>GZ tapes
>rape and torture
>TPP tapes
>wolbachia and burgers
How could they ruin the atmosphere so bad? What was even the taboo Kojima was talking about? Paz's stomach being opened was more gruesome than anything in TPP.
>GZ tapes
>rape and torture

How could they ruin the atmosphere so bad? What was even the taboo Kojima was talking about? Paz's stomach being opened was more gruesome than anything in TPP.
I seriously think that Quiet was going to be Chico after surgery/hypnosis/serious mutations and the argument of "what defines someone" was going to be central in it
As in Venom isn't the Boss, Quiet wasn't a woman, and the Phantom Pain are them.
But it was kinda unfappable and gross so she's just a plant.
>somebody's first metal gear game was V
>What was even the taboo Kojima was talking about?
The edgiest thing I remember was the hallucination where Medic pulled the second bomb out of Paz's vag. But even that wasn't exactly pornographic or anything, all you saw was him bundling up his fingers and shoving them into her groinal area.
There were a lot of cutscenes that were cut from the game that showed in the trailers. One of them was during the first Africa mission, where you see Snake walking over charred corpses of assorted negroes (this presumably would have played if you entered the little burnt village, where now you only get a codec call). Maybe there was supposed to be something like that, but with more edginess. It's hard to tell what Kojimbo wanted to do when the game is so unfinished.
shittest Metal gear solid game by far.
All the others I have played through at least 3 or 4 times.
Only played through GZ and TPP once.
you can play through the entire metal gear solid series including peace walker in the time it takes to beat metal gear solid v according to the average time to beat stats
That cutscene is just the one from the Shining Lights mission. They changed the location for the trailer to avoid spoiling it.
There's so much padding in V though
All those helicopter segments between missions
All those obligatory teleports to emptybase
All those chapters 2 copy paste missions
Fucking hell man
>What was even the taboo Kojima was talking about?
Making a shit game with no ending.
And he was right, it did force him to leave the industry, for a few months
BUT MUH GAEMPLAY
>tapes
How is this better than classic Codec?
They were unnecessarily long and bland. Furthermore, you had to listen to them either doing nothing else, either when you were running around in the field or doing secondary missions with Miller interrupting.
And that's not even the worst part of the trainwreck MGSV is.
Mine was rising
:^)
The real question is, what happened to the bit where Big Boss is in the burnt village with all the crashed choppers and shit? The one where he kneels down and yells at the sky.
>starting a series with the best game
What's wrong with you man?
>rising turned out to be better than mgs5
>raiden turned out to be a better character than both snake and big boss
nice one raiden
>raiden turned out to be a better character than both snake and big boss
He went from a fucking pussy to "muh birthday was ruined by the rain".
Maybe if Raidens character wasnt fucking assassinated after 2
STANDING
Given how you can play as other soldiers I think there should have been sections of the campaign in which you played as other soldiers including Quiet.
In the trailer there is a scene in Guantanamo in which a soldier is tortured and killed during the day. That was probably playable, so there was a sequence in which you played as a doldier who gets tortured, killed, maybe even raped.
I heard someone saying that was related to the FOB nuke counts but desu that's the same animation he does in the mission after you kill all your homies
What happened to that scene anyhow? Was it cut?
>b8ing this hard
kys cancer
he had no character in 2. thats the point. he didnt even know who he was
Maybe the original mission had you killing and napalming villagers to stop the spread of the infection.
There was supposed to be a part of the game where you went back to Camp Omega where that would probably have been. In one of the trailers you can see Kaz standing in the room where Paz is held in GZ, though that could be a case of reused assets.
Maybe it wasn't finished, I think parts of it are used in that mission where Quiet is kidnapped and almost raped.
>pitched a tent and fapped to the gz tapes
I'm not the only one who did this right?
The burgers were the best part of TPP though.
youtube.com
It's worse than codec because it feels entirely disconnected from the game. Snake just sits there, listening to super duper important plot things and he just doesn't give a single fuck.
Speaking of which, Venom should've killed the child soldiers instead of rescuing them.
PAX... HAMBURGANA...
No it's fucking not. There are no vultures in Shining Lights.
Ground Zeroes was the same shit as TPP on a way smaller scale, why does Sup Forums like it but dislike V?
Still doesn't feel like Metal Gear one fucking bit.
Konami censored the game, remember when Kojima said he would handle heavy themes and would have to leave the industry if it failed?
Konami got very scared and made him change it, which is why Kojima left and all the situation happened.
It was a vastly different, darker game at first.
>Snake just sits there, listening to super duper important plot things
No user, you are the Snakes.
