought

>stiff
>good for vidya

Buyers remorse?

>tfw nobody ever posts the version with lots of cawadooty covers instead of just the one.

Brown isn't clicky. It's bumpy, also much, much less noisy than blue.
Blue is so autistically noisy I love it. But a socially decent person wouldn't use it at work.

Ducky Shine 5 with Nature Whites. If not, either go full linear or full clicky. MX Brown and other tactile bump fags should just fucking off themselves.

Brown isnt a clicky switch. Its tactile but not clicky

has anyone ever tried the keymouse?

I have a gamepad for my left hand. but still need to swap from pad/mouse to the keyboard to type n shit. this right here seems like it would be the perfect tool, but they look kinda heavy to be used as a mouse and the side buttons look kinda small, shallow, and hard to press.

anyone got experience with these?

Shine 5 is a great board, wish it had a metal case, but the brushed plastic is an alright alternative.

I personally went with blues for that extra loud click.

Plebs

Tell me about Buckling Spring too.
I love the sounds, used to have old keyboard like 20 years ago that sound like this but no idea if it's the same switch. Buying it now could be crazy expensive, is it not?

Mechanical keyboards are a complete fucking scam.
I say this as someone who owns one.
Ontop of which it has no performance impact, so unless you already have 3 grand in computer parts you will always have something more worth spending the money on.

Not after you've had multiple rubber dome keyboard keys die on you in a few years.

Last one I used, a Logitech, lasted only a year before one key went to shit.

I have greens and the noise is very fucking loud. If you don't live alone then cross them off your list

That looks garbage to use. Both for games and generally dicking around.

Bring it to Sup Forums, they might start replacing their trackballs with them.

The difference is 1/6th the price, so you can buy 6 membrane keyboards and have them outlast 1 mechanical.
Ontop of which no keyboard ever makes it to it's natural wear death, you'll spill something on it and ruin it within 3 years anyway

shiieet, i was considering buying a mechanical because i read they had a much longer lifespan than membranes. my logitech k120 is on its way out and i want a decent replacement that won't peter out in a few years.

>you'll spill something on it and ruin it within 3 years anyway
Keyboards don't break even if you soak them in water. You just need to dry them completely and they'll be as good as new

I use reds. If you're really having a tough time deciding or can't find other colors switches to test, you can buy a switch sampler online. A friend of mine has one, and that helped me pick a color.

I've got my SteelSeries 6Gv2 for 4 years now and there hasn't been a single problem with it.

>head of my department
>coworkers all ungrateful shits
>do the majority of the work for them
>they're constantly sucking up to my superiors for a raise
>start using a keyboard with green switches
>coworkers visibly irritated
>they all have random outbursts as my keyboard goes clack clack clack
>one of the few coworkers who actually does the work asked of him gets a raise
>hold a small party despite the fact that the others are so jealous they could murder him in the car park
>give him a gift
>it's a long flat rectangular box
>coworkers start getting scared
>some of them look like they're about to throw up
>it's a shiny new keyboard with green switches
>now coworkers are forced to listen to two keyboards clacking away

Go with the green switches

Red or black, depends of how stiff you want them. Bump feedback is for fags.

If we used it since we were kids it would be amazing.

You tried browns and didn't like it? Personally after using a brown switch for almost 2 years, I kind of regret not going with a black switch. Most keystrokes I bottom out the key, but I did get o-rings to help not make as much sound when they do bottom out. I feel like if I had gone with a black switch I wouldn't bottom out more and the tactile bump people go on about isn't very important to me.

why is this the funniest exchange on the board today haha

Not always, a model m maybe, but every modern keyboard has a micro-controller in it so it can work with usb, if it has electricity running through it when you spill a liquid on it you can easily destroy it.

Tbh

>if it has electricity running through it
That's not how it works.

A keyboard doesn't have nearly enough power running through it to actually fry circuits. At worst it'll get shorted out until it's completely dry

Is it back? Smh Tbh Senpai

I bought a ducky with blue switches after having a membrane keyboard for 13 years and I really like it.

it's a waste of money and has nothing to do with video games.
t.owner of a poseidon z rgb

my corsair k70 had cofee and ramen spill on it.
Still works flawlessly after a good day of drying

What kind of switches would the dell keyboards that were in schools?