I like Ground Zeroes because it has an air of mystery to it, there is also a goal to achieve and progress.
In Phantom Pain its just, WE FOUND NEW INFO ON CIPHER GO AND ESCORT THIS GUY OR KILL THIS GUY OR TAIL THIS GUY
TPP is way better than GZ.
That was a punch to the face, really. That scene everybody was waiting for was cut out and instead of just letting it rest kojima sends us there to catch a stupid fucking vulture for a side objective.
Fuck you.
I highly doubt that. It's Kojima we're talking about, the guy wouldn't know depth if he was drowning.
The advantage of tapes is that you can choose when to listen to them. You don't have to take that phonecall in the middle of a firefight. The disadvantage of tapes is that 1) they're only audio and 2) since Snake himself practically never speaks in them, he gets characterized way less.
I don't know
expecially after chico rapes paz
>play The Truth tapes while in the field
>Well Snake, this has Boss get been a long down time that's coming, an hasn't enemy it gunship!
Worst of all, the alternative is sitting around and fiddling on the iDroid for an hour.
>Watch trailers
>Oh god this will be amazing
>Play game
>All the scenes from the trailers are just bait and switch bullshit that are way worse with context
My nigga
>shitting on mgsV
>2016
GZ "atmosphere" was always smoke and mirrors and selling a story they could never pull off with their anime sensibilities
>the scene with the fighting DD soldiers is optional
>the scene with the burnt village is gone
>the scene in Camp X-Ray/Guantanamo is gone
Anything I'm missing?
Being deep is different from being dark.
Kojima handles all sorts of crazy themes in the games, in the final version of TPP there is a lot of allusions to racism, rape and massacres. The game was probably a lot more explicit at some point.
Kojima only needed to expand GZ into 10-15 hours and it would've been the greatest MGS game of all time. We didn't need the open-world setting.
Really, the ability to play tapes while on the field is fucking useless because you can't fucking pay attention to the tape if anything, ANYTHING is happening at all. So what happens is that you find a rock to hide behind, shove your face into the dirt, you hit play and do nothing but lie still and listen to the tape, so that you don't provoke a game event to trigger.
>you are the Snakes
Nice meme.
i thought the whole paz thing in GZ was so unnecessary she shoulda just been captured and became a character that redeemed herself in TPP
why did kojima even write it that way
>play any tape on the feild
>YOU'RE GONNA EXTRACT HIM?!
>THATS AN ENEMY GUNSHIP WATCH OUT
The scene with the african dude training child soldiers is also gone (this would have happened in the first village you encounter in Africa, the kids and the trainer are still there but there is no cutscene for them).
How could you think Quiet was going to be Chico when you only get validation that Venom isn't Boss at more or less the end of the game?
>i thought the whole paz thing in GZ was so unnecessary
That was literally the entire story of GZ and you thought that part was unneccessary?
this
Sup Forums is just delusional kids and people that can't fully explore the gameplay because they have ADD and lack imagination/creativity
youtube.com
im many ways mgsV is like a blank canvas, most people will paint shit and say "hurr this painting sucks lol, its so boring", but if you have the skills you have the option to make masterpieces
I never really had this problem. Listening to Code Talker go on and on about WOLBACHIA and COPULATION for 20 minutes while exploring Africa wasn't bad. I'd even say comfy. Actual gameplay isn't the problem. It's Miller and Ocelot calling you over the radio every 5 seconds to bother you over your fultoning or warn you about a Sniper.
>why did kojima even write it that way
To make the story grimier and grittier, more "horrors of war" shit. That's valid.
I don't remember the horrors of war being chicken hats and cardboard boxes.
I think that scene was used in GZ main mission.
After you rescue Chico you can spot a group of soldiers and a prisoner in one spot of a camp. They torture him for a while and then execute him. You can actually save the guy and get an achievement.
It's easily missable though, because most people go straight to Paz after rescuing Chico.
It can also be pretty misleading because in the trailer this scene takes place during the day and it's not a cutscene in-game, but the resemblance is strong enough that I believe it's that exact scene.
I really though the extra ops in mgs5 would have been similar to the ones in gz. The extra missions in gz were the best part of the game.
Its in some ways a parody of war
>not "getting" the appeal of MG series
its all about "serious" themes with wack sens eof humor, EVERY game is this way, from MG1 to TPP
the paz thing felt so bizarre for metal gear after goofy-ass mgs4. i'm glad they swerved away from having explicit rape scenes in tpp. feels totally wrong for metal gear imho
chico is quiet was confirmed
Yeah it's the same with the child soldiers, they use the same animation shown in the trailers except it's in-game. It was just shot like a cutscene for the trailer.
I didn't say he's good at sticking to a tone.
reminder that Venom and Quiet are the best couple in video game history
bad meme, friendo.
MGS4 had its dark moments aswell. And rape was in MGS ever since MGS2. And it was far more explicit than MGSV.
MGSV is the only MGS game I haven't finished. Got really bored after the 100th extraction mission and just stopped playing.
Nope, it's not the same. For instance, the instructor in the trailer puts the kid's hand on the gun. In game, he just points and the animation loops.
They were nothing and Snake felt uncomfortable that she felt so close to him. She made the illusion for herself and is crumbled when she was abandoned.
almost like the entire game was scraped and remade in a hurry to censor the story
...
TPP is a more systemic game than any of the previous MGS games, although it still has flaws even if you don't judge as a linear cinematic game.
GZ is just TPP on a small map with less options.
>TPP is way better than GZ.
It's REALLY not. It has more stuff in it, shitloads more stuff, but the core gameplay is worse than it was in GZ. There isn't a single mission in TPP, not even one, that's anywhere close to the quality of the GZ main mission.
That's not really surprising. When you make a 30 minute game, you can put way more attention to it than when you make a 30 hour one.
MALE TO FEMALE
COPULATION
>GZ
>Large base to infiltrate with a bunch of guards
>Have limited resources at your disposal
>Have to go OSP on hard and procure weapons and equipment on site
>No fulton to abuse
>Interesting story with a threatening villain and an air of mystery
>Missions all have different objectives and none of them play alike despite being in the same base
>TPP
>Most missions take place in empty fields or shitty huts and 99% of your open world encounters will be three guards in an outpost
>Have a ridiculous amount of resources at your disposal
>Have buddies that can clear entire camps for you or give you wallhacks on every guard that can possibly detect you
>Can't go full OSP for majority of missions and you get fucked even if you could because there's no weapon stashes to loot for equipment like silencers or C4
>After some upgrades there's virtually no reason to not fulton every guard you see and you even get bonuses for doing so on top of getting them out of the area
>Story is pointless trash with a shit villain and a twist that was only shocking because it was so fucking obvious and dumb you didn't think they'd actually do it
>Majority of missions are the same extraction bullshit and it's a struggle to tell most of them apart or even remember them in the first place
When I played GZ, I had the utmost faith in TPP. Literally all they had to do was make more of GZ and add on a good story for a 10/10 game and they still completely fucked it up.
Every MGS except V had shit gameplay. Prove me wrong. Protip : you can't
the diNEH
niceme.me
not saying the game don't have flaws, it have lots of flaws but saying GZ is better? or even saying it was a shit game? Those claims just makes TPP a great pleb filter
also the story in every other mg game was bad, the story in this one is better than the one in mgs4
GZ was also short as all fuck and BASED around that one base.
4 had arguably the tightest gameplay with improved controls and actually decent levels
also you're supposed to prove your claim you dingus
...
What does that have to do with Chico/Quiet character arc
Makes perfect sense, yet, the game is not finished so whatfuckingever, discussing MGS is a waste of time because everything boils down to "I just realized Kojima isn't a good writer", and it's true.
Thats valid. I can see why a person would not like it.
WOLBACHIA
That scene is from Ground Zeroes. It happens in a different location though, as the guards take one prisoner away near the tent camp where they execute him. It's one of the mission objectives where you can save him.
No I thought you meant you drew that conclusion because of the whole "Big Boss and Venom are seperate people thing"
I misread what you wrote.
TPP should have been 10 GZ sized bases. There could be a snow level, city level, the possibilities could have been endless.
Why are half the missions repeats and why are there credits at the end of each mission? Am I the only one that doesn't like this? Last MG game I played was MGS 3. Guess I was just comparing it to that.
No he didn't? And she isn't abandoned? What? Are you okay in there, user-chan?
>WOLBACHIA
SHUT UP, SHUT UP!
But there are vultures in that location, which looks exactly as it does in the trailer. The only difference is that was a trailer shot because showing Snake walk through corpses of his own people in Mother Base could've been too spoiler-heavy.
So... they pour water on a guy in the rain?
come on man, I love mgs4 solely for the gameplay and gimmicks because the story is pure shit, but no way the gameplay in mgs4 is better than TPP
I thought they were going to do neat shit with the subject of child soldiers
Unfortunately you just bend over backwards for ungrateful little niglets for the entire second half the game
You even have a massive horn in your brain and they do nothing with it. No hallucinations besides the franky poorly implemented Paz sidequest.
